Oregon stores always seem to be 4 or 5 months late getting these batches on the shelf, so I said something to my local store manager and she looked on the computer and said the state warehouse was sitting on 300 cases of C922 but wasn't shipping them out. So I asked her to order a case and just like that I got a C batch before October.

Heaven Hill does not try to conceal the fact why ECBP now carry such a (relatively) low proof. If you take the "You Do Bourbon" Bottle Filling Experience at their Visitor Center in Bardstown, they tell you the reason is that they have switched to harvesting barrels for ECBP from only three warehouses. And when they're plucking barrels from those warehouses, they're only selecting them from the middle and bottom floors. That's not saying that the barrels that they select from the lower tiers will never hit a high proof, but the majority of barrels used are under 125 proof these days. I predict we won't see any future batches over 123 proof in the future unless a drastic change in barrel selection happens.

Haven't had this batch, but the 2022 batches seem like a step up from last year, though still a far cry from the mighty B520 and C920. Still glad I had the foresight to hoard what some doctors might call an irresponsible amount of those bottles. Also curious Matt if you've had the ECBP batch from the "Bottle Your Own" experience at the Heaven Hill distillery. They do a super small 10 barrel blend batch that is used just for that. I thought it was phenomenal and the batch of that I had when I got mine I would say is right up there with the 2020 batches. The LBP for the Bottle Your Own was nothing like the big releases either IMO.

Picked up a EC single barrel - private barrel - barrel proof from local liquor store. Clocks in at 132.4 proof. Also bought and ECBP C921 at 120.2 proof. The single barrel store pick blew the ECBP out of the water. The single barrel is younger but much better then the C921. Here’s hoping I find the C922 in my area to give it a try. Cheers Matt!

The taste is the most important part anyway. I would take a great tasting boubon over a great smelling boubon any day. Yes in the past we got both from Elijah Craig but the taste is always number 1 for me. The B520 was my favorite with the C920 coming in close a 2nd.

Agree! This one is actually really good. I grabbed one and ran out to get a backup as soon as I tasted it. Side by side with A122, the C is much sweeter, more complex, and has a more viscous mouthfeel. Can't argue with $60 each in my no sales tax state!

I would agree that for the price i cant find anything better. Ive only ever had this years batches and have all three. C922 unopened but cant wait to pop the cork. The only other contender is Knob Creek single barrels which are amazing and even cheaper. But, have a totally different experience. Take care!

FWIW, my favorite protein bar, by FAR, is the Built bar. They're good enough that I struggle to not eat 18 in a sitting, thus defeating the whole point! Also, the C922 is killer, but they haven't matched B518 in my opinion. Cheers Matt! 🥃

Matt, I’ve been on a weight loss journey as well-we’re both at right about 65# (go us!). I get these choc/PB protein bars at Aldi that I dig. 20g of protein per bar, which I need because my protein macro is off the damn sharts…I mean charts. Though sharts happen, am I right? Which reminds me-get your damn fiber, bud. 38g a day. It’s good for ya. Also a big fan of PB2 and nonfat Greek yogurt. Anyway, for exercise…I hate it. But 30 minutes of movement (I just walk) 150 minutes a week (minimum), gets it done. Do it regularly and your energy will improve dramatically. Then you can start tackling other stuff. Price is around 100 in my area. So its a pass until the prices comes down. Organic beef or turkey jerky is my protein bar. Find an exercise u like first. Cycling? Start with a one speed cruiser bike. Just walking is great for u.

Elijah Craig small batch is delicious but the barrel proof 121 is taking a quantum leap I found the c922 in Tulsa at parks liquor on memorial I believe it will be bey than the 121 however I plan to gift this treasure for Christmas

Personally I get a big red apple note on the C922 batch. Both on the nose and palate. Really love this one. During the video, you noted that any batch from 2020 and before didn’t have the heaven hill nutty note. Well, I got to try the C917 batch at a bar and it tasted like dusty peanuts. I was surprised. Appalled. I thought it was gonna be amazing, and it was sub par. Maybe it was a bad bottle. I dunno. Anyways, thanks for the review!

You do realize that a bottle, after being opened for a long time, will lose its flavors gradually, right? That bottle of C917 must've been opened and sitting on the shelf, (exposed to sunlight?), for a long time. It is no wonder that it tasted off. That would be my guess.

C921 I thought was good b522 was ok too. My favorite protein bar is a NY strip steak. Save your money on the pre it bars. Modify your push ups. Get on your knees or do wall pushups. Just exert force and heart rate up. 5-7 minutes.

The only batch I got in 2021 was C921 at 120.2 proof, which is meh. Maybe it is exactly that why nothing newer than that finds its way to Germany. Sellers dont buy the new stuff until the old is sold. I bought two C921, because we only get one batch a year and I'm a fanboy, others may not.

Not to be a whiskey snob but it you drank B517 you would be disappointed with the rest. I have had a few after that release and they just have not been the same the density and mouthfeel has gotten thinner and thinner. They are great value regardless but larcency barrel proof has been my go to replacement it seems to be getting better over time not worse.

I’m super picky with protein Suppliments because I think they have a distinct taste. My recommendation is not a bar, but a drink. The fairlife chocolate protein shakes to be specific. are only 150 calories, 30g protein, and very very little sugar, carbs, or fat, but tastes like a decadent chocolate milk. It’s so good I actually use them to satisfy my late night chocolate cravings and it actually works! Then I feel good about myself too! 10/10 HIGHLY RECCOMEND!!

Also congrats on the weight loss! Sounds like you’ve made progress through mostly diet which is truly the key to sustained success. If you want to exercise I’d recommend starting small and slowly scale up. And celebrate your accomplishments! As a gym owner I see the most successful people find how to transform their workouts into something they enjoy, but everyone likes different things and it takes time to find out what you like! So don’t burn yourself out, or stress yourself out. Start small, and remember you’re already winning! The exercise part is like extra credit. Sorry for rambling on there, but hearing someone talk about fitness gets me excited for them. Especially if I care about them! ❤
