I think people underestimate the time it can take to build trust. You really do have to be consistent and structured. I’ve learned so much from bird tricks

Chelsea is probably nervous not wanting to make mistakes, and actually performing the steps and becoming comfortable takes time. Personally Jamie, you are the first person I've seen get a female Electus to do as much as Fennel has for you. Looking forward to part 2. Thank you!

Aww I’m glad she’s doing well I’m sorry I can’t be a patron anymore now I’m in supportive living because of my health and sad I had to rehome my Budgie girls . I surrendered Mochi and Greckles to the Parrot club I bought your toys and made your seed mix was getting them on tops pellets. I had my feather babies a glorious 6 months love them dearly. Thanks for all you do, you taught me everything I know I did a year of research using your vid’s bought the training package saved up for the biggest cage I could afford natural wood perched stainless steel water and food bowl and a nice carrier. ❤

You do such a great job working with these project birds. They all have such different personalities yet you find a way to communicate in a way that is comfortable for each of them. You are an amazing trainer and with some time together and training, Chelsea and Fennel will progress. Her daughter seems to have a real 6th sense in dealing with Fennel. She may be able help her mom read Fennel's body language in daily interractions. Thank you for posting these videos! They are so informative and have improved many birds' lives!

Energy plays a major role. I see this often with my dog clients. Over eager and nervous owners/handlers that pay so much attention to detail, they create a lot of stress. The stress in their body language translates to the animal. In these cases I focus of the basics. Easy, established tasks/behaviors done individually with repetition. This helps the owner practice a specific skill and build their own confidence thus showing the bird that they are stable and trustworthy.

Jamie, you were doing what is right for the bird in this case Fennel. That’s why you are given the care of birds like Fennel to train them and help them to be interacting with their humans so much better. You did it. Thank you. May you please take care and stay safe.

Jamie, you were tasked with a job because your client trusts your professional opinion. You need to trust your professional opinion. Communicate that opinion with your client while leaving the choice and control in their hands. “It’s your bird, you can, I don’t recommend for the following reasons”.

It takes work if they put in the time and ask you if they have questions fennel will bond with them as well. Its the same with dogs a person who knows how to work with dogs can make a bad dog look great because they know what they are doing and have put in the time and effort it takes to build that relationship. If they use the tools you taught them with time and practice they will see results.

I really hope seeing Fennel with Jaimie helps Fennel’s person change their attitude from “what is wrong with my bird” to “what am I doing wrong in my interactions and expectations.” She almost came across as resentful of Fennel. I’m glad she’s seeking help with their relationship.
@haleybushey42892 жыл бұрын
I agree with this. I think maybe surrendering Fennel to someone willing to understand her would be best. I see no communication or connection between Fennel and Chelsea. Plus looks like Chelsea has hacked the wings off her other birds and isn’t acknowledging what shes doing wrong.
@haleybushey42892 жыл бұрын
Plus I find it weird shes so terrified in the home with Chelsea, yet has no fear with Jamie? Im extremely skeptical of how shes treating that bird.

It sounds like too one day she just decided she wanted a bird and leapt almost straight into it with a female eclectus 😑 she’s talking at this point in time that she’s only been interested in parrots for one year!! That’s not nearly enough time to have enough experience to take on a baby bird or an ekky, let alone a combo of both and a female one at that! 🤦🏼♀️ irresponsible

hi everybody, I watched the videos of Fennel several times. I´m not an owner of birds and I don´t know a lot about birds. But when I saw Fennel, I had the impression that maybe she can't see or hear very well. Maybe that's why she reacts so slowly to everything
@nikkihoffman2891 Жыл бұрын
I think the bird is sad to be leaving Jamie’s home..I’m kinda nervous for the bird, too. Inexperienced owner, more complex bird. Not a good combo.

I see a huge diference in her! Sometimes there is nothing wrong with the bird, sometimes the wrong one is the owner. Not saying thats the case here, but its a possibility, she looks like a very body language based birb, and Chelsea was catching NON of it 🤣
@brigittefranz48892 жыл бұрын
But Chelsea can lern the body language of Fennel....
@PascaleLaurent8111 ай бұрын
There’s definitely , more often than not, something wrong with the handler rather than the bird. It’s usually due to misreading the body language or ignoring it which always leads to bites as the bird feels forced to do what it doesn’t want to do.
@kimtillman56832 жыл бұрын
How can it be expected that Chelsea would have a super bond with fennel after just 2 days for a couple hours when you have had fennel for over a month and training every day… maybe I’m just not understanding what your saying or what your expectations are for Chelsea and fennel … I know absolutely nothing about birds but I love watching the videos and pictures just think they are so beautiful,anyways love the videos, great job👏👏👏👏👏

I have a pineapple green cheek conure. Her hatch date was 6/15/2022. So she is just over a year old. I cannot get her to stop biting me. I ignore her and she continues. I have only had her for a couple of weeks. While there are some small victories, there is a lot of frustration. Where should I start?

I think Fennel started feeling insecure when seeing Chelsea again. I suppose, for Fennel the "Womach-Flock" was the new family. Sie did not expect going back to Chelsea. Because of that, sie was irritated.

There was a huge difference between the way she and her daughter handled Fennel. Daughter did great. It made me uncomfortable to watch Chelsea handle Fennel. Nothing at all against her, she seemed like such a nice person. I just think some people are bird people and some aren't.

“She acted like a wild animal” uhhh yeah because they are. Also her expectations where too high on the zoo trainer. No offense to the owner. Every bird is an individual. You can’t expect to get a bird and have it be the same as every other one you see. Seems like ekkie breed was a bird that does not click with her.. or maybe a male bird would have been better. That’s why it’s so important to really dig deep into each species and gender. I’m glad she’s open and willing to learn. That’s definitely the start to a good relationship with your bird. Again no hate or ill will to the owner. She’s obviously a great parrot parent and cares a lot. It’s also brave of her to participate in the video.

I'm sorry but she's just not into Fennel. I know that sounds harsh but after listening to her critique of how 'messy' Fennel was in her cage you can see the owner unfortunately has 'control' issues. Birds as sensitive as Fennel is know when someone loves them. This owner I don't think will ever love Fennel but will do right by her by feeding her and training her. Without the love in Fennels life I feel she will never thrive. I'd suggest you offer to take Fennel permanently.
@FukaiKokoro2 жыл бұрын
Agreed. I personally think that she should have considered a different type of bird. Because ekkies are slow paced and extra messy eaters. Maybe even a male ekkie would have been better. No hate to the owner. It’s definitely good she’s open to work on issues. Maybe she will work on her control issues too.
@Whateverhasbeenmynameforyears2 жыл бұрын
What you want in a animal you are going to train for work is not that same as an animal for a pet. You need a little faster paced learner because the goal is what you can do with them as opposed to a pet where the only goal is your relationship. I have had this conversation as a horse trainer. I will not train an animal that is dangerous enough to put me in the hospital. There is no shortage of horses that need help and my well being is worth more to me now that I am older. Yes any one is trainable given enough time but I am not putting my time into one that is dangerous when there are 3 that could be helped in that time that have not been taught dangerous behaviors. (Thinking about one in particular where the lady gave him treats to make him feel better after he bucked her off. Or one that flipped over the second time she was asked to move forward. Or the one that learned if it scared the rider enough it got done with work.) These horses might be fine pasture ornaments but that is not exactly in demand.

This owner and the trainer that said fennel may just be a jerk of a bird is disgusting. I have no sympathy for this owner. She blames the bird and not the fact that she’s not bonded to nor experienced with this bird. It’s you, not the bird. I’m sorry…no tolerance for gaslighting and blame shifting….to a bird!
