One of my first memories of golf, was carrying the scoreboard at the Celtic manor in the Welsh open. The group was Paul mcginely, Phil price and Robert rock. And I think it was on the 5th hole par 5 into the wind, Rob was the first player I had ever seen hit driver of the deck. My jaw hit the floor as he hit this low fizzing driver to about 10 foot. Fair to say I hit the course as soon as I could the try and replicate this. Failed massively but has to be one of the best shots I’ve ever seen live. Such a nice guy

About 35 years ago a dried out old drunk suggested I try sobriety for 30 days. He told me if I didn't like it after 30 days I could go back to the drinking and have all the headaches and heartaches, hangovers, and all the joys that drinking brings. He advertised sobriety like a product in a store. If you don'tike it you get 30 days to bring it back and you get your money back....lol... I'm not saying those words "try sobriety for 30 days" sold me. It is one line though I do remember and I have been sober ever since. Congrats Rick on 5 weeks. It's truly an accomplishment. Remember it's only 1 thing "alcohol" you can have anything else in the world. Great life

17:30. Off season?! DP World Tour went from the 2023 Tour Champs finishing on Sunday and then 2 tournaments, yep, that’s TWO tournaments starting off the 2024 season on the following Thursday (one in Australia and one in South Africa) so that’s 4 days later. Some ‘off season’!!!!

Fantastic podcast again!!!! 1 point on golf having a break, What about the golfing fans in Australia? There are no events played in our country until the end of the year due to the PGA and DP World Tour having a monopoly on tour events throughout the year. If you have a break from Late November to January, when does that leave time for us Aussies to see quality golf? As it stands, we get our home players generally come home and play, but rarely get top notch tour players. Lets bring in a 5th Major, played in Australia!!!! Keep up the good work gents!!

You should know by now that the US and European golfing bodies don’t give a flying f**k about professional golf being accessible for the rest of the world or in growing golf globally especially in Australia, hell the pga tour actively tries to hamper Australian players from coming back and competing in the Aus open.

Maybe you could put together an RS tour calendar with explanations of the reasons for the importance, how winning one game applies to another, how wins apply to cards, and other miscellaneous golf information as well as photos related to the most important golf event for each month. The WGC events were created in a similar fashion although mainly held in the USA, but now no longer exist - even the match play event has now ceased with the 2023 event being the last, which is a shame

As a golf fan, the idea of less events is just not appealing to me. Even if there are "lesser events" I still love to havd golf every week and have something to watch on the weekend/root for. It may be a smaller event, or a one off winner, but I think that is still an enjoyable product and love being able to travel to see the PGA TOUR across the US.

Mcilroy winning the DP World Tour again just screams that he's their golden boy and really is an injustice to the other players who play on the tour week in week out... Either play on the European Tour full time or hit a certain amount of events, not including majors and you go from there... Just seems like the European Tour is completely one directional when it comes to looking after certain players just look at their KZbin channel it may aswell be renamed to " Rory Mcilroy Highlights" He could literally miss a cut with a 76 and theyd still show him over someone who shot a 65... Its getting real old now and is partly to blame for why the European Tour is seen as a joke.

You could argue in some way the DP World is the 3rd best tour, if you look at how many cards are awarded at the end of the year for the PGATour. Korn Ferry gets 30 awarded. I think the DP World tour would be #2 as it stands but I’ve never heard anyone talk about this part.

I don't think he'll win another tournament on the PGA tour so he probably will always be tied with Sam Snead. But I think he could really take the Champions tour to a different level once he turns 50.

With Rory, without winning he does really well in Majors. As much as people say he doest win, his consistency is better than anyone. Last 2 years (so 8 majors) hes only missed the cut once and not finished outside the top 7 of the other 7 tournaments. So accumulating points for Race to Dubai is easier because they are bigger events. That along with 2 wins and decent performance in Matchplay prob should put him up there. Hojgaard only has 1 win, 1 2nd and 1 3rd all season and finished 2nd in race to Dubai? Above Meronk withn3 wins or Rahm who won the Masters and was on fire first 4 months of the year. Questionable

If it had still been a European tour with European running it DP would have partnered with LIV and lifted its profile, LIV has invested massively into the Asian tour, meanwhile PGAT has gutted and stripped DP tour, says so much. Sorry to say as a LIV fan serves the DP tour right for letting the Americans use them as doormat. Rick as for your comment about a world tour, that is what Norman proposed and was shot down by PGAT, an American organisation who believed they deserved to lock all the best players in continental USA. The ATP tennis tour leqaves golf for dead. Even DARTS is more global than PGAT.

Meronk looks impressive until you look at his missed cuts in the biggest events. Last I checked it out it was something like in the 9 biggest events he played in he missed the cut 7 times, which is horrendous, but on some occasions he's able to put it together for a win. I don't know much about the guy, but he must be a head case. The lack of grace he showed by not getting selected for the Ryder Cup is very telling.

Will Tiger Woods feign injury again as soon as he starts playing bad? Overall I would say that there's about a 50% chance, however I would say if he's playing bad there's a 100% chance (in other words there's about a 50% chance that Tiger Woods will play bad enough to quit). If he does it again that should be it... he shouldn't be allowed back.

I think there is too much golf. With American football you have an "off season" and so when football season comes around everyone is pumped up. There are too many events and I start to tune out. Too much of a good thing can change people's feelings. I need a break from golf. There should be about 3-4 months off, in the winter, to allow a break for the players and fans. Just my opinion.
