The QB show is finally here! Adam's been talking about this show for about a month now. A lot of time, research & debate went into this show. Adam breaks down his excitement & concerns with Dylan Raiola, Heinrich Haarberg & Daniel Kaelin. It's a very talented QB room, that doesn't have a lot of experience. What exactly is Dylan Raiola's ceiling for this season, also, what is his floor? New Co-Offensive Coordinator & QB's coach, Glenn Thomas, will have a big impact this season! Lastly, should Matt Rhule bring in a Transfer Portal QB for the Huskers yet this off-season? Let's light this candle!

We just need a QB to take care of the ball, make smart decisions & run the offense next season. Is true freshman, Dylan Raiola, that guy? CarrikerChronicles.com

I'm with you, the job needs to be earned. There needs to be respect for the other QBs. I believe that HH deserves the first snap, at least when practice starts ... from then on, the competition is on. I believe it's too risky to put all your eggs in one basket and I don't believe it's healthy for any one of them in the beginning!

However, we are talking about the Head Coach that went all in on Jeff Sims, and the answer to the QB question last year. I for one am skeptical that Matt Rhule can be trusted to make a decent decision on the QB, as Jeff Sims failed to perform. However, with the new QB coach, I hope to see some development in the QB room. I would not put the freshman under center. Didn't Adrian Martinez start out as a true freshman? In answer to your last question, I believe THE NEW PURDUE OF THE BIG TEN(TNP, and AKA, the HUSKERS), should find a good one year QB, that has some experience. Since Matt Rhule pissed away some fine candidates in favor of DR, at the beginning of the transfer portal period, TNP is stuck with three QBs. Haarberg has the most upside, I would slot DR into third position. I just have a feeling that DR, even though he is a top star out of High School. He hasn't faced a college level team defense. Unless his Uncle can make sure his nephew will not get injured, by his weak offensive line, I would not start him. However, I suspect another lackluster season for TNP. Then again, after last season I gave up on cheering for TNP. If you must call me a "fair weather fan", do so. I graduated from UNL in 1989. I wasn't a fan of the team then, but I enjoyed watching the games. After serving in the Navy, I took an interest in the team, and became a fan. I lived through the Frank Solich/Jamal Lord era. I lived through the Bill Calahan era. I lived through the Bo Pelini era, and besides his inability as a head coach to keep the score between WISCONSIN and OHIO STATE, within a few scores every year, I was happy with a 9-3 record. Yet, he couldn't break out of that. I would have loved to see, a 10-2, or a 11-1 record. Yet, Bo, kept hiring his friends and admitted to the fact that he couldn't fix the problem of his players not executing. Rewatch Bo's postgame press conferences. Then came Mike Riley. The only season he did well in was the middle season, where the punter was killed in a car accident prior to the season starting and the team dedicated that season to him. They went 9-3 that year, but lost steam in the late season. Then they just didn't care the following season. Seemed all they wanted to do was play touch football. Then they hired Frosty. We all thought that Frosty would be TO 2.0. Return the team to something to cheer about. What did we get? Four years of pathetic play from the football team. I am still hoping that TNP will once again turn into the HUSKERS, but the team has a legacy of losing. I just do not see that changing anytime soon.

Rhule had to add a qb in the portal and had little time to do it. Half his qbs were hurt and out for spring and there wasn’t a long list of qbs available. Using that to detract from him is stupid

I put more blame on coaching for HH's problems last year than I do on him. Every quarterback suffered from identical problems last year, and there were no corrections. Let's see how HH does with a coach, and if DR is better, then take over as a starter. DR needs time, HH has experience. People need to relax with DR; too much hype will do more harm than good. If DK is as good as he tested at the Elite 11, this could be interesting to watch, maybe DK wins the job...

Dylan raiola is plenty mobile. He can run, and make plays when he has to. Also, bring 230 pounds and muscular, can take a bit. Raiola has thrived at every school he’s ever been at, he even did amazing for Buford. Do you know how much competition he saw in that conference? Meanwhile, kaelin struggled this year

No. He didn't have one accurate downfield pass over the course of an entire season. He hit a couple of those passes because the defense wasn't there, but he can't fit any throws into tight windows. As always you make good points, ask good questions, and make me think... I have no problem with who starts and feel confident that this group of coaches will choose well. The results should be fun & interesting regardless. I'm stoked about all 3 QB's potential. -- Dylan starting over Heinrich? Not a problem for me, but I'm a huge fan of HH! He's a heart & soul competitor who leaves nothing on the table. -- Daniel may surprise us all & it may come down to which QB gets enough time to actually make it through his passing progressions, a calm under fire thing, or one that can hit an open hole for a # of yards. -- If HH can get his mechanics worked out & gets the time to pass...he runs great. -- Adding another QB from the portal seems like a necessity. Injuries have been a plague for Nebraska far too often. May the force be with these young men.

IMO There’s almost no way we go looking for a transfer QB. 1) The way Raiola came seemed like he was looking for a cold QB room with great odds of starting. That was no doubt implied in the talks that brought him here. 2) Matt Rhule is not a transfer portal-first guy anyway when he can help it. 3) We’ve probably already $pent plenty on the QB room. It would take a VERY unique situation to present itself to Rhule for that to happen. He’s not going to chase it.

Daniel and Dylan can sharpen eachother given their play styles, however Dylan has traits that cant be taught. Both can become much better though. Best case scenario is Dylan lives up to it, Daniel can get a decent NIL deal secured to start somewhere in the next few years and Haarberg has enough on tape to catch on with an NFL contract whether drafted or free agent

Dillon is the best throwing QB1 on the team. Dillon is a hard worker and Dom’s son. He is a legacy player who has been groomed for this from a young age. HH is a solid second QB1 and can run people over when he is healthy. DK is the second best passer but can he read a defense like either of those other two guys? We’ll see. If Dillon has growing pains and HH takes over, so be it. Just put in the effort and good things will happen. Dillon will find Dom’s boot in his hind parts if Uncle Donny reports he’s been a slacker. I think Dillon will earn his job and do well with the talent around him. Win 7-0 and play Ohio State tough. That’s my prediction/hope/dream for 2024! We’ll see…

Nobody can throw that ball as far as Dillon. That’s a fact. Also, he can throw with his left arm as well. For a true freshman, that’s pretty darn impressive. Those are pro level skills on a kid who should be at the Senior Prom. Daniel is no slouch either. I still like a legacy kid over the guy who played in Nebraska wanting to be a Husker his whole life. Daniel had it as a choice and played in hs league teams with other kids who are top contenders for Division 1 recruitment, and shined. Just sayin… it’s another level. I love all 3 of these guys. It’s way better than just having Adrian running for his life every play. That’s why his freshman year was his best season at Nebraska, because after that O-line graduate Adrian was not protected well enough to be successful. If your uncle is the line coach, you can bet your boots Dillon will be protected or those boys will be throwing up daily running stadiums steps!

He’s leading by example and the team is now behind him. Haarberg isn’t going anywhere because he needs to be number two so kaelin can redshirt Raiola is the real deal. He’s not your typical true frosh. He’s been trained and groomed for this position for ten years. He's all we got so doesn't matter. What's the percentage of true freshman in football history who has turned a dead blue blood program around? 😮

He isn't all we got. Daniel Kaelin is an awesome QB as well. Don't count him out.

He doesn't have to be great. Last season just having a QB who didn't fumble we would have likely won at least 8 games. Having a QB who didn't fumble and was at least an adequate enough passer to be a threat we probably would have won at least 9 games.

I don’t think Dylan will do well. I don’t see Nebraska being successful without a true mobile qb
