Fennel's journey taught me so much and it shows how differently you have to train each individual bird and the patience required to do it! Loved her journey!

Isn't it funny how we may meet a person, get to know them a little bit, or maybe it's that vibe you get when you first meet them, and you know, they are not friend material. But yet we get a critter, and just expect we're going to dig each other just because we picked them out. We never give it a thought that they didn't pick us, and given the choice they would rather be elsewhere.

I agree. My African Grey actually 'picked' me. Out of about 9 in the indoor aviary, she would always come to the door as soon as I walked into the building. Ive had her for 16 years now. You still have to wotk at the relationship even if they enjoy your company, but that initial attraction definitely helps with initial training.

Im personally seeing the opposite from Chelsea. She doesnt seem to understand the process or how to respect and communicate with Fennel. Her daughter seems to be way more in tune with birds. Chelsea does not seem like a bird person in any way. She definitely could be a great owner but Im really not seeing this as a beneficial situation for the bird

@@haleybushey4289 Another reason to hopefully see an update! Thinking her daughter lives there, so maybe Fennel will get the right blend of support. Fennel is an Eclectus, and a hen at that. They are a different breed. So beautiful and so intelligent. It's great that the owner is getting a grip on what she's gotten herself into right from the start, because an Eclectus hen can quickly figure out that she is smarter than you and then you're screwed. For life. Talking from experience.

I'm actually sad Fennel is going home 😥. I could see how disappointed Chelsea was, that she was hoping for an immediate improvement - which we all would. I hope Chelsea and Fennel are able to work together and that Fennel is able to be the companion bird Chelsea so dearly wants 💙

I think it hurt her feelings when Fennel didn't take to her more quickly than her other ones did. I know it can be frustrating. But, as Kir.amd.Dave has said some birds take to one person than another for some reason. If I remember correctly, Jamie felt kind of that way when one of theirs that was supposed to be more her bird took to Dave more instead of her.

I had the same emotional response as you. I would have been thanking Jamie over and over. However, maybe we should think about the interaction that was not filmed to be shown to the public. Also, perhaps Fennel’s owner would be more of a “Fennel” personality if she were a bird, rather than a cockatoo.😂 I just saw Jamie using her awesome perception and skills, as always, to effect an amazing level of change. I wish Fennel and her family and flock lots of success.

I think positivity is everything with parrots. - If you have the right attitude and confidence, they'll respond to it. My daughter (now away at college) was always hesitant to pick up my African Grey, and that resulted in her pulling her pulling her hand back b/c she didnt want to get bitten. I told her "Think about how quickly you'd lose confidence in a particular elevator if it had a habbit of suddenly and randomly dropping 3 feet when you were getting on." IMO, learning to read their body language, and projecting confidence and positive energy really helps with training. Also helps when dealing with most intelligent animals, as well as people.

People in the comment section here are judging this woman so hard without knowing her, while at the same time claiming that the entire problem with the bird is that the woman is judging it's behaviour without knowing it properly. She cares enough for the bird to go out and get a professional trainer, pay the huge amounts of money that probably requires, and she obviously cares enough to get sad that the bird doesn't seem to love her or be affectionate towards her. How can you say she doesn't care? So many people that watch this channel seem to know literally nothing about birds or training, and just enjoy reveling in this holier-than-thou attitude that watching these videos give them. Shame on you, honestly.

@@spuilloh2637 I appreciate your support. I'm reading these comments wondering how I came across so ungrateful and disinterested. I love Fennel! And I love Jamie! What isn't on any of these videos is the first 6 months of life with Fennel. The lunging, growling, biting, attacking... the small approximations I had to do (seconds at a time, inches at a time)... another professional trainer (who worked the bird training program at the Houston Zoo)... the progress we made so Fennel could be outside her cage, picked up by a hand, motivated by treats, and be around toys. I did not expect Jamie to turn Fennel into the companion bird I spoke about. I expected Jamie to (and she did!) figure out if Fennel needs to be an aviary bird, or if she could possibly develop into a pet. Fennel and I have a lot of history, it's true. And because of that, I SO want this little bird to get everything out of life that she can. I'm extremely grateful to Jamie (sorry we didn't hug on camera :) ), and I'm very interested in Fennel developing into the best bird she can be. Maybe it didn't come across on camera to people who don't know me - I care so much about getting this right, and I care so much about my beautiful, little ekkie hen who holds all the cards.
