I seem to have angered some Hardcore Dune Spice Wars players 😅 Let me explain. I am a GAMER with a KZbin Channel. I am NOT a game journalist, or game EXPERT. I share my own personal opinion on games from a a fairly normal gaming point. Not a become an absolute unit on every game I play point lol. No hate here 😊 But please understand that everyone plays games differently 🤗

I wouldn't say you angered them, but they simply disagree with you. Should be fair for others to disagree with your opinion and present theirs. I think this is an incredibly well made game because of all the intricacies like politics, espionage and different winconditions. Another point for me personally is how well the vibe of Dune is caught in this game. Music adapting to what you're doing ingame, whispers in the background when you send your agents on missions and spin intrigues against your enemy. Its the little things :)

Dude, u really don't have to defend urself, were just talking...and i dont really understand the logic of "everyone plays differently" as a reason to not cover the main content of the game of which u are trying to give information to people if it's worth it to them. Look, if the video was called, lets talk about dune, thats fine. Lets say ur making q video called is "world of warcraft worth it" and then lets say ur ignoring raiding and mythic plus..if your not doing those things, u cant say the game isnt worth it. you might wanna say, i dont find those parts fun, i understand im skipping the main part of the game that people play the game for but that's my opinion and why it doesn't suit me. I mean, you can say whatever u want, just rephrase the title of ur video and its intent.

You posted an opinion online, expect criticism, hate, love and feedback. It doesn't matter who you are or what your channel is, you put a video out there, so deal with it.

@@MarkSkids yes but people should criticise like an adult not like an 12 year old kid. Usually it's just you suck kinda criticism which is not helpfull at all.

it does not seem like you gave this game the attention it deserves. Multiple minor things you critique are explained in the tutorial and would make your games easier to manage and understand. You not knowing the basics of 4x and saying it brings nothing unique baffles me. I've been playing the game for about 100 hours and the amount of things you can do and scheme against both ai or real players is very fun. The ui is very good, some things need explenation, but you can pause the game and mostly get what you need to know out of the ui so learning stuff isn't that complicated. The design around the ffa aspect is incredible, fun and I have not played anything like it, the only other 4x rts I've played and heard of is Northgaard which is made by the same company. The game has win conditions that you can understand fairly easily, and track if you pay attention and the game sets you up for fun schemes. If you're going to go in fighting that can be a good strategy, but always expect whatever win condiotion you're going for to be contested by all players when you're getting close to a win. Some situations made by the map and other players will make you change up part of you're strategy making no games I've played the same. The end game has fun last minute hail mary's which I find incredibly fun, unlike other 4x games like civilization which seems very hard to come back in.

Great fun game, has modes for everyone. Can do single player with pause vs ai (or with friends). Multiplayer at 1.5x without pause turns it into a pretty in depth RTS when you feel like playing more fast paced. The game has some of the best win con variety in a 4x type game that I have seen, vs AI every win con is viable (though obviously some are much faster than others).

People are going to have different opinions and that's fine. However the idea that everyone would have to come to terms with not playing multiplayer is a strange one; I find that this game is quite satisfying multiplayer even in games where you don't win. The political aspect and FFA means that it often turns into a 3v1 alliance against whomever is winning and as a result you might have good successes during a game even when you don't win it outright.

im not a big fan of ur perspective...ur saying its overpriced and in the same vein, hinting on "this is a super complex game which i havent really devled into"...like i dont mind u getting into the multiplayer, getting into ffa, which is btw super unique and saying it dosent bring anything new is objectivly wrong, theres nothing like this, and then say its overpriced in ur perspective, thats fine. ur like glossing over all the complexity of the game and then say, its overpriced, well duh dude. you sayd like a word on politics, economy, hedge and more....the politics is super rich, same as economy win cons, hedge win cons, combining all these elements, scheming, talent trees for each faction... and im also very emphatic to you not winning in multiplayer, i think what u should have sayd that this game really is suited to someone whos lookin for a hardcore, complicated game, that games run for about an hour and 20, who are willing to put in the work and learn it. if not, this is prob not for you or stick to single player

I thought the game was pretty alright, but I bought the game for the art. I think the design of many of the units, structures, the UI, and the music are all really intriguing to me Most of the games I buy and play today are for the art because most gameplay loops have been done to death after a few decades of gaming

I understand what you mean fully, I’ve played so many games now that nothing is ever “new” But things can be unique and this is certainly unique

Thanks, love your enthusiasm about all things video games. This game is also out on Xbox Game Pass if you any of you nerds pay for that. Just trying to enjoy gaming and not take it too seriously. Cheers.

Thanks for the review, I'm gonna try it out. Its currently $35 on Steam in the US.... Not happy but i love RTS games. Lisan -al Gaib!!!!!!

Wow... the "hardcore" gamer rage here is real and is so embarrassing. I myself have 60+ hours into the game, and I am a huge Dune fan. Is the game complex? Yes, it certainly is... there are multiple ways to win, multiple ways to play, and each faction has a unique set of abilities, perks, and negative traits to take in. And yes, the multiple layers of complexity (win conditions), managing spice production vs taxes, renegades/rebels... and the worms! Not only can the worms attack you, but they can royally disrupt spice production, and you can use thumpers to indirectly attack an opponent. Thumpers are by no means a "major" feature, but rather a fine detail that accentuates what the game is capable of. On paper, this all sounds great! Unfortunately, the game is such a slog! Each game takes at least an hour from start to finish. The campaign is EXTREMELY lacking - no cinematics, no briefings, no additional polish. Remember the Dune games from Westwood Studios? DSW certainly has better graphics and a smarter AI, but the extra polish outside the game play is extremely lacking. When you beat the campaign, you simply get a "Victory" screen and that's it. After that, it takes you back to the main menu. You don't get any unlocks, no additional unit/faction customizations, nothing. What a disappointment. Such a missed opportunity to explore the franchise lore. Also, in the campaign, assassination is usually disabled and you usually have to win via domination. Moreover, this means you usually need all of the main base buffs/debuffs to cleanly kill a main base. The nukes do next to no damage to main buildings. In multiplayer, yes, the game plays almost entirely differently than the campaign. Some skilled players are extremely good at balancing their attention between all the different win mechanics. There are some insanely good multiplayer matches available to watch. But a game's score shouldn't just reflect on a single aspect of a game. So yes, gamers, you can be passionate about the game... but the game is hardly worth 9/10. It's probably a 4/10... or a 6/10 AT BEST.
