I have seen atleast 60 videos on Eurail pass. None so comprehensive and holistic that you have shared. Almost flawless and covering major questions for all first timers. Only one mistake you did is that Eurail pass do cover Glacier express. Used it myself

@@littlelingua5293 Thank you for clarifying this. You’re totally right, our bad. We just looked into it and you CAN use Eurail for the Glacier Express. Here is the link with the info: www.eurail.com/en/get-inspired/trains-europe/scenic-train-routes/glacier-express We just sampled the booking process and it looks like to book the entire Glacier Express journey from St Moritz to Zermatt with Eurail cost CHF 39 for the reservation on the most basic journey, which saves a ton of money compared to the CHF 191 cost of the ticket without Eurail

My wife and I, many years ago, took advantage of the Boat portion of the Eurail pass. In Germany, we took the train to Koblenz and then boarded a river boat that accepted the Pass. It was basically a Hop on Hop Off boat on the Rhine. Great way to see the Castles.

Rule #1: Avoid reservation as much as you can. Short trip: Buy out-of-pocket. Medium trip: Best for the pass. Long trip: Good luck with either long travel time or the reservation. Thanks for the detailed video, it helps a lot!

Thanks much! Sounds like Eurail today is more trouble than when I blitzed Europe with a three-month pass in 1978. All I had to do was board the train, often at the last minute, and flash the plastic pass to the conductor. A few fast trains (i.e. Paris to Amsterdam) required a reservation, but traveling off-season I found the conductors didn't insist on them.

Great information thanks Nina. I just booked a Glacier Express Ticket with my Eurail Pass on there website and I only had to pay for seat reservation, This may be new this year. We purchased the 15 day 2 mts pass and I been doing a lot of research. My husband and I are the senior category and I feel that this will be are best way to see all the countries we picked out. I am rethinking Paris because of the time of year we would be there. Maybe Austria would be way better. I am not sure you were at the Nord/eastern border of Italy at all there is a wonderful trip in to Austria from there we may take. Thanks for all your hard work! I grew up in Switzerland and we live in Florida so this will be our senior trekking trip.

So fun! Recommendations totally depend on what you enjoy. Nina and I love nature and getting away from the cities so the Dolomites (Slovenia, Italy, and Switzerland) were our absolute favorites. You really can’t go wrong with Italy, they have just about everything to offer: history, cities, food, beaches, mountains, etc!!

We went in the low season Sept-October which comes with its pros/cons. Less crowds but lots of things are closed

Great video! Soon I'll be taking my mom to Paris, Brussels and then Zurich, from there we're planning to visit as many places in Switzerland as possible. Although Switzerland has a LOT of different passes and options to use inside the country, at least according to the info that I found at the Eurail site, all the places we're planning to go to (except final routes in the Alps, like jungfrau) are covered by the pass. So, getting a global 2nd class 10 days pass seems like our best possible option! Just like you, I'm a maniac in terms of planning trips, so I'll give a couple more days and calculations/comparisons of the routes before aquiring the pass (It is considerable expensive getting it from Brazil). Anyways, thanks a lot for the video, really usefull content!!!

Grate video grate tips, I've done Interrail twice first time had a 15 day continuous pass it was july fabulous weather i only neaded one Reservation that was Bordeaux to Nice 9hrs on the train we stocked up on provisions i only bought one Can of ice cold Coke the real thing full sugger! worth ever cent! i had to Calm a hiterical franch lady down who thought she had missed her stop i asked her to show me her Reservation and pointed out the time and she was happy and the train was quiet again 😊

I’ve watched numerous videos and this has been by far the best. Thank you! 🙏 I’m wondering if I can use the planning part of the app to save an itinerary without actually purchasing the pass yet? I still haven’t completed figured out when and where I want to travel, just know it will be somewhere in Europe. Also, was hoping you would touch on the train cars. I was in Italy last year and was so confused by which car I had to board. Some how ended up in business class my mistake and was kicked out after about 30 mins. Was nice while it lasted. 😂

Yes, you can create a trip and save journeys in the app even before connecting/purchasing a eurail pass The best method we found for cars is looking for signs or numbers on the doors before you enter that say 1 or 2 in reference to 1st or 2nd class. Usually 2nd class has a number 2 on the door. Also 1st class is usually significantly nicer (big seats, private cabins, etc) and you can tell the difference if you accidentally walk into the wrong car.
