Hi there, I have a high mileage 2012 SRT8 with over 250k miles. It has been in my family since 2013 and was recently passed down to me by my father. I just say that it runs just as well as it has since the day we got it.

Must be nice to have that kind of vehicle handed down to you. As long as it's well taken care of the high mileage shouldn't be a problem. My first vehicle was ford expedition handed down to me from my dad. Had over 200k miles but he did have the engine swapped so im not sure what the mileage on the second engine was. I drove it for 5 years and other than a slow coolant leak it didn't have any major problems.

To tell u the truth it's ok or in most cases then better 👍 if the last owner did regular maintenance or then upgrades then theres nothing to be worried about with a high mileage vehicle.

I've had my 2015 since new for over 8 yrs and now 176 000 Km. I'm an ex mechanic. The vehicle still drives like the day I bought it. Over that period I've had 2 sets of Brembo front brake pads and one set of brake discs. I'm about to replace with new front pads. Ive just replaced the original rear brake pads at this millage. The vehicle is stock with no modifications. I've always used runflat tyres with no problems. I've also used the original engine oil, Pennzoil 0w-40 SRT ordered in from the US including an SRT oil filter. No Pennzoil in Australia. On one out of 2 occasions I had the dealer use there oil (different oil) and immediately started hearing ticking noises from lifters. I drove one week with intermittent ticking, dumped the dealer oil ànd put in SRT oil and no noise. I've had 2 water pumps, easy job. 1 crankshaft pulley, easy job. Replaced 1 set of headlight bulbs ebay. 1 month ago replaced the radiator and thermostat. At 120 000Km replaced auto transmission oil and oil pan/filter. Every 40 000 km transfer case oil. All these items are normal maintenance issues. Hope this helps. Everytime I start the car it puts a smile on my face 😊😊😊. I occasionally use to go to the local race track and have a little fun under controlled environment with other car enthusiasts roll racing just down the straight. I also towed a 2t trailer for about 4yrs 5 days a week.

Mate this is the honest review we need from someone who knows what he's talking about! Thinking of buying my first used, a lot are high mileage (90k-120k km), can you give me some tips on things to look out for that warn me to not buy the car? Just in case someone sold it started having issues, I'd like to know what issues to look out for that the dealership won't tell me?? Thanks
@shaunconradie4110
@shaunconradie4110 3 ай бұрын
@@kidthemanifest The first thing to check for when buying any used car with high mileage, is service history. You can then see if the vehicle had all it's services at the correct Klm. Also if any additional maintenance repairs were done. In general, if all this was done, 100.000Km is not high mileage for the modern day car. I own my car now for 9.5 yrs from new and 195.000Km. I kept the car stock and replaced with original parts including tyres. At 100.100.000Km Max, the automatic transmission oil and pan must be replaced. So ask if the transmission service was done. Also the condition of the vehicles when viewing should give you an idea if it was loved. There is a lot of information about what maintenance items gets replaced over the lifetime of the vehicle. At 195.000Km I've never done any wheel alignment since new. Just replaced tyres and balance wheels. I run 40Psi pressure and inflate with nitrogen. These are a few items to consider. Hope this helps.

I just bought a 2014 SRT GC with 80miles for $15500 needed a new engine,tyres,brakes, new wheels, stainless steel catback,exhaust, now sitting at $28k after the repairs and replacement of many miscellaneous parts it wasn't treated well but now tip top mechanically needs a few cosmetic items done and it will be perfect. definitely worth it as its still under its retail value and a fully sorted unit. its my second SRT and just love it.

The biggest thing you'll have to watch out for with high mileage 392 is the water pump and the hemi tick... If you eliminate the mds and put hellcat lifters or aftermarket lifters in it then jeep will be fine... Cosmetics mostly the carbon fiber trim inside.

Honestly, right now, with the new updated interior Durango out, BAD IDEA. You can pretty much get a new 392 SRT Durango with a nicer interior, better ride, more up to date infotainment, and a 3rd row for about the same or a little bit more than used a GC SRT... the Durango is the way to go with the SUV muscle from Chrysler now ...

But you have people who may not want a 3rd row. Jeep SRTs are more agile which is probably one of the reasons people go for them over a 3rd row SUV. I like both and have a Durango GT. But I know I'll never get another 3rd row vehicle because of the body roll when hitting corners. That's my only complaint

Drove a 2015 new for 5 years. I really enjoyed the vehicle while I had it but it was in the shop a lot. Problem is SRT stands for Street Race Technology and whenever you try to use that technology for any length of time something will break. I’ve cracked the water pump twice, cracked the radiator after it could not sustain being pushed for 40min. If you take this to the track something will break. Expect to go through tires once or twice a year as well.
