I have enjoyed watching Allison and Eric for several years and am one of their Patreons. I find their personalities engaging and warm, but in particular their candid expression of their frustrations and mistakes, taking all the "blame" themselves and generally being able to smile and laugh at all life has thrown at them, even when poor Clementine was struck by a careless truck driver. It has been interesting to watch them as people - how different (and how much happier and confident they are) since they gave up their past life - one can hardly recognise them as the pale faced ingenus of 2015.

Agree with your assessment. I wish I could’ve grown up with their positive, encouraging, and forgiving attitudes. They can express their disappointment without anger, no whining and complaining. They can laugh together, and assume also cry together. And they make us want to go along with them. They seem to literally have “joie de vivre”!

One thing you can do for hanging up wet things is keep a spring loaded shower curtain rod in your closet to put in the shower. Then you have an extra space you are not necessarily using to hang up wet things. That’s what I did in my RV. You can screw it to make it longer or shorter. While you are driving, you can make it longer snd span it from wall to wall from the overhead cupboards to hang up wet items.

The two of you have grown tremendously through this RV rehab adventure. Your self confidence has bloomed, especially Eric. I would say that you have grown more in the past year than all of the time you have been on youtube. Keep on moving, be it by RV, plane, train, tuk tuk, or camel and thank you very much for sharing your adventure with us.

Loved this episode! One suggestion: Regarding the towing a car, there are a lot of downsides of towing a car or even a motorcycle behind your motorhome, which we have done, and we decided on one trip to just Uber when we wanted to go into town, and it was cheap and we didn’t have to worry about the car insurance etc.
@Theendlessadventure
@Theendlessadventure 3 жыл бұрын
Oh interesting! We've thought about just renting a car if we're going to be in one place for a while. Our RV doesn't have a usable tow hitch right now anyway, so we'll likely just do the uber/car rental method for the foreseeable future. Thanks for the suggestion!
@MichaelTJohnson
@MichaelTJohnson 2 жыл бұрын
@@Theendlessadventure I had a similar size class c and they really aren’t built to tow much. They don’t have a lot of frame structure in the rear, so even with the right hitch, you could risk damaging the frame and basically destroying the back half of the rv. You’ll have to find a shop that can reinforce the rear frame before installing a hitch if you want to tow anything substantial.
@JaylaAndArtur
@JaylaAndArtur 2 жыл бұрын
When we started RVing we experienced so many of the same pros and cons! Instead of towing we ended up driving separately, so one person is driving the RV and the other drives the car. We use walkie talkies to talk to each other and the whole process is really nice! We only drive 4 hours max a day and you don’t have to worry about turns or small roads or gas station tightness. As soon as we get somewhere we’re ready to hop in the car and go into town do something if we want. There’s no hooking and unhooking and the gas efficiency is a bit better and less strain on RV engine. It’s free to try out! Cellphones don’t work everywhere so walkie talkies we’re much more useful and convenient.

We live in a RV full time in Texas. The weather you just have to get used to the elements. You’re camping still. We put reflectix on all the windows. Because the cold air is still seeping in. And thermal curtains. It keeps it super cozy without using much heat inside in 20 degree weather.

I have a 1986 Class C RV, too. I make a point of adding a bottle of seafoam to every tank of gas. It does wonders for improving the gas mileage and reducing the wear on the engine. It is worth every penny. Also, a good thing to do during the muddy season is to keep a throw rug by the front door to catch the mud and water. Make sure it has a rubber back to prevent slipping. Bath mats work really well. Good luck!!

Okay, hubby and I bought a decrepit old shuttle bus in the Summer with the plan of turning into our own little janky paradise. You guys are such a big motivation for me, and you provided crucial inspo to hubby which allowed him to contemplate the benefits of a nomadic existence. Our dream is on hold, unfortunately everyone is suffering at the moment and construction supplies are at an all time high, so we just can't make it work. But, it's people like yourselves that keep our dream alive in the interim. Just wanted to say a quick thank you for the content you provide, in case you don't already realize how sharing your experiences positively impacts others every day. 💖

Ok, we spent two years doing the RV live, and two years doing van life, and we loved it. And here's a tip for helping with quick connects and disconnects at campground: Go to Walmart (or Harbor Freight or just about anywhere that sells lawn care stuff) and buy some quick disconnects for your water connections and hoses. I had some permanently connected on my hose inputs on the van, so I could just quickly hook up a hose and disconnected it when we needed to get moving. Helps a lot when it's raining outside!

When camping with shore power use a small ceramic heater. Saves on propane & gives nice dry heat. Smallest one would be adequate for Clementine. Add some portapotty blue tabs to your urine bottle. Or, plumb to grey water tank.

Most RVs are loud when you're driving. Get a small electric heater for those cold nights when you are plugged in. We also have an Olympic propane heater in ours because the stock heater fan is right under our bed! We have limited solar too but have learned to live within the confines of our cattery power. We rarely plug in.... only if we need AC (or heat), and rarely stay in private campgrounds. I don't remember which batteries you put in but 2- 6 volt golf cart batteries will give you almost double the usable energy of 2 - 12V batteries.

We have a 26' 1976 GMC Motorhome and just use a small ceramic space heater. We've been camping where it's gotten down to the 30s and it does fine keeping it toasting inside. Also I think the ethenol isn't a big issue with the EFI, it's mostly for the carb and older fuel hoses because it eats through them. I've been using ethenol for the past 5+ years and ours is still carbureted.

I enjoy your videos, been watching your progress through the RV renovation. We've been traveling full time for a while now. Just a small suggestion, get a small electric heater. It will chase the chill away in the mornings & evenings. They work great when you have electric hook-ups. But even without one you should expect about 2 weeks of heat & cooking from a 20 lb. propane tank. And that ain't bad. Enjoy your freedom & travels while you're young. We're retired & have been traveling full-time for 4 months now.

You guys did a great job and it shows!!! Life on the road- as everything else in life- takes some getting used to, but you'll find what works for you after a while... Also instead of hitching a whole car, you can get 2 folding e-bikes and go wherever you want- lots of RVers go that route- food for thought... Anyway so happy you're back on adventuring and we'll definitely see you on the road!!! 😁✌❤

I know your thinking of towing a vehicle, but for other people, I highly recommend a hitch storage rack on the back. I own a much smaller class B and that outside storage helps a lot, so I never clutter up my inside space. You can put a lockable bin on the storage rack or they sell all in one storage bins that connect to a hitch. I personally found a ATV storage rack which is much higher off the ground and works fine. I added taillights and moved my licence plate on the back of the rack. (and a licence plate light) to make it legal. On my rack I also can fit my electric scooter. So if you both get electric scooters you can forgo towing a car.

We are so proud of you two for this project. Clementine is pretty close to the '84 RV we traded up to and took our then family of 5 to Charleston SC for Spring Break (great mansion and house tours), Quebec City, Quebec for the summer break, and Disney World then Sanibel Island FL for the winter break. Rinse and repeat for over 7 years. Then we adopted a little new born baby girl from Texas to add to our 3 boys and stayed with her in that motorhome in TX for 2 months while waiting for the interstate adoption to clear back in our Northern home state. Rather than tow a car behind on an A frame, they are a pain to attach and detach in inclement weather, get a couple of electric assisted bicycles, they can be stored on a rack on the rear of Clementine and be plugged into the electrics to charge when travelling. Good to hear that everything is running fairly smoothly in the RV and that nothing has broken 👋👋👋 Enjoy Mexico! Sounds like a great plan to mix things up with a bit of RV life and a bit of galavanting around the world 😁

Depending how far you want to travel from the camper, consider a couple of ebikes. Cheap, easy to store and won't make your fuel usage skyrocket even more, and they're good fun.

Pour some odorban in pee jug. Smell will be gone. You can buy at Walmart. Odorban can also be used as disinfectant spray. There are many uses for it (lincluding laundry). 1 gallon jug makes 32 gallons.

Loved hearing your thoughts on RV life. Since work from home started we have romanticized life on the road and it’s great to hear a balanced account of the life style. Overall, it still seems worth the inconveniences!

Since you usually get an RV spot with hookups, get a very small electric plug in heater. They even make them that plug directly into to the socket like the Glade room deodorizer. Double think driving to Mexico. Do your research 1st. Have fun on your trip!

Driving in Mexico is great, might be a bit rough in Clemmie but I've driven the entire length multiple times.

As far as the weather. make sure you keep a full-length poncho. that way you only have 2 things to change in the shower. Also, we were just at that new Braunfels bucees today it was awesome.

I have to tell you again, I started watching you guys around 1.5 years ago, you were my first "sub" for the nomadic tribe. You absolutely nailed this design! from the tile to the blue cupboard color, the custom woodwork YOU DESIGNED...I love the pillows on the sofa sleeper. the cute sunburst mirror designs. so much thought. its been awesome watching you progress. The light fabrics make the space feel so endless! but be wary in Sedona haha keep those windows closed!!! XOXO to my OG fellow midwesties!

Thank you so much, Jess!!! 🥰 We're so glad other people love Clementine as much as we do! And we are definitely learning that light interiors are a lot more maintenance than darker colors/patterns. We have a feeling that'll be a big part of the adventure...learning how to keep everything clean 😅 Maybe if we head out to the desert we'll switch everything out for brown fabrics 🤣

You could get a tow dolly and easily towable vehicle. Then you can park and take off. Pull behinds come with their own set of issues. I have lived the RV life a good part of my life. At this point I have a 2 1/2 acre homebase in Arizona. I live in a fifthwheel on it that I've lived in for a decade and have a septic system and water its hooked to. I use solar for power. Eventually I want to hit the road more and have an old Dodge Commander project motorhome for that. I enjoyed watching you guys remodel Clementime but would like to see you eventually consider shipping her to Europe for an adventure! I wouldn't mind doing that with mine and driving to Berlin to see some friends. Then touring Europe with it.

We just have a plug-in heater you can get at any Walmart. It keeps our rig warm and it's a bit longer than yours. $25-35 and that's it!
