Having grown up in Cape Town, all I can say is that at a certain point, it felt like I was having the same conversation with different people. Thankfully, I no longer live there.

I feel you this one. In a way it can feel like a loop. Because it's artistic and snazzy people feel they need do that also. Leaving realness at the door. People don't elaborate.

Oh, I just did the trite thing of running away to the Klein Karoo like every other jaded Capetonian who'd like to moan about the city from the comfort of their enormous farm. Whenever someone asks me that, I still start off by saying, "I'm from Cape Town originally..." for some reason though :)
