Thanks! I see .. but they still don't have this hook shaped curves Ciri's sword has. Also, I'm still concerned about the hole in the base :D The sword is a minor issue anyway.

I'm guessing she tried to get rid of her elder blood via trial of the grasses. Must've been fed up with everyone constantly wanting to use her for their own goals. In the third game you'll get a bad/neutral ending if you try to force your own decisions on Ciri, don't think she cares too much about others opinions. Also flamberge is what swords with undulating edges are called, only impractical thing would be the hole near the guard, compromises the stability of the steel but this is fantasy so not too bothered.

Hm. I agree with you she is bothered by being used by other people. How would she get rid of her blood though? Also if the devs make it possible to do such a thing, then it should be possible to reverse the Trial and so on ... which breaks the whole lore.

@@g3ral7 I don't think she succeeded, hence why the bauk tells her "fate cannot be changed" during the trailer. In gameplay terms that'll probably translate to no longer having her blink and other child of space and time abilities (at least until you unlock them either in the skill-tree or later games)

Yes, this makes sense. They have a difficult job in their hands because of this choice. From the interviews, the game director made clear they want an origin story. However, we already have spent a lot of time with this character and she has been presented to have supernatural abilities. I'm curious how they will explain her lack of skills and abilities.

my opinions on what you said was bad (i dont mean this to invalidate your opinion, just sharing mine) 1. the sword would still me somewhat practical, but ive seen fare worse 2. the villagers did seem surprised that she is a female witcher, the guy sais "witcher! witcher!? who's coin did he take?" (meaning they are expecting a man). and in my opinion they look quite shocked when she shows her face and that she is in fact a woman. (also you said that there are no female witchers, but in book lore there is one i think) 3. the voice: yes i find it also quite dissapointing that they changed her voice actor. 4. ciri passing the trail of the grasses: Why would she want/didnt care to become infertile? : her father (emhyr var emreis) wants to have children with her, i dont think ciri would want that. why would she want to become a witcher? : she has looked up to geralt for a long time how did she survive the trail of the grasses? : maybe her elder blood gave her more of a chance to survive. how did she survive when shes a woman? : as i said before in the game lore there was a female witcher, plus the school of the cat regularly mutates girls (to my knowledge) it is posible the other schools only pick boys since men are biologically meant to have more muscles or something like that. but it is never said that girls CANT be witchers. 5. game engine: mostly i agree with you, but i dont want CDPROJEKTred to have a bethesda moment where their engine is outdated, but i dont know the witcher engine.

Thank you for your comment. 1. The sword was mostly a joke, I really don't care much about it, it's a game after all. 2. Hm. I'm not so sure, I watched the scene multiple times and I think they were mostly startled by her reaction (which was also used as a WOW moment for the audience for revealing Ciri). For the female witchers I already answered multiple times, we never read about one, we never see one, because they don't exist and probably for a good reason. 4. I think I never said anything about her becoming a Witcher in the meaning of fighting monsters, I'm concerned about the Trial. And yes, you can always find reasons why she would survive, but again I find that to be lazy writing.

IMO The Witcher (both books and games) = 1.Geralt, 2.Ciri, 3.Yennifer. Moving the focus from Geralt to Ciri isn't awful per se, but do they need to turn it into new sequel-fest like Star Wars? Their story arcs are finished, TWICE in books and then in games. Even then: - how will they deal with The Witcher 3 endings - are they going to make three smaller prologues like Cyberpunk? - how will they deal with her becoming a witcher - is it the Elven Blood immunity of some sort, or some super rare super efficient decoction? - how will they deal with Geralt and Yennifer - I swear if they go with TLOU2 Joel treatment, I'm going to flip. Just make an RPG in witcher universe back when witcher schools were strong, bring in the legendary Alzur or Falca. Let us make our own witcher or witchress and let us build the story. I don't mind Ciri and I don't mind playing as Ciri, but I have a baaad feeling about this.

They're gonna decide for one ending which will be canon. Most likely the one where Geralt gifts Ciri a silver sword and calls her a Witcher. They'll probably not kill Geralt or Yennefer. Most likely Geralt will have taken Vesemirs place or something.

Yup, all your points are valid. I was thinking of speaking about this in the video, but it was taking me too long to finish it already. They already said Geralt will appear, so I also hope is not going to be TLOU2 style, they are hopefully not that dumb. Star Wars sequels were really bad I didn't even watch the 3rd movie after The Last Jedi shitshow. Eleven Blood Immunity sounds like a powerful buff, why would you chose to lose it? :D

It's useful when you can turn it on and off 😄 But on a more serious matter - except the Lodge of Sorceresses (which Yennifer is still a part of) and her Emperor father (who is dead in one of the endings) there are no one left to hunt her... probably. So why give up your power? She was fine with keeping it and becoming the heir to Nilfgardian throne in one of the endings. 🤔 All I'm saying, I just don't get where they go with Ciri being a protagonist now and I bet they are planning on making another Trilogy which would feel like they want to try the NetFlix Witcher route here.

Ciri taking the trial of grass seems like it would be to stop her having children, she knows her elderblood would flow through her kids making them very valuable to the rich and upperclass. Breaking her destiny and setting herself up for being a witcher other than that I'm lost for why she would risk it

Interesting point, another comment here mentioned that Ciri is bothered by everyone trying to use her for their own agenda. So your point is she would take the Trial exactly because it would prevent her from having children? In order to not allow anyone to use her children and their blood?

@g3ral7 I'd say in some sense everyone using you is more so to help their destiny and ciri I'd imagine would be smart enough to realise that most people see her as a puppet and not a person no doubt her children would be the same. Taking the trial of grass would deny them and herself that destiny but it's all speculation haha

everybody sayin there can't be a female witcher, this is wrong. even the books never said a thing. all it said is that the survival rate of of a female is significantly less. and ciri is a whole different category.

I also don't remember the books saying - there can't be female witchers, that's why I was very precise in my wording - "female witchers do not exists". All the witchers we meet are male and there is no mention of female witchers. Therefore, we can logically conclude they don't exist and probably for a very good reason.

@@LordFluffymort I'm just advising. I have preordered a game only once in my life and it was a disaster of course (Cyberpunk). Geralt is stabbed, he doesn't explicitly die. Moreover, in Season of Storms it is implied that he is alive.

@@g3ral7 I have one more thought: Only this year in a new book did Sapkowski directly confirm that there are other Witcher schools. Before there were only clues like Bonhart medallions. Witcher 4 will be in production for about 3-4 years. What will you,defenders of lore, do if Sapkowski puts a female witcher in the next book. 😂 About preorders: I've only preordered the game twice in my life. They are worth more today than when I bought them. You have to know how to handle preorders and that's it.

Where are they breaking the plot of books and the game. As for the books. The games takes place after the books they have already change some lore from the books way back in Witcher 1. They changed the Wild hunt from spectral spirits to elves from a different realm. They concluded Ithlinnes Prophecy that the books haven't done. As far as the games Between W1 and 3 they have all had inconsistencies through out the games. Also Geralts story is done we all new this back when they released W3 so there is no plot to break. If your answer is girls can't be Witchers. Please show me in the books and games where it says girls can not be Witchers. I can show you in Thronbreaker ( the Gwent spin off game that is cannon in CDRP version of Witcher lore) that experiments were done on girls going through the trials.

"Somehow Palpatine returned" Is this cannon in the Star Wars universe or just lazy writing? The point I'm trying to make is that there are certain rules to story telling that shouldn't be broken. "Experiments on girls" doesn't mean it is common or accepted for them to do the Trial of the Grasses or support the existence of female withers. Moreover, there is a very clear distinction between young boys and girls - boys become witcheRs and girls become witches after being taken at a young age. If everyone can become everything and there are no rules in the universe, everything is anything and the whole thing smells like shit.

We already know that the game doesn't need to follow 100% to canon as it doesnt. But I think all they need is incredible story-telling and you could absolutely put Ciri in a position that she makes the decision- its the weight of a decision that is life or death anyways. So. As long as the Netflix writers don't get to touch this thing.

I don't like Ciri. I never liked her, not even in the books. If she is the sole main character, if they retire Geralt - the old white man - I won't buy the game. The Witcher = Geralt, Geralt = The Witcher. Fact! I don't have a problem with female main characters. Lara Croft, perfect! Horizon Zero Dawn? OK. But I - as a woman! - have a problem with my favorite character being replaced by a woman because someone is following an agenda. And I have a problem with a woman being turned into a man. Ciri is a strong woman, she doesn't have to be a Geralt cosplay! It would be so simple: let the players choose whether they want to play Geralt or Ciri. It is possible, Baldur's Gate shows how. But stop forcing your perverse new worlds on the players. They don't want it!

The game could be good with her as a protagonist as well, if well executed (at this point I'm worried if this is possible but I will give them the benefit). I also agree with you that they are trying to turn her into a cosplay which will make her less interesting as a character. Especially if they continue removing feminine features and just turn her into another "strong female character".

It depends what you mean by that. She was never a damsel or a pretentious lady but she was acting as a woman/girl. Also, in The Witcher 3 she has a much softer/feminine voice and look.
