There are two families though and they often get lumped together. There's your family of origin which you are born into and can't choose or change and can be everything for some people or they can be a source of great turmoil and stress. Then there's your family of creation with which you generally get to choose your mate and create your own version of family which for many is their greatest source of joy and strength.

I've been a backbone for my mom, 3 kids, since I graduated from high school. Later added my 2 sisters. I took care of them too over a decade. And after that, my older brother suddenly showed up again (after "disappeared" for almost a decade when he was success), and my mom "forced" me to help him. And he became my "additional" burden for almost a decade too. Practically, I must feed 8 humans (including myself). And AAAALL live in my rented house. And finally I was fed up and couldn't stand anymore. I was broke as hell. I got no savings at all. So, I let my brother go. My sisters too. Didn't care anymore. And my 2 kids already graduated from high school too. So they move to another city to work. It's left my mom that now I'm still taking care of. And only 1 one of my sister is helping me. And lately, the last half year, my 2 daughters whom work in another city, without I know what mistake I made, they just suddenly never call me or even call me back. Which is they were pretty close to me before. One of my daughter even didn't say any single thank you after I sent her a birthday present. I chat, I DM, none reply I got. Btw, I'm 47 y.o woman. Jobless, broke, heart-broken, and been battling generalized anxiety disorder (GAD) since 2016. So... I don"t know what "family" means to me anymore.

I'm really sorry to hear that you've been asked/ made to take responsibility for everyone in your family I really do hope you can find a way to let those emotions out because you deserve peace and to heal and still have so many amazing years ahead of you. I would suggest identifying what you want in your life moving forward in all areas including relationships with your family others and yourself. Life is not over you have experience in the things you don't want know is finding out how to get the experience in the things you do want. Its not any easy journey but you can grow and change things to fit your wants especially your needs. And somethings may not show up how you want it to but it still maybe just what you needed. May God give you peace, love and strength to keep loving yourself and discovering your purpose on your journey ❣❣❣

Hey I know I'm just a stranger passing by... I just wanna say i can see how hard it has been for you, and people around you feeding off of you can be real toxic and sending them off was the right thing you did and that you shouldn't be sorry about it and you can always start afresh anytime anywhere. And like the saying goes age is just a number, there's still so much more you'll be capable of doing from here on for yourself. Don't give up :)

I think you are strong and have a strong character and philosophy that allows you to be an equal with your wife. You had a plan for your child and you educated him to be self sufficient and strong. You are not the average man. You have an inner peace as well as strength and strong character. Most relationships are burdened with jealousy and strife bc there is not a strong enough person to guide things to be successful. I understand this bc I was not strong enough to guide my own marriage to make it successful. I am strong in many ways, but not in some. I did help raise an awesome child and together my child and I share and learn. My child is a good person and citizen and works to earn money. She helps and cares about others. We both continue to learn and share. I was not strong enough to guide the relationship with her mom and it failed, but I have a relationship with my daughter and we work together to learn, share and grow together. It is something very special and a chance to help a new person succeed in learning to understand herself and the world. My daughter helps me in the same way to learn and grow 😀. If a romantic relationship fails, all is not lost. If there is a child, you have a new chance to help your child to learn. You can learn with your child. Build trust in that relationship and enjoy the results.

Without something to love outside of yourself life offers no meaningful reward. That something can be family, god, it can even be a pet dog, but providing for someone or something gives a real psychological reward. If you wonder how that would apply to God it's because sacrifice in the name of God is the same as providing in this regard, it's selfless effort for another's gain or survival be it providing or sacrifice

Yeah yeah people have their own ways. People also have a lot of pain and suffering in their lives. They will fight for their ways all the time not seeing that it’s their ways that are creating the life of pain and suffering. So yeah let them defend and fight for their way but the truth won’t go away and living in untruth is the sin and the punishment is the suffering and pain. Just my opinion do what you want 🤨 but the animal is broken when it becomes a pet I agree with you. But what about farm animals for food and labor I don’t know maybe it should all be hunting I really don’t know.

Reasons why family can be a burden: 1. I think we need a licence to breed as humans and prosecute rapists fairly because there's tons of unwanted pregnancy and selfish parents who weren't ready and never used contraceptives. 2. Kids need to be allowed to sue their parents for abusing their kids in any form. (From mental, physical). The law needs to take sides on children, not filial piety non-sense. 3. Heterosexual couples should be ok with swapping on taking contraceptives - if the guy is so worried about getting a baby for the rest of his life, then vasectomy instead of destroying a woman's body in taking pills. Hey just to be fair women play a huge part in being submissive too. Dumbing themselves down for being with a toxic guy, are you kidding me?
