Is Daily Driving a Porsche 911 GT3 RS a Terrible Idea?

This week I drove a Porsche 911 GT3 RS around town for a couple hours, and boy was this thing a beast.... also an absolutely terrible daily driver! From the obnoxiously loud GMG exhaust, to the admittedly beautiful but 'not-so-subtle' Ultraviolet Purple exterior paint color... and of course the massive wing at the rear -- this thing drew constant attention.
It was fun to field a few "ay man, what do you do for a living" questions, but I could quickly see the appeal of that fading after a few months of ownership. What wasn't so fun was having people constantly stare at you, some with admiration, and some with disdain... either way, not my cup of tea on daily basis.
However, when it comes to not only a ridiculously capable sports car (arguably supercar)... with the sensations that this car was able to provide at the press of an accelerator pedal: it doesn't get much better!!
Fast, loud, and extremely 'performance oriented'... the GT3 RS is much more at home on the track, or a wide open canyon road, than it is in the city or attempting to fulfill daily driving duties!!

That ultraviolet color and rear wing is incredibly loud before you even start the engine. Amazing car for sure, but certainly a weekend gig. I choose a volcano grey Taycan 4S for a daily, 560hp is fine not screaming for attention but still attractive. Great video Reo.

I’m under the impression that you like a more traditional type of car. You’re correct that an RS is no daily driver but I’ve never met anyone owning one (myself included) who would daily it. It’s like wearing a tuxedo every day all year round. Not the right tool for the job. However- as a “toy” driven 2-3 three times a week in the summer, and perhaps a couple of track days per year, there is no substitute. IMO too many sports cars are soft. Austin Martin comes to mind. I’m actually very comfortable in the carbon buckets and (mine’s a 991.2RS) swapping the center exhaust to a well designed aftermarket is not crazy loud- it keeps the valves so when you drive below 4000 rpm it’s not loud, neighbours don’t complain and during through town doesn’t give you stink-eye looks- 14:06 and even above that it’s not crazy loud unless you are accelerating hard. Finally yes the suspension is stiff but I’ve had worse. So again, not a daily driver but absolutely not uncomfortable on most roads and not obnoxious when driving civilly through town. Not sure if the 991.1RS has exhaust valves so that may be why you found it a little obnoxious

I own a GT3RS same color and as much as I love it dd'ing it would not be enjoyable mainly because of how hard it is to get in and out of the seats. I have had two Turbos a 991 and a 992 and they are faster than the GT3RS but boring in comparison. The RS is so much more enjoyable to take for a drive.

@@Reoniz I would say the new Cayman GT4 would be awesome or even the GTS. The drive and handling is sublime and you get a trunk and a frunk. I loved my Cayman GTS although I miss my Boxster and will probably go that route next time.
