I don’t think you’re wrong to point out that the seat was dirty. When I pay £3-4k for a seat I expect quality, good service and cleanliness. And climbing over someone is unacceptable these days. I try and avoid BA as their product is poor for the price point .

I do not know if you will see this but I agree 100%. I used to travel "Business Class" in the late 1990s and things were FAR BETTER, to be honest, I never fly with BA but with Malaysia Airlines, Qantas and American Airlines and everything was very nice. The most important feature was the amount of SPACE that you enjoyed; obviously, most airlines are now cutting corners in the most shameful way!

Possibly one shouldn't be at all surprised that British Airways introduce new passengers to dirty aircraft. However, is that really the standard that can be expected of a 'leader in international air travel'? Personally I'm rather more saddened by such unexpected squalor, than actually shocked. The cheap end of the market, in air transport providers, are the true aircraft 'turn around' specialists with barely enough time for re-fuelling and safety checks, plus just 20 minutes passenger boarding time allocated before taking off again. (Yes, a plane on the ground is not earning money. . .) It really isn't expected of the mighty and exalted British Airways, to rival the 'cattle herders' of air travel, but this must be what is now 'Brave New World', so suck it up and enjoy paying thousands of £££sss for the privilege of wallowing in a sty and a trough in the sky.

I paid £4000 for a basic economy seat. So, I think it's less about how much you pay, but rather what you are paying for - because whether you are paying £600 for your seat in economy or £4000 - it is still an economy seat.

I am an easygoing gal, but that level of grime and crammed configuration is outrageous considering the cost. You were very generous and I can tell you’re mindful of people watching who may be stuck in economy. This is a business class experience I’d expect to see if a discount carrier introduced a lie flat product. I’m glad the food was great! Excellent video - have fun in Orlando!

Someone once said to me that we've forgotten that airplane travel is a feat of engineering! Always check the configuration on the planes before you book. This is an old configuration on many airlines for 767/777 - the airbus 380 is better (unless you need the bassinet then it's a nightmare). And pick your seats. When you're window side you have more privacy and less disruption but it is harder to get out. But anyone on the aisle side knows that if they've flown business. If you're not planning on sleeping Prem Econ is a very good deal!

This is the old BA Business Class cabin. They have introduced the Club World Suite on the Airbus A350-1000 and Boeing 787-10 , which are more modern and spacious.

I did BA Business Class Austin - London in September in the Airbus A350-1000 and I loved it. Great 1-2-1 configuration with the privacy door. Lots of space with 2 full windows in 9A and 9K. The food was great and the filet was one of the best I’ve ever had. LOVED the White Company pillow and the bedding was very nice. Lay flat bed was very spacious. Wine selection was nice but very skimpy beer offerings. All in all, very nice experience!

First video by this lady that I've ever seen. I liked it. Low-key, but interesting content. Didn't criticise BA too harshly for the dirty plane. Pleasant attitude almost smoothed over the indifferent presentation by BA. The staff also received deserved praise. All round designed to not upset the apple cart too much. Very diplomatic!

Saturday morning in Mel. Australia. Watching Hannah with a travel blog, I'm in heaven. I am going to splurge on a once in a life time business class to Paris to see family. All your fault Hannah I want to experience this once. I've just retired and think now is the time. As you say" first world problems" I'm so blessed. I am trying to wangle a week in London only so that I can visit all my favourite Hannah places... might need two weeks actually. Flew Business Class with my mother from LHR to Corfu in June - the crew and the aeroplane going out were incredible, lovely people, modern plane, superb service. Coming back, our flight was cancelled, no notice, and no information. They flew us back Finnair, and they were wonderful!

My family and I last flew BA in 2002, economy, NEVER again. The flight was delayed, we were escorted to a hotel about 11 pm. and then woken up at 6:00 am. to get on the replacement aeroplane!

I flew Sydney to London RTN, Club World after Covid for $6500, so around £3000. It wasn’t a great luxury experience but for the money, I got to lay flat, sleep and overall the experience was great. Prices are now $10000 for the same route and there’s NO way I would pay that for BA Business.

Funny story my husband was attending a conference in Orlando for Educational reasons. When leaving he and his friend had rented a car and we’re returning to the Airport they thought. 😂 By accident they were in traffic to Disney World 🙃. Eventually they turned around and reached the plane in time but watching today you entering Disney it brought a smile and a laugh. Unfortunately he died in 2011 but things I see or watch bring so many memories. Thanks for this and I don’t believe I’ve ever seen seats like that before. The difference between UK and USA. Loved it.

I haven't flown first class or business class since before there were sleeper seats! The only flying I do these days is in economy (or some version of it) as I would rather spend my money differently , but I have to say, I have flown Virgin Atlantic on my last three flights from the US to UK and was really impressed. Even in Economy they still gave out amenity packs, blankets, etc. , free drinks, good food. The cabin crew on all of the flight were great . I vowed never to fly BA again many years ago. Once, when traveling with my husband and son (who was 4 years old, and a seasoned traveller as we lived in Australia and flew back and forth to the US often) we were stuck on the tarmac for several hours and the staff was horrendous. One of the crew actually slapped my hand when I reached for a cookie that they were handing out (while still on the ground), and told me they were only for the children. I think these days if that happened you would probably sue the airline! All in all, flying is nowhere near the experience it was in the past - and not something I enjoy. This was fascinating - thanks!

Great Vlog. Dirty business class is unforgivable in this day and age. Our Australian air lines are just as bad, cleaners only get a few minutes to clean before the next lot of passengers come on board. This gives the air lines more profits, but passengers pick up germs. Enjoy your holiday.

When it comes to older business class seats from Virgin and British, I’d take Virgin’s all day. I’ve flown Virgin’s older Herringbone configuration and it’s newer one and I’m fine with either one, I thought I wouldn’t like the older one but I liked it.

I agree this configuration is really unacceptable these days for business class prices. There are so many better options available with aisle access from every seat. I was BA Gold for many years but personally I feel BA are now far down the pack. Personally I swapped my allegiance to AF/KLM. You should try AF long haul business class, much better than BA.

The Club lounge looked better than the tired lounge at Heathrow. Have given up on BA Business Class particularly to Orlando. Seating when converted to a bed is comfortable but pre flight and flight service is just OK.Switched to another British airline and will not return to BA Business. For the price cabin needs improving.

Thanks Hannah - a very comprehensive review. As someone who has not flown BA for a number of years it looks like the soft product has indeed improved and the new Business Class cabin can only be an improvement on that old 777 "dorm" ... BA *may* be a consideration going forward. Airline cleanliness seems to be an endemic issue currently, I've just returned to Oz using a mix but including Finnair. Their seat was so filthy down to side I did fire off an enquiry to ask if they considered cleaning when they launched this seat a few years ago. Keep up this great work ... like yourself I'm really into airline reviews and will keep an eye out for future ones from you. Hope you enjoyed Florida!!

Just flew BA Business Class to Tokyo on this type of plane and it was definitely not worth the money. Seat was uncomfortable and I cold not lie flat, issues with the entertainment system on the way out. Cabin crew logged a complaint but I never got a reply. Suspect they are dealing with lots of them. Terminal 5 Lounge was absolutely packed unlike your experience. Flew Sri Lankan Airways last year and they head and shoulders above. Actually think all other airlines are now better. Will not be flying with them again.

Great review. 😁 You went through so many details I feel those 'professional' flight reviewers tend to take for granted on these business class flights. Also, I wouldn't be too hard on BA's old business class. Even Qatar isn't flying their Q-Suites on every route.

I'd agree with that. I recently flew Qatar from Seoul via Doha to London, and the first leg in Q-Suite was *amazing*, but the second leg was more or less the same quality as this. Although they did have a nice bar you could walk to 🙂

Airlines totally overcharge for Business Class and First Class. The rates that you showed for B.A.'s Business Class could have bought an all-inclusive cruise-vacation for 2 to 4 weeks in the Caribbean! And a trans-Atlantic cruise is among the cheapest of all types of cruises....and the cheapest type of cabin aboard a modern cruise-ship is more spacious than any First Class or Business Class seat/bed.....

Being 6'7'' any upgrade from Economy is so much appreciated. I always feel so sorry for anyone sitting in front of me in Economy as they have no chance of reclining their seat, and it feels like BA are shrinking the space between their seats.

I’ve got to say flying backwards sounds a bit weird to me having never done it. Also, don’t ever stop to think about how the plane stays in the air, it’s enough to know it just does! No! It is good to know how a plane stays in the air to reassure family members who are nervous fliers. Real basic physics-the shape of the wings ensures there is a different airspeed over the top of the wings compared to the bottom of the wings-this ensures there is a difference in pressure between the top and bottom of the wings so the plane is pushed upwards! e.g the plane flies.

I had the same thoughts about flying backwards before I did it, but it’s actually pretty cool. Also, the plane is pointing slightly up while cruising so flying backwards on a lie flat bed means your head is higher than your feet, so it’s better for sleeping than facing forwards (if that makes sense).

I really enjoyed your video on business class on BA from Gatwick to Orlando. I flew the exact same flight in the exact same seat a year and a half ago. After flying British Airways business class on the 747 that used to fly into Phoenix, Arizona when I lived there I was rather disappointed on the 777 business class. And I agree with the comment before mine, never apologize, or say, you’re lucky when you’ve worked hard, your entire life, and you’ve achieved a certain point to where you can afford to enjoy some of the finer things in life. There’s absolutely nothing wrong with that and you deserve everything you’ve worked for, OK I’m done being a dad! Great video! I'm glad you highlighted the cleanliness, this is my only gripe with business-class flights! I luckily get to travel extensively for work and noticing dirt down the sides of seats or on the touchscreen really lets down an otherwise great experience provided by the crew onboard and in the lounges. My favorite business class would have to be Qatar Airways when flying the Q-suite, regardless of seat option the crew are always fantastic.

Hannah we flew with Emirates from South Africa via Dubai to Orlando last year Oct and the new terminal just opened. We waited 2 hours for our luggage to come through and there was no trolleys. It was a huge tour of 56 adults and 14/15 year olds. Was a journey and a half

What a fun Hannah on Holiday Vlog!! Thank you for the tour of the lounge at Gatwick. It seems much more relaxed compared to Heathrow. It doesn’t seem like the ground crews ever have enough time to thoroughly clean every surface from the previous flight. The herringbone seating configuration on carriers like Cathay afford access to one’s seat without interrupting a cabin mate. Have a great time in MCO and WDW with your family! Having worked for BA for years i've flown club dozens of times, I have to say that the best business class i've ever flown was Air Belgium! They had a really weird seating arrangement where your feet went into a sort of box in the seat in front, it sounds odd , but it meant you did not have to clamber over the person behind, or sit staring at a complete stranger through the partition.

I’ve never quite managed to get my head around the whole applause thing on landing! I once flew an internal flight to Cairo on Egyptair and when we finally touched down the whole aircraft erupted in paroxysms of joy and euphoria. Cheering, clapping…the full package of delights. Could it be that applause is just an expression of relief for having arrived in one piece? Who knows! Anyway, an enjoyable and entertaining vlog from you and having just subscribed, I’ll gleefully now delve into your other content.

Great video, Hannah. Video & audio was very good. I flew BA business class from California to London earlier this year. Different model of plane as the window seats all had two large storage bins between the seat and the window and could walk to seat without going over other passengers. Crew was very nice. Food was ok, not as nice as yours. Flight home was delayed an entire day so that whole experience was very disappointing. Always enjoy your vlogs.

A dirty plane really annoys me! I don't think you are being a snob. The cleaners have one job! I don't want to be sitting in a seat for over 8 hours that is covered in crumbs or there is still food stains on the tray table...

Not the cleaners fault it's the limited time they have to do everything due to turn around time limitations and costs (cleaning company imposed time alloted to clean each plane, to maximise profit, budget BA are willing to pay, cost of the plane being stationary etc)

Oh what a treat! Travelling with Hannah back to DISNEY. I’ve been lucky to have flown overnight in business and all pods are not equal for sure but I’ve never had to climb over someone! Weird. My best experience (and I’ve not flown the wonderful Asian ones) was Swiss Air. I swear there were only 10 of us up there in business Montreal to Zurich ….and I remember the table setting looked like a wine tasting with all the glasses lol. Special

I was speaking to a very nice fun lady yesterday in our local Michigan grocery store who upon recognizing I had a British accent announced she watched Hannah Ricketts on you tube. We do too, my wife and and I responded. She then went on to talk about how you inspired her to do Teas. Hannah is making a difference in the world. By the way, the lady thought you and I sounded the same. I am a Geordie who has lived in the USA for 24 years, I am not sure we sound exactly alike.

Goodness, the seat layout in their business class is just so awkward. I'm a flight attendant (with another airline) and just envisioning how uncomfortable it must be for everyone involved getting around, serving the food and beverages over people, eek. I certainly hope your next time flying them in business class, it's in a seat configuring that is more comfortable. That tiramisu looked scrumptious! 😍 Hope you had a wonderful holiday with your family 🌴

Hi Hannah, my wife and I enjoyed this video and are happy you have been able to take a break and spend quality time with your family. As for upgrading out of economy, I say it si always worth it. I stand 6’ 5” and the extra legroom in world traveller is worth every penny. We were in COrnwall and Devon is September and we had world traveller seats to England and back to Canada and had such a comfortable flight on BA. And yes, we were pleasantly surprised by the food. We rated our flight a 9.5/10 for fabulous flight attendants and food and cleanliness. The BA ground crew at Heathrow were friendly. Keep up the fab videos and we are looking forward to Vlogmas.

I agree Steve........I always fly Business Class Club, and mostly First with BA, but a few years back I surprised my Mum with a trip to Dubai. As I was paying cash I booked Economy. BIG MISTAKE! We were on the Red Eye & I suffered like hell on the way out. No leg room and acute claustrophobia. Mum was okay as she is tiny. Checking in for the return flight, I just handed over my Amex card and said upgrade us, don't care what cabin or how much it costs. The only seats available we P.Economy, which I took. I paid £440 as I recall so £220 each, and we got front cabin seats by the window. I was really impressed, I really was. It was worth every penny.

Pre COVID I got a round the world ticket with numerous stop offs. All with scheduled airlines economy for just over 3k....makes one think about the cost. Enjoying the content👍

Interesting! I am flying BA Business Class to Toronto in December but from Heathrow. I have never been to Gatwick. You had the old business seat configuration. The latest, which is in the A350, is much better. I didn't like the old one either. I agree with you. BA have changed direction lately and are now trying to revert to a quality airline after all the cutbacks in previos years. Mike Rickett

Well, I’m glad you finally got back to Florida. I know that you love it there. I’m the one that owns property in the springs right off of Orlando up north. In a place called Salt Springs. It is nice. Soon will be buying a big farm up in high Springs around some other Springs and traveling between those two and Cocoa Beach/Satellite Beach and Sebastian Beach for work.
