My brother, I'll just say this about Thena: It's meant to be a portrayal of how debilitating and hopeless mental illness can be. She wasn't ever going to "snap out" of her fit to save Gilgamesh...because even the most powerful mind can be rendered helpless when it's afflicted by something out of one's control. It shows how a lot of people who suffer from these types of things have some sort of comfort or central idea to cling to that helps them cope, like Gilgamesh repeating the words "remember" and "stay". Having those words repeated to her by the Deviant is what allows her to regain her clarity.

I really love this movie. Each MCU movie has brought its own genre and style (Cap - Political Thrillers, Ant Man - Heist capers, Doctor Strange - Cosmic horror). The Eternals feels like a sweeping historical drama on a cosmic scale for a more mature audience than previous films. It doesn't necessarily appeal to simpler/younger audiences with some of its philosophical themes and subtle, emotional depth and development. I absolutely enjoyed this change of pace and applaud Marvel for fleshing out more in their spectrum of genres and styles. It keeps the MCU from getting stale. It doesn't all need to be the same.

I really liked ETERNALS, it was almost not a superhero film but about Gods and their creators. The cinematography, score, etc was on WB level of production in terms of quality - like recent films Dune, The Suicide Squad, Doctor Sleep, and of course DC films akin to Man of Steel, ZSJL, etc - but the pacing was a bit off between characters and their motivations, and lacked some character development but they do have a really good foundation and bunch of characters for a sequel, so I welcome ETERNALS 2. This is a film that felt more matured, focused on plot instead of packing in action, Gods essentially trying to be more human in their justification as to stop Tiamut, like the Gods of Olympus trying to stop Cronus from destroying Earth. Zhao' direction was great for this kind of MCU film; but 500 critics give it 48% compared to 10000+ viewers whom gave it 78% on RT, fan and viewer reactions matter more, they always have. A bad review hardly stops me from seeing a film.

Lauren Ridloff the actress who plays Makkari (the speedster) has said that Makkari is faster than the Flash. DC fans denied this because Flash can run so fast that he can enter another universe what Makkari can’t do (if I remember corretly) but they always forget that MCU and DC are in different uniververse or multiverse so they have their own laws. So if we put Makkari in DC she could warp universes too. Conclusion: in my opinion Makkari is faster.

The village people weren't mind controlled the whole time, only when he needs them to fight or deal with people. Mahd Wyry (Mad weary, prob spelled it wrong) isn't a phase, it just happens and stays. The Marvel Comics Hierarchy: At the top level there are the Abstracts. Concepts like Fate, Eternity & Death... which are actual high level characters that only show up in the comics when there a major crossover or storyline Below them, are The Celestials. The first beings that create and guide, and destroy, within the universe according to their grand plan. Below those are the Elders of the Universe. Beings like The Collector, from Knowhere in Guardians Of The Galaxy, The Grandmaster, from Thor: Ragnarok, Odin, and others like them, who are all Cosmic level beings, but on the lower end of that scale. There is great variance within this catagory, and you can see very different power levels that are considered Elders. Ego, The Living Planet, from Guardians of the Galaxy 2, was an Elder... he liked to claim he was a Celestial, but he had delusions of grandeur. Then, we have all the rest of the heroes from the comics, who fall into the Sub-Cosmic catagory.

I was saying though, that for 'Cosmic' level beings, the Elders are lesser than Celestials and Abstracts. **Edit - I see what you are saying. I just usually lump all 'Elder' characters together in a 'Cosmic' hodgepodge. Yeah, as you said many Elders have lost to the likes of Thor or Hercules. I do find that depending on who is writing each decade, that power scales seem to fluctuate. Like one week in a DC comic, Superman is saving the planet from a giant alien invasion, and the next he is being knocked out by a guy with a magic yo-yo, lol.

I'm not really invested in the character and unlike the girls I saw this with, Harry Styles does nothing for me. On the plus side, both Ajak and Gilgamesh can be resurrected at the World Forge should future stories call for it. The voice of the main Deviant, was the same actor of Pennywise in the recent IT movies Bill Skarsgard.

I've watched this movie a few times now and I'm still not sure how I feel about it. I didn't get to care enough for the characters so the development didn't have an impact on me. I know they lived and love each other for years but I just didn't feel it in their acting, idk. It's not a bad movie but it's not my favorite from the mcu.

I feel the same I cared much more for the supporting/side Eternals or Characters (like Makkari, Ajak and even Kingo and his human companion Karun) than the main Eternals (Ikaris, Sersi, Sprite, Jon Snow, Thena and Gilgamesh)

The irony of people saying some of the Eternals acting was stilted and robotic... they ARE robots though. I dunno, maybe growing up with Star Trek: The Next Generation's Data who was both an emotionless robot yet evoking of sympathy prepared me for connecting with the characters here.

@@bustedsim you can be an emotionless robot and still evoke sympathy, it just didn't happen to me with this characters

Gilgamesh is the physically strongest eternal. The strongest eternal Zuras who is basically their Odin/Zeus was left out for some strange reason. Sersi is also a lot stronger in comics as is most of the others actually.
@TheCell1112 жыл бұрын
Well if you add other eternals not part of the earth eternals team then thanos and certain verison of hyperion are the strongest eternals.
@TheCell1112 жыл бұрын
Zuras (Earth-616) Physical Strength Zuras' physical strength was greater than that of any other known Eternal except for the Forgotten One, Ikaris, Interloper, and Thanos. Zuras could lift (press) 30 tons without also employing his psionic power to levitate the object he was lifting.

Let's keep in mind the mcu is different from the canon marvel 616 comics.They made captain marvel in the mcu stronger then mcu thor and in the comics thor is stronger then captain marvel and in the cartoons as well.
@TheCell1112 жыл бұрын
Note-Forgotten One is Gilgamesh, but yes mcu Gilgamesh is stronger then mcu Ikaris.

Idk what it is about this movie but I just wasn't impressed it's not a bad movie but it's not good either in my opinion it's just okay idk I feel like something was missing after watching it didn't make me feel excited about what's coming next Edit: I saw a comment that said it would've been better as a series and I agree cuz it did feel a bit rushed and it needs more character development

My gal and I both liked Eternals quite a bit. It’s not always funny, it’s trying to be highbrow, and the love stories don’t feel real so to speak, but I thought it was, well, kind of awesome. Suspension of disbelief was involved for sure but it’s the MCU. what do you want ?
@Polarisstressed2 жыл бұрын
Yeah. I end up mixing variants from deviants too. You're not alone my guy haha

Thanos is actually an Eternal with a deviant gene, since Eros is his brother

If feel like there is no “bad guy”. Ikaris sacrifice 1 planet to make a galaxy. Rest of eternals save what’s made, the deviant revenge for its species

I honestly think he was only intervening if there was gonna be a physical conflict other than that, he's been protecting them like he said I think he was just so tired of war and fights, that he lived with that village in peace He was a bit of a villain in the comics but in the MCU, I just see his character as someone who's deeply tired of watching humans fight

Most people did like this movie actually! It was just the movie critics who had something to say, which I honestly don't care about the opinions of lmao loved your reaction! I disagree with you on the Thena bit though, i like that they didn't make her break free in that moment just like mental illness, something you can't just break out of. I really love this movie and i loved all the characters i'm super excited to see more of them in the marvel universe
