Just been on the tesla train yesterday, while a 970km roadtrip to giga Berlin. Walked from giga to trainstation Erkner (about 8km) and got back in electric train, not spending a cent, cause tesla pays the train. (Also paying the electricity at the wallbox, where my m3 was charging.) Btw: thanks for that explanation of the Elon payoff.

I'm aware of a Ford dealership that bought someone's Cybertruck for about $120k (netting some profit for the original owner), with the dealer then selling the truck of their lot for $130k or $140k, I don't recall which. Quite possible it is a similar situation for the one mentioned in the vid.

A couple of years ago you guys reviewed Mean Green electric zero turn mowers. I got a 61" mulching mower then and with all the rain this spring the grass got ahead of me. Last Sunday I finally got to it and it took me 4.5 hours to cut my yard, ( 5 acres). I got the battery down to almost half its charge, 54%. The mower can definitely mow longer than I can ride it. Simply Amazing.

More R&D spend as % of revenue appears at first glance as a good scorecard number. But as you point out with examples like Hyundai. The productivity of R&D is more important. Hard to measure, but would be a great to improve scorecard in this area.

Wow! This is interesting. I just received an email from Tesla, letting me know that my Cybertruck reservation is ready! Crazy, because my unscientific calculations put me at around 750k on the reservation list. I put my reservation in after I heard that they had over 700k. So, as an investor, I’m concerned that I got an email from Tesla. I figured it would be late 2027 that my Cybertruck reservation would become available. Thoughts? Oh, also, until the range gets close to 500 and the cost comes down, it will be a hard pass for me.

That's an invitation to buy the foundation series which comes with extras and a much higher price tag. They are working their way through the entire list offering the foundation series for those willing to pay the extra amount. Once they exhaust the list, they will go back and start offering the non-foundation series to those who were not willing to pay that extra amount. I'm at about 153,000 in the list and received my offer to buy a foundation series about a month ago. But I'm willing to wait until they offer me the non-foundation series because that means I'll get the $7,500 tax credit (if Trump loses, if he wins I'm guessing he'll get rid of the EV tax credit) which will be $79,990 for the dual motor, minus the federal tax credit = $72,500, minus the $5,000 Colorado tax credit means I'll pay about $67,500. So, you'll get another offer to buy, but it'll be a long time, you might be right about 2027, but I'm guessing enough people will cancel or reject their offer so you might get your second offer in 2026 + or -.

When looking at the"subsidies" for EVs, nobody is looking at the trillions of dollars used to subsidize oil and gas production, directly along with the externalities (cost of deaths, healthcare, climate change, military commitments to "protect" oil and gas subsidies and tax subsidies which allow oil companies to pay about half the nominal tax rate) which are at least 11-12 times greater than their explicit subsidies.

To me the arguments are pretty solid as I read them on electrek and outline just how tesla board is in musk's pocket and not doing their job (see robyn Deinholm, lol) .
