I have never read a single ASOIAF book, but i love this world so much that this is my first book by George. And i agree it does seem dry but i still hooked, I'm currently reading the Dance chapters now. After this BIG book, I'll be reading A knight of the seven kingdoms. 😀Dunk and Egg🎉

@@rigobartolome5963 That’s great, if you enjoy this book then you’ll LOVE the main ASOIAF books! A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms is a very different writing style, more light-hearted and I got through it very quickly but absolutely loved it, I hope you enjoy it too 😁

@BeckyDoesBlog how long did it take you to read the whole book? I promise myself to read at least an hour a day or a chapter per day, but I'm a slow reader using Audible 🙃
@BeckyDoesBlog2 ай бұрын
@@rigobartolome5963 I’m quite a slow reader too, I gave myself a goal of at least 30 pages or 2 chapters each day (whichever was longer). I think it took me around a couple of weeks to finish it by doing this method. Normally I can read a book quicker but this one is huge and tiny font so it took a while haha

Dunk and Egg is the best, but after you should move on to the main books

Great review, Becky! And yes, your comments pertaining to the book’s ending are not strange as I definitely feel the story falls off after the conclusion of the Dance of the Dragons war before abruptly ending. Also, despite George saying Winds of Winter was his top priority, George recently posted on his blog stating that he was working on the sequel to Fire & Blood. Meaning that George wasn’t being entirely truthful with us 🥲
@BeckyDoesBlog2 ай бұрын
@@booktubeadvocate Thanks for the comment! Yes the ending was very random as I turned the page and was surprised to see that nothing else was there haha. Why does George do this to us?! We should always expect the unexpected with him 😂

Robert from "In Deep Geek" made a great video about the incident, just a day ago. Of course he doesn't know more than the rest of us, but he is brilliant at gathering facts and finding connections and hidden messages.

I was bummed that it left you on a cliffhanger for Aegon III, but I really liked how he hit his 16th name day and told everyone to piss off

The whole purpose of ASOIAF is that the throne doesn't matter when there is an existential threat coming from the North... or as Ned would say, Winter is Coming...

Great review. I was surprised how much I enjoyed this book after hearing about the style. There were definitely certain sections that were more entertaining than others but overall it was fun to learn about the history of the Targaryens. If you like dragons, you should also try George RR Martin's The Ice Dragon. Its a short story that was re-edited and rereleased as a children's story with illustrations. The original story can also be found in his short story collection Dreamsongs (no illustrations), but I would recommend the children's version as I think it a better version.

@@brianjkinney Glad to hear you enjoyed this book, I was also surprised that I liked it because I went into it with worse expectations! That short story sounds interesting, can’t believe I’d never heard of it. Thank you for the recommendation, I’ll definitely check it out ☺️

Joffrey already spoiled the end of the Dance... he told Maergery how a certain person died... luckily most show watchers missed that detail.

The book didn't evoke any emotion but it evoked love for Jahaerys?

Not so patient for Winds... Personally I refuse to buy another GRRM book until he finishes Winds...😢 Worth noting, this isn't a record of all the Targaryen rulers. It's part 1 of 2. We still have to wait to learn about the rest...
@BeckyDoesBlogАй бұрын
@@havok6280 Yeah I heard he’s planning on writing a sequel to F&B - will we ever see that?! I hope he releases Winds first but he’s not going to live forever 😂

@@BeckyDoesBloghe still has to finish Winds, start A Dream of Spring, write the 2nd half of Fire and Blood, and finish the Dunk and Egg novellas... I'm not optimistic...😢
