Technological progress will always be a double edged sword. One the one hand it provides efficiency, productivity and entertainment. On the other hand, it is a ressource that is in the controll of a few, and their intentionts can either be good or harmful/manupulative.

I think if he ever gets bored of minecraft content he has a huge fan base that would follow onto something like this. The kids that watch will be adults in 10 years so maybe they'll mature to enjoy this content more aswell.

Interesting thing with data storage is that in some countries home electronics are becoming more and more robotic and connected with the internet, like the robotic vaccum cleaner. These devices send information to the owners of how their work progress during the day (like an app showing what parts of your house the robot has visited), but also sending that information and more to the manufacturer who then can sell that information to another company. Many doesn't know the extent of targeting marketing and thinks that the adds they get is the same for everyone...

I like the cliff metaphor. I would word it like this: "While the risk is great, the potential benefit is far greater." In a potential life or death situation this forces our hand to work on a solution, so it would be far better to start now rather than rush when it is an inevitability.

I had a problem with an individual using just such info and stalking me for months online on multiple platforms, people can learn more about you than close friends and fam might even know, its concerning. Such unnecessary stress trying to suss out who it might be, still not 100% sure. So ive had to sort out privacy and such but i found the problem is you can disable settings but i find there is always a backup stored somewhere else. There is also the problem of identity theft, technology age is scary.

I personally think that if AI gets advanced enough it could be acknowledged as sentient and be treated as a human being. If you think about it we're just robots, just made from different materials. But anyways, I wonder what would happen if there was an AI analyzing data for a company or government when it gained sentience and suddenly realized what it was doing is immoral. The main AI gathering data for them would stop. How would that company function if they lost the ability to gather data?
@ClareBearCB5 жыл бұрын
AI and computers being used to focus ads, read political views and basically learn about you is just psychological profiling. It has always been done, the only difference is that now it's a machine being used to do it instead of a professional in psychology. I remember when I was younger, seeing political adverts on the tv and they were always focused on the political party that was usually the winner in that area. For example, if you lived in an area of the uk that always had labor in power, you would see more of the campaigning and advertising for that party than the others. The only difference now is that it can be done on a smaller scale. If you dont like targeted ads, used the incognito version of your internet browser

Gotta race to the edge of the cliff to build up the speed to fly off it, hey? I do think technology is the answer; innovation; and to me that points to things like non-uranium nuclear, enviro-bubbles, encouraged local sustainable living, and so on. For AI, I'm hoping it will solve political representation, but I do fear it's unbelievably easy to misuse.

The I havent done anything wrong and nothing to worry about is very naive. For example in the states this is used alot with cops asking to search your car. But the thing is let's say you drive Uber and gave someone a ride even for free. You never know what they left in your car or dropped. If they find something in your car and no one claims its automatically the drivers responsibility. Sometimes it's in your best interest to excercise your rights and not willing submit to a search you dont have to that could cause you legal issues.
