I wish I could give this 1000 likes. I have questioned continuously if I even have dpdr because when this happened my anxiety actually -went away-. It was like the motor had overheated and just turn off completely. Suddenly I could think, feel....no more anxiety either. And everyone talks about the anxiety aspect of dpdr which is not helpful to many.

The amygdala and hippocampus become disintegrated and the hippocampus shrinks, when we have a lot of childhood trauma. Most people, who have had DPDR for a long time have had chronic relational trauma in childhood. After all this, the DPDR comes in to shield us from soul-crushing, painful emotions. Trauma experts like Giovanni Liotti, Allan Schore and even more experts in trauma have concluded this, and it is a mystery to me, how nobody knows about this. There are so many "experts" claiming they can cure you, but they know practically nothing about dissociative disorders. It is not just an overwhelmed state. For many, it is a response that exists to shield us from further pain, loss, grief, guilt, shame, humiliation etc, and to keep us from experiencing the crushing pain our childhood brought us.

Yeah I dont think its just anxiety. Ive always had moments in my life where my anxiety was heightened but it didnt cause dp/dr. Ive also felt depersonalized but not really anxious just strange. Been in it bad for the last 4 months and Ive had it before like this years ago it seems to have crept back in my life and its the hardest thing ive ever had to go through. I have been trying to do more things to take me out of my comfort zone to train my brain that everything is alright even tho I might be feeling very strange. Definitely have some good days where it almost feels gone then it just comes right back in full force and its so disheartening. I wanna beat this stupid bully dp/dr!

So im just... Stressed out? Like extremely over the top stressed out... I mean look, before dpdr I was happy n all that, and heck even in moments of stress I would feel like in control and calm, nothing was out of shape I guess you could say. But I guess it wasn't a really big hit instead of the small ones. But hey if I can recover from this and feel myself again then i can wait it out, no biggy. Side note, what exactly recovery means you know? Like I wanna be the angry me or the happy me or the anxious me. Heck I still remember what it was like back then, I'm still able to project emotion from those memories of normality. One thing for sure, sometimes I have feelings that remind me of my very younger self, as in like"man I'm feeling like im 13 or 15." Im having some bizzare symptoms but you know what's great? Me mum had those too and recovered in 8 years, almost the same cause too.

Practice bramacharya so it can heal your brain 🧠 as it uses semen for nourishment. Instead of spilling your seed, allow it to nourish your mind by pushing it upwards thru your spine and into your brain. Many videos and papers on this.

Hi Swamy, I am grateful for all your videos. I thought I finally had made some progress towards recovery from DP but I seem to have hit a road block. I keep getting hit with new sources of stress such as panic buying happening again and an interview for a full time job. How can I recover and bring my nervous system back to normal if stressful things keep happening to me? What should be my next step? I feel like I keep going backwards.
@RealSwamyG4 жыл бұрын
Well, stress is going to be there in life. There are few things you can do: 1) Ask if this stress is necessary to go thru right now? 2) if it's unavoidable, see how you can make yourself stronger. You can't eliminate all stress, but you can make yourself stronger to endure stress 3) What other things are you doing to compensate for stress? Getting messages. Being with a loved one. Singing. Therapy. Travel. Meditation etc etc

But what about the people who experienced intense anxiety from the very start of these symptoms. I feel as though if I had been totally calm from the day I first experienced Depersonalization I would have recovered within weeks. Perhaps dpdr isn’t caused but perpetuated by anxiety. The anxiety may be responsible for its long lasting presence in people
@RealSwamyG4 жыл бұрын
Good question. What do you think caused your anxiety? I that whatever that is, put you in a stress response, which was responsible for both your anxiety and feelings of DP/DR. If your stress response had a meter or a knob, then turning it to 5 produces feelings of anxiety, turning it to 7 produces feelings of DP/DR, when it goes up to 9 or 10, then you experience extreme dissociation, numbing, blank mind, etc.
@RealSwamyG4 жыл бұрын
What keeps your anxiety and DPDR going is the way you react to it. The more you react to it with fear the longer it lasts. Also, if there are stressors that you keep experiencing (other than your anxiety and DPDR), then that can keep them last longer than usual.
@finballamy78784 жыл бұрын
Swamy G mine was triggered by a bad experience on marijuana, but retrospectively There was a lot of repressed emotion and anxiety that I had ignored leading up to that point. I am certain however, that the anxiety concerning Depersonalization and, as you said, the lack of acceptance of its presence are the main reasons for Depersonalization’s persistence. The 7/10 stress level requires a period of relaxation and stability to return to normal, somebody who is obsessively worrying about Depersonalization would be making this process impossible

@RealSwamyG4 жыл бұрын
I'm not sure if consuming porn causes DP/DR. Porn definitely can cause feelings of shame, depression, erectile dysfunction, etc. There's a clear link between drugs and DP/DR, so I'd try to come off of whatever drugs in a safe way.
