I am looking at IR1 Visa application for my Colombian spouse in about a year. I spend most of the year in an apartment with my spouse in Colombia, but I use an address of a friend in Florida for receiving mail and on my tax form. I stay at the friends house only a few weeks a year and pay rent only for the time that I am there. I have no signed lease with the friend. Do I actually have to get my own apartment with a signed lease to apply for the IR1 Visa? If so, how far in advance do I need to be in the U.S. for that? This talk of "domicile" by USCIS confuses me.

Hi , i have a question plz I am moroccan and my wife is us citizen, we applied on march 2019 for k1 visa after 9 months i got the interview but i was told by the consolar officer that all arr good and he took my passoprt and the proofs ..after two months i received a call that says my visa in denied and on November 2021 we gotarried and on February ww applied for Cr1 visa , so the question is can we apply for k-3 spouse visa for making the process gets faster Thanks

If you get married in Cyprus, you would have to apply for a CR1 because IR1 is for couples who have been married for longer than two years.
