You are amazing! You are helping me So much! I was in the mind set of Wait and watch and do the natural stuff which I did for 2 months after my mammogram 2 years ago. (I drank lots of organic green tea too) Then had a mamagram one year ago with NO changes so I continure to wait and watch (but slacked on the green tea). Then this year my mammogram showed increase in micro calc. So bi9psy time and lo and behold DCIS with grade 2 and 3. So I am treating with surgery....the big one ....which I know is like eating a bowl of rice with a backhoe, but I don't care. I am 67 and I have one grandchild who I want to see grow up. You have helped me SO much with your information in these videos. And I am a RN!!!!! Please. continue your work. You are amazing!

SUCH a tremendous help!!! Thank you for explaining this. I did follow my surgeon’s advice of having an immediate mastectomy, but my head was swimming with doubt. Just THIS simple explanation has put me at ease that I made the right decision. All the best in your new podcast adventure. ❤

Yay for normalizing changing your mind on something when presented with new information! Awesome. I was diagnosed at the end of August with grade 3 DCIS and I don't qualify for a lumpectomy, very nervous for my DMX in a couple of weeks but I feel solid in my decision. Been enjoying your channel lately, thank you!

I was diagnosed with DCIS in February 2024, had a double mastectomy March 2024, the biopsy of the mastectomy showed it had developed into invasive cancer, and then with further testing my cancer is Her2 positive. No one expected this, no doctors, not me. I am grateful for my doctors and the treatment that I am on and I am hopeful for a positive outcome.

If I had not chosen a DBL MX for my DCIS that was in 2 blocks, in the rt breast, I would not known about my 4mm ILC lesion in the left breast. I am 1 yr from that surgery I had on 5/24/23. I did have immediate natural tissue SGAP reconstruction. I am very happy with it. I just did not have what it takes emotionally to have a flat closure. We all have to travel our own roads with BC diagnosis for sure. Thank you so much for your videos. You have a calming demeanor and show such strength. I have yet to start an AI, I am small framed and 64 now. Have osteopenia, I walk every day and do wts. The risks do Not out weight the benefits. Doing natural approach. Using compounded estriol vag 3x wk. Tumor marker tests drawn every 6 mos now. . Oncotype DX score of lesion was low. Very Thankful. I did have the “DCIS-is -not-cancer crowd” say just wait and see. Carcinoma does mean cancer. It is invasive carcinoma if it leaves the ducts. IDC. ~RN here, not giving med advice either, just my story.

Your experience is so similar to mine..am 64, a RN, 1 wk ago had dbl mx for DCIS 4.4 cm gr 3, in R, w/ comedo nx, st 0, found 3mm LCIS in L, have tissue exp in now, am so glad of my choice of surgery. Sorry about all the abbreviations!

I feel I was let down by my surgeon at the beginning of all this. As you described it I had the worst type of DCIS. I should have had a mastectomy, I would have chosen a mastectomy, had I understood any of this. It is shocking to me how much patients are left to fend for themselves.

I'm so sorry to hear this. Yes, many surgeons are burned out and not very caring, I find. The others are the opposite. Such a mix!

Hi Kathleen, I live in South Africa. The sun is always shining here and there is always the risk of developing skin cancer if you have a light skin. I developed a growth on the lower eye lid of my right eye. I do not know if it is cancer or just a benign growth but I went on a high nutrition diet for about two months and the growth have shrunk noticeably. I would like to share the diet with you. The soup Ingredients: - two handfuls of Chopped broccoli, one chopped onion (purple), two bags of green tea, two pinches of mixed herbs, two sticks of cut celery, Two handfuls of frozen and crushed spinach or kale, half a table spoon of crushed garlic, Three shakes of black pepper, seven shakes of turmeric, two tablespoons full of apple cider vinegar (with the mother), one bag of white onion powder soup for flavour, a hand full of cooked red speckled beans and a handful of cooked mince meat. Just add all the ingredients in a pot, add boiling water and switch the stove on high till the water boils. Then lower the heat until the water simmer, Let the soup simmer for an hour. The soup is now ready. I would only drink water in the morning. At 12h00 I would start eating the soup. There will be about two helpings that you can eat in the 12h00 to 18h00 time frame. I also ate a fruit salad every day in the 12h00 to 18h00 time frame. (Note: Apparently turmeric reduces the effect of some chemotherapy drugs and thus should not be taken during chemotherapy.) During the rest of the week I would also eat food that contains vitamin D like avocado’s, mushrooms, liver and eggs in the 12h00 to 18h00 time frame. It seems to be working for me, maybe it will also work for you. I pray to God the Father in the name of Jesus Christ that you will be cancer free. Amen. I was diagnosed with DCIS (high grade with necrosis) on 3-25-24. I had extremely dense breast tissue with DCIS on the left side only. I chose to have a bilateral mastectomy with reconstruction on 5-6-24. I wanted to avoid the possibility of it becoming invasive and needing to have chemo or radiation. I have met several women whose stories served as a warning to me not to take this lightly. I will be forever thankful for your videos. No one ever discussed the grades or the importance of necrosis with me. Knowing that was present made my decision easier. I found your videos immediately after my diagnostic mammogram showed what was likely DCIS, so when I read the biopsy report, I knew what to look for. Thank you!! Please keep doing what you’re doing. It is invaluable!

I too was diagnosed with high grade DCIS with necrosis on left. After 2 lumpectomies the surgeon kept finding more DCIS and invasive cancer. I had to push for a bilateral mastectomy and am so glad I did. Undetected DCIs was found on right side . Many mammograms and mri could not see DCIS.

I was just diagnosed with dcis, grade 2 with comedo necrosis, no invasive found. Seeing a surgeon tomorrow. Thank you so much for your videos. Have helped so much. And have started seeing the sites saying dcis isnt cancer. Well, mine is, and telling people its ok makes me furious. They could be killing people. One that does this actually does consultations to sell HRT, you know, the hormones that specifically feed dcis. I am receptor positive, so in essence, she would be feeding dcis so it could advance faster, and telling people it isnt cancer. You have been a voice of reason in this. Thank you for sharing your journey.❤

It’s a very hard issue to understand because there is good evidence on both sides. I’m just so glad that I found a doctor who knew the latest. I went right to the source of the research-UCSF is where they began questioning and testing the theory that it may be less harmful. There are always so many shades of gray in these cases! Similarly, most women seem to do fine on non-synthetic forms of HRT. It’s very nuanced. Not as black and white as they make it seem.

Hi...sorry you feel like those of us in the "DCIS is not Cancer" camp "could be killing people." This is simply wrong! There is a reason DCIS is highly controversial and many experts discussing for years removing the term "Carcinoma" from the diagnosis. Also, it has been disproven that HRT contributes to breast cancer. Please see the book or listen to podcast "Estrogen Matters." Nothin on my website puts anyone in danger. I don't think it's so much a "mystery" as to whether DCIS is cancer. Whether DCIS is cancer is one of the first questions I asked my breast surgeon-- and the answer? It depends on how you define "cancer." So, not so much a mystery but an academic issue or even a matter of semantics. My surgeon ultimately responded that DCIS is not cancer, but then ever since has consistently referred to my DCIS as cancer 🙂

I was diagnosed with DCIS in early May and I had surgery at the end of May. I just completed 3 weeks of radiation therapy. I saw an Oncologist today and he said that whether I take Tamoxifen or not, my outcome will be the same. It bothers me when doctors push medication and I realized that it worries me when a doctor doesn't recommend a medication that they say will continue to decrease your chances of a recurrence.

I only eat wild and pasture raised organic meats. My husband hunts and so I know that I'm not getting a pregnant or lactating animal when I'm eating larger-scale red meat. That's important to me.

I being referred to a general surgeon. Is that what I should do?

I would get a referral to a breast surgeon. I didn't feel comfortable with my referral to a general surgeon. I felt that he wanted to remove more breast tissue than was necessary and I believe he really would have disfigured my breast. I would definitely recommend that you try to find a female surgeon.

I wish I had seen your videos regarding the various mastectomy options before I had mine as it would have been most useful and I would have looked into my options much more closely, and most probably have chosen a different route.
