I like how the show was probably trying to convey the new age philosophy but ended up with the opposite result

I feel for this man and have to tell my dad who is dying of cancer that no man can save himself from the penalty of our sins which true justice demands ,only Faith in Christ alone can a man be saved by the gracious gift of the holy spirit !! Hes the only one who can draw us to repentance and recieve this gift of eternal life !!

“How much better for us if all humans died in costly nursing homes amid doctors who lie, nurses who lie, friends who lie, as we have trained them, promising life to the dying, encouraging the belief that sickness excuses every indulgence, and even, if our workers know their job, withholding all suggestion of a priest lest it should betray to the sick man his true condition!” ― Screwtape

Let's see how you do if you end in a similar position despairing over pent up guilt while on death's door and someone comes along and offers mindless speculation.

Should be anyone's nightmare!!! Where are the true believers in a time like this?😨 People are hurting physically, mentally, and spiritually. People are looking for answers, if not now then later on their deathbeds. Thankfully he had the opportunity to contemplate for answers.😨 People may realize that they've been duped by what they've been told to believe and think in our society, people suppress their consciences until they're on their deathbed. It's then that the conscience isn't whispering, but screaming.😨 It's a shame that people on their deathbeds would have to endure such agonies of the soul, because no one have any real answers.😨

Forgiveness is possible only through the blood of Jesus Christ. What he needed was the true gospel, which is that Jesus died on the cross, was buried, and rose again to pay for our sins. Anyone who repents (change of mind), personally believes what Jesus did, and accepts Jesus as their savior will be forgiven, no matter what evil you had done in your past.

love the fact that this shatter's the 'chaplain' on the show - next episode she's quit and gone on her way. kinda showed that her view didn't answer and fulfill all her questions and reasons for life. I didn't quite like the resolution to the guys problems in this episode though - but you can't expect an orthodox and succinct Gospel presentation on a mainline TV show can you :-)
@MackLeeGreen11 жыл бұрын
You say the problem is not the form of salvation offered to him. Tell me, what form of salvation did she offer?? Nothing. All she had was more questions. Amazing that in a scene with a guy dying of cancer nearing death simply looking for words of comfort, and a chaplain, who has a chance to do that, but instead offering only questions that drive him deeper in despair, you turn the dying man into the bad guy. You just don't get it.

What this man needs is a real Christian. The title 'chaplain' is not found in the Bible. She doesn't know God. Chaplaincy is social work unless the chaplain is a believer. I would have told Him the Gospel of salvation 1 Corinthians 15:1-4, and walked him down the Roman road.

I hope she doesn't come out as the hero ("the poor, desperate old guy just doesn't get there are no answers") in the typical, TV fashion. What every human being needs is the acknowlegement of the Greater Other, which is what our legal systems & morality are based upon. When we judge ourselves by ourselves instead (all love, no justice) we pitch ourselves into the abyss of realizing how useless that is. Only JESUS can give us that realization of our need for & love of eternal Life from a Rescuer

Wow, talk about missing the point!!! What answers does he already "know"?? How is he refusing to listen?? He doesn't know the answer, he just knows that she is not offering him any answers. He's at death's door and he's worried about what's next. His main obstacle to forgiveness is the chaplain because she is not offering it. He is scared, remorseful and repentant. He is begging for forgivness and all she has is meaningless speculation.

"no time" ? Clearly he still has sufficient time to shout and rant at the councillor. Please understand the root of the problem. It is not the form of salvation offered to him, but rather his own mentality. He is not seeking the truth. He just wants someone to agree with what he thinks is the truth. So yes, I would offer the same advice. "Best not wait".

Yes, its much better to for a human being to know what a god thinks and tell the man that he is forgiven for a wrong to a third party.
@MrANTIeggman12 жыл бұрын
No, this man needs Jesus's mercy, he needs to repent of his sins and trust in Jesus Christ. Then Jesus will forgive his past sins and pay his fine and he will inherit eternal salvation. But I mean he doesn't have much time for that.
@MackLeeGreen11 жыл бұрын
So even if what your saying is true (It's so not BTW). What would be so wrong with the chaplain humoring him and just telling him he's forgiven?? It's the chaplian's job to provide words of comfort in that situation. It's clear that an absolution will bring him great comfort. Why not just do it?? Instead all she offers is her own new-age nonsense. If anyone is being selfish she is. Please do the world a favor and no not become a chaplain.

@FathaFloyd He does not want "answers". He already "knows". See how he refuses to listen or think. What he wants in this vid is a shortcut to salvation for himself only. What he really needs is to get up and right the wrongs he committed. Donate his organs. Pray for a better world. etc. As the sayings go: helping others is the basis of happiness; saving lives is better than building a big place of worship. In short, his main obstacle to "Forgiveness" is his selfishness.

That's not it at all. He saves that boy's life and it wasn't enough. Clearly he was seeking forgiveness for all that he had done and no amount of future good deeds would have provided that.
