This came as an afterthought, so I didn't include it in the video. But the one thing I didn't like about the movie (or wish they did better with) was how rushed the romance was. Because one moment, Kim is embarrassed by Edward, and then the next she starts caring for him. I feel like there should've been more small moments between them leading up to the TV interview. But considering this is a movie about a man with scissors for hands, the rushed romance really isn't the most unbelievable thing in this movie HAHA Anyways, Peg is the BEST character and Joyce can choke

Absolutely not even a scene would be necessary just little details in the multiple scenes they share is it confrontational do you want your mother's love and I get it you don't or do you want to rebel and I'm the one always slipping you cherries under the table I don't know how the turkey explodedI don't know if you already did labyrinth but I'll look it up my only complaint for you was this movie was my childhood you should have torn it apart a lot harder.

The thing is this movie has a surreal aura to it. It's like a fairytale that has a sort of realistic filter to it. It makes sense in some aspects but also not at the same time. Where did the ice blocks come from, why did the bank only say "bank" how did he create the bush figures so fast? Thats basically cause a good portion of the movie is through Edwards perspective.

16:04 The inventor was played by Vincent Price. He was a horror movie legend in the 1950s and 1960s especially. In addition to his character dying in this movie, this was also his last theatrical release during his life. He died in 1993 at age 82.

It’s amazing how, the more times you watch this movie, the more profound it’s message actually becomes: an unfinished, dark castle of a human being venturing out into society, trying his best to conform, even falling in love, but at the end of the day, that dark castle is always part of him. And what a reminder to young people too: If Edward didn’t return to that dark castle, we’d never have snow. No matter how unfinished you think you are, you have your own gifts and those gifts still have an impact on others around you.

The acting legend Vincent Price makes his screen swan song with this film. He was a life long smoker and suffered from emphysema and Parkinson’s disease. Because he was very sick, his role was greatly reduced to accommodate Price. But Tim Burton and Vincent Price were very close and stay that way until Price’s death in 1993.

Boy that baby-chick plushy gets a real workout when you watch vids, huh? Edward strikes me as a litmus test for this community. He's lonely, socially underdeveloped and physically incapable of normal intimacy...had he only met Kim Boggs and not anyone else in the community, he very well may have had a normal "childhood" with a woman who looked out for him and cared about his well-being. But he gets all kinds of nuanced social conundrums thrown at him all at once...interacting with strangers, forming relationships with people his own age, peer pressure, romance, bigotry, forceful isolation, physical assault, emotional upheaval. It's a wonder he didn't self-destruct. But HE didn't fail. This suburban community attempted to force their lifestyle, social-strata, behavioral norms and class system on him, because hey, this is "how it has always been". And rather than foster his development and nurture his unique characteristics, they both exploit and shun him because of how he looks and acts. His father gave him life but very little guidance. He created something more or less 'innocent', at least at first. Was Edward without sin? No, he wants, he desires, he longs for...he clearly finds something about this community attractive. No one with ambition or want of something more is without at least some sun. But it was not his job to change THESE people to suit his needs, unlike the people in this little neighborhood who attempted to change and control and use HIM. These people had a chance to teach, protect and love Edward. Instead, they ogled, abused and rejected him. Modern, enlightened society or not, they failed him. And maybe that's for the best. The last thing we need is for people like Joyce and Jim to multiply. -_-
@SophiaPhannn
@SophiaPhannn 3 жыл бұрын
!!!! LOVE this comment! Peg was the best character imo because she truly believed in him. Everyone in their community looked at him like a shiny new toy that they threw away because they could no longer use him
@JH-cs5py
@JH-cs5py 3 жыл бұрын
@@SophiaPhannn I just realized I wrote Kim instead of Peg at the beginning of my comment, thank you for clarifying that. Kim's relationship with Edward was probably doomed from the start, but the sweet, non-sexual, almost childlike attraction between them is at least relatable. But Peg assumed a motherly roll almost out of the gate. It may have been curiosity at the beginning, but she saw a human first, not a 'toy' or a freak. We should all be so lucky to have at least one person in our lives that actually makes a point of looking out for us.

As an artsy person gowing up I've identified with this film so much. I barely was able to indulge in certain media because I grew up a jehovahs witness and was allso forced by my father not to associate with other kids. He stalked me in elementry and high school to make sure I wasn't. One time he beat me so bad because he thought I was talking to a girl In high school. Kids thought I was mentally challenged because to them I was non social so they called me names or they did things like throw basket balls, or dodge balls at my head at full force. It gave me a concussion. At one point this girl, a really nice one at that was interested in me and She even went out of her way to find out why we couldn't have a relationship. When I told her she told the advisory teachers. They sat me down and asked if they should call child services but.....I wouldn't let them. All I wanted to do was have a interaction with some one. I remember wanting to make friends so bad, wanting to talk to that one pretty girl in class so bad. The jehovahs witness organization was my scissorhands. I couldn't come close to anything.

I saw this movie for the first time when I was really young (five or six, maybe), but by then, I had already been scarred for life by Chuckie the Doll. Watching Edward Scissorhands was a breath of fresh air. XD I like what I can remember from it.

For 10 years I've thought about this. Long and hard. Yes, if I ever got the chance, I definitely would like to live forever.

i love the movie more than anything, and edward is actually based off a dog and the movie is meant to be seen from edwards perspective so someone (i don't remember was it the one who did the script) had a dog that couldn't really talk but the dog was obviously wanting to show all the emotion, so Johnny took this as an idea and didn't speak much but he still showed the emotion with his facial expressions and also he curled his back and looked down when he was embarrassed/sad/feeling down/knew he did something wrong, and then he raises his eyebrows (that aren't there but you know what i mean) and smiles when he's happy and also the neighbourhood is ainted in these pink, yellow, green, blue all these pastel colours, but in reality they are just plain houses but because edward had been living in that old tower for an unknown amount of time, to see actual human smiles and faces and this neighbourhood was like this amazing thing for him and the bank is this old white boring and dark looking place, that was also how edward saw it because he knew if he wanted to live with his friends he needed to get all this stuff he had no idea about and it was just without any imagination and also when he looks around when he goes down there for the first time he smiles and like you can see the difference he sees but yeah definitely 100% favourite movie of all time and also the one movie that makes me cry every single time i watch it and also im just gonna clear some things up for ya 1: how has he been eating? as we see in a cutscene of the movie, edward has really no stomach, its just a big big like metal thing so i don't think he needs to eat since he's a creation and he doesn't even have a thing that could melt the food in him, also his suit is skintight and its a bodysuit so i think the creator would have made him seperate pants and a jacket so he could go to the bathroom if he would need to 2: why did the inventor put scissors on his hands? again, cutscene so when the inventor was done with edwards body, he had no time to make his hands because he needed to put him together and he had a very short amount of time to live, so he just got some scissors he had laying around and made quick hands that would work, then a few days before christmas the inventor knew he was gonna die, thats why he wanted to give edward his hands early but right in the middle of giving the hands to him he got a heart attack and since edward didn't know anything about death he thought his dad was just sleeping. thats the line of "he never woke up" so he never got his hands in time, just a few seconds more and he would have gotten actual hands also when he started making edward he KNEW it was gonna be his last invention, he didn't think he'd get to make edward alive but he did, thats why he put scissors as his hands, he also tried to rush the building so he would be able to make edward but the hands never got to be done before the end

I blame this film for making me fall for goth boys during my teenage years. I befriended so many but never dated one because they weren't as pure & sweet as edward.
