IMO that shows someone who can afford to drive the cars he's buying. He's not fussed about re-sale value, and he's allowing himself to enjoy the car without restriction. More people need to be like this and enjoy them! At this rate the manufacturers will only give you a 30k mile warranty as that's all people seem to do . . . .
@HansBrodiAutomotive3 жыл бұрын
True, I agree a 100% but I think with some of the wealthy buyers it is impossible to do 175k miles. If you own 30 cars like many rich guys do 3k miles per car is a lot
@Fioravanti.803 жыл бұрын
I do not share the view that people “need to” be like you say. Each to their own. There is nothing wrong or off about wanting to savour the moment by using the car sparingly, and really appreciate those special moments. The icing on the cake is preservation of the value, and with some luck, appreciation too.

Usually, the gearbox will need to be rebuilt every 100,000km, replacing all the bearings and some of the gears. The costs are about 5,000 GBP to 10,000GBP, depends on using brand new parts or used parts, or replaced the entire gearbox. (Incl. labour cost) The engine will need to be rebuilt between 120,000km to 150,000km, replacing all the gaskets, bearings, cleanings valves... The costs are about 4,000 GBP to 6,000 GBP, depends on using brand new or used parts. There's a great chance that the GT3 owner has spent his money twice as much as the GT3 current value... These "ultimate" owners really know what they are paying for, and they know what they are seeking. Respect!

There is an even more famous 996 turbo with over 500k miles that was specially adapted by an F1 parts delivery company to take parts from F1 constructors in the UK to f1 European races. overnight. It would famously drive trough the night to deliver parts before the race faster than anything else! Would be great to see a film on that car and see where it is. I think once you get over the garage queen mileage ‘limits’ it doesn’t make a lot of difference, by that I mean once you pass the low and average mileage of a ‘collector’ car, as the miles grow they make less and less effect on value, so either have a garage queen to look at and as a arguable investment or just drive and enjoy, for me the miles of driving make much more sense and great memories than just an occasional drive or polish.
