I'm always going to have a soft spot for Freddy's Dead. I remember recording it onto a VHS tape back when it premiered on Pay-Per-View back in '92. Watched it all the time as a kid. This was the Freddy I was most familiar with until I finally saw the other Nightmare films later on. Even more than the movie itself, I always loved how the end credits did a recap of the entire franchise to that awesome Iggy Pop song! Made me excited to check out the other movies.

This movie holds a real special moment for me... it was the first rated R movie my dad took me too, i was very young like 6 which still surprised me.. my older brother came too which made it feel like guys night out and made me feel older. Like you tony, i was watching horror movies way too young than i shouldve been and actually seen part 1 before this, and only heard scenes from word of mouth about Parts 2 thru 5. Three things really stayed in my brain since that early viewing. The map scene and the video game scene were so hilarious to me, and i thought it was the coolest thing ever. Third, the end credits montage absolutely BLEW my mind away. As a 6 year old seeing flashes of some of the most insane shit in the series of movies was overload for me. For years since i slowly seentl he rest of the series, that montage and scenes were burned in my head. It was joy to see those scenes when i finally ended up watching 2, 3, 4 and 5 later on. Thanks for letting me relive this!!

I do agree with you tony. This film may be underrated but I think the comedic tone, especially the one liner puns, that Freddy does make it work. And to answer your question Tony the thing that freddy did with that one Stoner kid was from the Nick Arcade show. Like these one liners. 14:12 - The Demonic Warlock of Dreams 38:21 - Dr. Krueger's hearing Aid 43:15 - Now I'm playing with power.

@ConstantineFurman Жыл бұрын
No, it was Maggie. He wasn't able to leave on his own. He has to be in someone's mind. John was now an amnesiac, so he couldn't travel with him. But inside, say Maggie or Jason's mind, he can leave Springwood. Collecting the souls of Carlos, Spencer, and John would mean nothing anyway because Freddy is engorged on souls in this movie. He's the most powerful in this film that he is in the entire series. Having wiped out the youth population of Springwood gave him godlike powers to influence reality.

Great review. I think the reason people trash this movie is because of the comedy and Freddy "no longer being scary". But I don't mind the humor. I think everything else works. The story, the dream sequences are creative and I ft it wasa satisfying end to the franchise. In addition I always felt that Amanda gave Freddy up for adoption as soon as she gave birth to him and that Freddy got married and didn't start killing kids until Katherine was around 5 or 6.
