THIS is not only my favorite of the entire franchise but it's like THE Child's Play--everything about it just WORKS, from the characters to the look to the music to the suspense to the way the story is told, letting us follow both hero and villain from the very start with JUST ENOUGH backstory that we don't need the first one, and we WAIT until the moment when Andy and Chucky meet again:):) Andy's further growth is great, from the innocent naive kid who just wants a friend and is tricked for his trust into a kid who is still innocent but knows he has to protect himself and try to protect others because he can't trust adults despite getting along with them. His relationship with Kyle is so good--I absolutely love HER arc being understandably annoyed at the start and gradually opening up to him until she finally realizes he was right and risks her life to save him. And THAT FACTORY CLIMAX! My favorite line in the whole thing: "I've spent too much time in this body--I'm F****** trapped in here!":):) And, of course, the ending with Andy and Kyle going home, wherever that is, while the huge Good Guy on the sign waves at the audience as that creepy carnival-sounding music plays into the credits:):) In all horror, this, 'The Stepfather 2', 'Leprechaun 2', and 'Leatherface: Texas Chainsaw Massacre III' are my top sequels that I love well over the originals despite liking those.

Child's Play 2 is my favorite of the Chucky sequels. The tone is dark and humorous, the camera work was creative, and the puppet looked fantastic. Plus, it has Gerrit Graham of Terror Vision, Phantom of the Paradise, and ::: in Mike voice::; was a renegade Q in Star Trek Voyager.

It’s interesting how many people don’t like Halloween 2 in retrospect. Many polls I’ve seen put 2018 as the best sequel. I hear many say 1981 is very boring. I never got that sense growing up, but I can definitely understand it after a recent viewing. Friday the 13th part 2 is much more engaging of a sequel imo.

Excellent sequel! I remember catching it on VHS when it came (was too young to see it in the theater) and I definitely appreciated how it expanded on the world set forth in the original film. Also, at the time, it was difficult to NOT see the TV spots - and repeat the tagline of “sorry Jack, Chuck’s back” on the playground. 😅 Only slight blemish would be Christine Elise…Kyle’s a great character here, but man, if she wasn’t one of the meanest/grumpiest celebs I’ve ever met. Total bummer.

Well, the late Gene Siskel gave the film zero stars out of four, calling it "A vicious, ugly little thriller." On Siskel and Ebert's Worst of 1990 show, Siskel further criticized the film, accusing director John Lafia of "prostituting himself" and rhetorically asking the audience "who was this trash made for and would you want to sit next to them in a theater?" this and Friday the 13th Part 6 he gave really bad reviews but both movies are fan favorites lol and another interesting trivia about this movie is that Jenny Agutter has disowned the film and hates it, saying that it was one of the worst filming experiences she's ever had. She was particularly disappointed when a lot of her best scenes were left on the cutting room floor, reducing Joanne to practically a minor character.
