One thing thats worth noting is that the sitar, in the west, is best known for having a crazy number of strings and its use in psychadelic rock. However, Demyx's only has three strings, nothing between the frets, and a weird lack of sound effects when plucked in 2 and Days. Now some if that may be technical limitations, sure. His fight has a lot going on, so I don't doubt that they'd remove the sound of him playing to save on RAM space. But isn't it odd that one of the most complicated stringed instruments in the world would be implimented in such a simplistic and barebones way? Especially by someone who is normally so lazy and chill, but had a fucking flip switch in his head for two seconds when he goes "Silence, traitor"? Oh, and nevermind the fact that he has a unique death animation. Everyone else fades away, but Demyx turns into a bubble and pops. I've had a theory since first playing KH2 back in '05 that Demyx never actually died because of that. Why have him die that way? We already know from CoM that Org members dissolve when killed, and the only other exception is GBA Lexaeus who turns himself into a damn darkness bomb. So why the hell doea Demyx have this unique animation where he embraces his element? I still, to this day, am convinced that he did so intentionally to flee instead of being defeated. Org members being able to teleport is nothing knew. Half of em do it. And it feels in line with Demyx to have him throw in the towel early and bail. So, tell me Nomura, where the *fuck* did he go between 2 and 3? Did he die? Or is his "under the radar" comment from 3 also targetted at the heroes for seeming to just kinda forget about him all together?

Demyx doesn't turn into a bubble and pop, but water does replace the usual fading animation after wisps of darkness start to waft off of him so I can see where one might get the idea that he fled. The problem with that is that we've seen what it looks like when Organization members flee while faking their deaths, since Axel does it twice. He sinks into a pool of darkness. Also, the conversation among numbers 9 through 12 of the original Organization in Kingdom Hearts 3 makes it clear that they were all among those brought from the past to occupy replicas created by Vexen.

That those four were very important at some point and Xemnas felt the need to snatch them up before someone else did. That said I totally missed the dark wisps coming off Demyx when he dies. Thats a good catch.

If the Citar is supposed to invoke specific emotions, I'm surprised he doesn't possess the power to influence emotions of those with hearts, especially given the body area the water chackra is associated to. Perhaps he needs a pocket dimension to have such power, like Naminé, Zexion and Marluxia required the Castle. Nobodies were truly underused.

Ever since Ventus was revealed as the one who kills Strelitzia (while possessed by Darkness) in UnionX, I have always hoped that when Demyx says "Silence traitor" before his fight, he isn't referring to Roxas in Sora's heart betraying the Organization, but Ventus inside Sora's heart betraying the Dandelion leaders that he chose himself. I'm really hoping we get some time with Ven, Strelitzia, Luxord, Marluxia, and Larxene in 4.

There is another good video on explaining the possibility of him being the master of masters. I can’t remember who it was by but she pretty much brought up that when he dies he goes to light rather than darkness, the no name Keyblade eye possibly being a third eye (a symbol of intelligence), and the fact he is inspired by Charley from Flowers of Algernon a character who starts out very dumb but is very emotional but becomes smarter and more cold. Also in 358/2 days him and xigbar are always together. Like xigbar interacts with Demyx more than anyone else in that game aside from maybe Roxas cause he’s the main character of that game.

I personally think hes in a similar camp to Luxord in being from the "Real World". Both have not been shown in any current media and both have weapons more in line of mundane objects (Zexion's Grimoire is still technically a traditional casting focus in fantasy). It would also fit his rockstar persona he prolly emulates from memories because we havent really seen a proper rockstar.

I would guess one part that people might have struggled with the water figure gimmick, but then there's also the fact that you immediately get thrown into a series of fights without your party, where if you fail, the checkpoint is immediately before Demyx

Oddly enough, he might actually be the Master. He and Luxord are the biggest mysteries in the entirety of Organisation 13. Seriously, all we know about their backgrounds is that they're both descendants of Ancient Keybladers. Outside of that, we know nothing. However, where Luxord went along with Xehanorts schemes for his own reasons (likely that he realised there was someone behind the scenes pulling strings, and wanting to get back at them - hence why he gave that card to Sora). You might think this is a stretch, but if Luxord wasn't suspicious, or if he was actually the Master, why would he confront Xigbar? Demyx on the other hand is, honestly, almost to carefree. He doesn't care that he's being used by others, even as a complete person, or that he got replaced by a replica amongst the new Organisation. What's more, despite being involved with dangerous individuals/events and knowing it (he's DIED twice, for crying out loud - once when he became a Nobody, and again when he fought Sora), he doesn't hesitate to put himself in even more danger, despite no apparent gain for himself (when he betrayed the organisation and helped Evan). And, that's in contrast to his noted cowardice. It's almost like he's so sure that in his continued safety, that believes nothing he does will bring him permanent harm. As if he knows what's going to happen almost. What was it he said in KH3? About him apparently being so low key that even when everyone knows he's a spy, no one expects him of being a spy.

I want to remind everyone here that not only is Demyx afaik one of the only two people left in the series with the "nort eyes" as the fanbase affectionately calls them (the other one being Xigbar) that is alive, but also Demyx is the literal ONLY CHARACTER in KH3 that isn't a Disney character that we don't see period during the credits of KH3 or Re:Mind, when everyone else either was dead by now/yeeted back to their timeline or was at the beach party or Radiant Garden. And given Demyx by the end just sort of drops off suspiciously the one thing the heroes need to bring back Roxas without even realizing it and then just dips without letting anyone even ask what is up with him, and Master Xehanort HIMSELF says he is one of four original Org XIII members from the ancient keyblade war who are the key to everything and the only one without even a hint of what his backstory is at all otherwise? We 100% have yet to see the finale of this guy. Especially since he is pretty much the only nobody left assumedly besides Xigbar. And Sora is about to stumble onto the biggest shock of all time when Demyx finally has the truth revealed about him and reveals his true colors after being basically in the shadows of the entire organization/series since KH2.

@@marlirium I took a little of inspiration from him, however he's very different from the Iudex not only in his true attitude (like, I kinda forgot in the other comments that he's like the archetype of "big brother character") but also in his appearance, bc... (pls don't kill me lmao) He's a furry character... And the reason behind this is for 2 reasons, first I wanted another Nobody character who wasn't another "anime character" bc I always wondered about why all Org.XIII members weren't idk, people of Disney worlds, so his backstory is that he comes from Zootopia; but also I wanted to take the concept of "protect the Order" to another level bc unlike Donald and Goofy, when he goes to another worlds he takes human form in order to blend in and his "disguise" in *kinda* like Xemnas, or rather his features: white hair, dark skin

It’s not a Nomura thing but an English script thing. (Not “localization”-KH’s English script is written parallel to the Japanese script, not necessarily “translated” from it. Giving Demyx a spot would have been in consideration, but Saïx explicitly jockeyed for that not to be the case and for him to be a benchwarmer for the specific purpose of bringing Roxas and Xion back via the Replicas. His low status and irrelevance is true in-universe to the point where it became significant to the plot… As for Terra-Xehanort, he’s just a vessel… always has been. If Xehanort actually managed to achieve full control over Kingdom Hearts and ascend to godhood or whatever he was cooking it’s doubtful he’d have needed the youthful vessel any longer, since he probably could have just Made One as he saw fit.

I was hoping that KH:MoM would've hinted that Demyx is MoM since Melody of Memories is a rhythm game and Demyx has an instrument as a weapon. Also MoM is in the title for Melody of Memories and MoM also means Master of Masters There personalities are similar. If we take examples from other media this wouldn't be the first thing that's made the "dummy" character be the "bbeg" Example Naruto: Tobi was a classic dummy/comic relief character then he turned out being Obito who has been there the whole time fought the 4th setting up pieces you know the rest. If I remember correctly Nomura once said in an interview there are no coincidences in Kingdom Hearts. I could also be wrong. We won't know until MoM takes off the hood. However, if I were a betting man I'd go all in the Demyx is MoM. What do you think?

I think this might've also been a case of a Nobody attempting to regrow itself. *Spoilers for Dream Drop Distance ahead* At the climax of the game, Xemnas says something along these lines: "a body without a heart will attempt to regrow it the first chance it gets". Seeing as the mind and body are technically considered separate in this series, what if everything you've said here is a representation of how Demyx's heart trying to manifest in a body whose mind is subconsciously (or even perhaps consciously) trying to resist that manifestation? Clearly, all of the original Organisation members believe the only way to regain their hearts is through Xemnas' plan (except maybe Xigbar, Xion and Roxas). So, what if, every time their heart tries to assert itself, they bury it by falling deeper and deeper into a particular persona? A form of self-sabotage for a group of people who've been manipulated, lied to or simply outsmarted. Or maybe I'm just waxing poetic about the funny sitar man. Who knows. 😮

MoM is just the original Sora from an another timeline or other BS from Nomura. At some point, he failed everything even if he managed to gain huge abilities, in his world. Kairi, Goofy, Donald, Riku, everyone is dead. Probably not from his own will, but more about his actions or inactions. He knows that every ittinerance of himself fail at some point. Everything we see in the license, he probably done that 30 or 40 times before, only to find the unique version of himself able to not let this happen. Not being alone and with no friends.

We still don't know what demyx's true name is so there is a chance taking out the x you can either get edym( pronounced like adam) or demy I haven't found a definition for edym but demy is a females name meaning half (demyx first Trans character? Lol) but this definition could be like a split personality and the MOM could be a alter personality to demyx or vice versa.
