I have 100%+dlc in Fallout 3 and New Vegas on both Ps3 and 360. You have many mods on the PC version. The Xbox versions are a treat cause they are backwards compatible and have been updated for Series S/X to be a locked 60fps and have 1 second loading screens. While New Vegas is overall my favorite one, I do love 3 and started with it. The story, quests, world, builds, and weapons still hold up today. You don't see many games like it either. It is easily the darkest and most depressing Fallout game.

I remember playing this as my first Fallout game back in the day and it was really addicting. I had no idea about the poor quality writing because the atmosphere and world of Washington D.C completely pulled me in. It's not the best looking game or the smoothest but it has a certain jank to it that few games today can replicate. Good memories. Whilst nothing holds a candle on New Vegas....this is the one to start with in my opinion.

My favourite game. Sure the characters are a bit less fleshed out than New Vegas. But man the atmosphere is something unmatched for me in video games. Haunting lonliness disturbed by a rad scorpion or a settlement. Keep it uo my guy. Strong video.

It took me 3 times to fully get into Fallout 3. My first time had me too anxious to explore so I stayed in Megaton and didn't really do anything. Second time, I braved the wastes to find Arefu and do some of Moira's quests but didn't dare to go further. Third time was the charm and I fell in love with the series just in time for New Vegas' early screenshots and reveals. Promptly played it day one. So even though 3 is my least favorite, I owe it a lot.

i started playing the franchise at 3, and you sir perfectly conveyed my feelings about the game. these days i play Fallout New Vegas more, modded with among other things in my loadout A Tale of Two Wastelands, which allows me to be both Courier 6 and The Lone Wanderer in a single game, with everything in my loadout, my game is as big as Skyrim and could still grow to be bigger. XD i encourage you and everyone else who wants to enjoy Fallout to get it on PC and enjoy it with mods, get the GoG version of any game for $20 or less when there's a sale. i can guarantee you that it will keep you occupied until the next major Fallout release, if it ever comes that is.

I played through FO3 2 times one play as a goodie 2 shoes sort of mostly good guy playthrough(stealing is a necessary evil in FO3) and the 2nd as a Chinese agent intent on as much chaos and destruction as possible double crosses at every opportunity I've noticed less choice for this in some of the dlc quests sadly and not being able to keep the point lookout scar was a letdown but all in all a fun playthrough and the wasteland plight finally won over my evil character in the end and yada yada yada.

I adore everything about fallout 3 except 1 thing. Super mutants are weak and not menacing like in the OG fallout games or even compared to NV. Death claws are still horrifying especially in old Olney. I wish mutants were just as menacing as they’re supposed to be from the lore.

This game's brutality was always fun. Bashing an NPC's or ghoul's head with a super sledgehammer into pieces was hilarious. I remember I used to use tcl command and have my character sit on top of what looked like a very tall water tower and I would launch missles at the residents of megaton. of course I would start with Confessor Cromwell because he was always annoying. It would make me laugh just watching everyone panic and run around like ants.

Got a sub from me. I played NV first, but it drew me into the universe so completely that I actively sought out a copy of 3, and I never looked back. One of my all-time favorite games. And I only just finally "beat" it last month, by finally completing the last DLC I had left, The Pitt. I wish I could play it for the first time all over again.

Fallout3 including it's DLCs: An almost perfect bundle. Except Zeta. That addon is just a never ending boredom because levels which look all the same all the time and the enemies are even insanely strong for a character level 30+ (with addons/console commands to level up past level 30).

It was the 19th century fallout 4 was released on the xboat sail craft it looked fluffy inviting calming. The characters are scary mean and unfinished. The gun play was bulky and clunky like fallout 3s buildings

Never has getting so swept up in the side quests that you forget about the main story been so apt. Your view of the colour pallet is spot on; as an introduction to the franchise for many, a cheerier colour scheme wouldn't set the tone properly. What I struggle to overlook is the excessive reuse of items (desks, lockers etc) that furnish every location and lend to a 'copy+paste' impression and sometimes make it difficult to navigate. Yes. I only own an Xbox for the purposes of playing the fallout series. I'm currently finishing my 2nd playthrough this year(8th time altogether). I'm playing New Vegas again next. I will almost certainly play fallout 3 again this year. I hope to finally play a negative karma/evil playthrough for the first time

Did not played it but for me looks good and if you can engage in city combat with many buildings I take it any time. I new vegas is not as much city areas. I like to play with varmint riffle and explosives, make traps and such. It looks like in fo 3 is more of it.

Just subbed! Also I remember when fallout 3 came out I got it that christmas and was in highschool. I wasn’t really into rpgs at the time and found the game and color pallet so depressing. I didn’t give it more than a couple hours. Skip forward to 2011 midnight release of skyrim and I go with a buddy so he can pick up his copy. Watchin him play that night was incredible. I left early in the morning to go pick up my own copy and play. I’ve been in love with bethesda rpgs ever since and have love and appreciation for fallout 3

Most people praising the game do it due to nostalgia. The gameplay has definitely not aged well and there basically no builds since the perks are either bad or good and dont offer diversity. The story and atmosphere is great but if you have played it before, there are better ways to spend your time.
