He is the GOAT just as a hitter alone for achieving 50/50. His passion is pitching, so imagine when he can hit and pitch at the same time. See the way he pitched out Trout who is one of the best hitter ever at the WBC? He is probably the greatest athletes in the 21st century if he keep this up for a few more seasons.

Shohei always took the longer road, throughout his baseball career. Paid off big time. So inspirational!
@chilltownallstarАй бұрын
Yes he is. He’s on judges level at the bat and a top 5 pitcher. Also, idk why his base running isn’t valued as much fielder on defense. He runs more per game imo than any fielder out there. Walking Ohtani and or him hitting a single is just as goood as hittting a double or a triple because of his base stealing. Walking judge is a single, walking Ohtani is a probable double and or triple. To me Ohtani is the best and should never be downplayed as a DH because of his base running. Idk how these ppl calculate war but Ohtani should be a lot closer to judge than it appears. Judge is an above average fielder but not the best but Ohtani is one of if not the best base runner.
@LL-tc1reАй бұрын
Yeah formulas really need to be updated. I understand as a DH he gets a negative WAR so is actually penalized.
@chilltownallstarАй бұрын
@@LL-tc1re it’s dumb imo. A routine fly ball should not be valued as much as any stolen base.
@kenshin521Ай бұрын
I’d say he’s slightly behind Judge in terms of hitting. But on the base pads and pitching puts him way over the top. Judge is an all time great, but I can see another hitter coming along and matching him. I don’t think you see another Ohtani in your lifetime.

He's a culmination of all the greats that has inspired him to become who he is. Unlike Lefraud James who constantly refers to himself as the "King" or the "GOAT" or whatever superlative that feeds his ego, Ohtani is a class act. Like Jordan, he highly respects those who came before him and would never separate himself of this continuum of legends who helped evolve the game to what it is today.

Because there still exist people who just have to nitpick and can't deal with others' greatness. I heard someone poopoo him because "he hasn't been fielding, won't earn a Golden Glove." As if he hasn't made amazing plays as a pitcher! He will excel at whatever capacity of the game he is limited to. He can't clone himself. Haters just gonna hate. The rest of us acknowledge greatness.
