This was an interesting expose to see float across my youtube feed. I do not follow anything else Gainesville related on youtube and I have not searched anything Gainesville related on Google in recent memory. I have not used the broken Google search system in years. So Donavan Arnold, however way you managed to make that happen, kudos to you for hanging in there. I have an extensive Gainesville history having spent 27 years there (in the past) and raising a family in Gainesville during that period of time. I see that this video is a marketing video (of sorts) of a hard working Realtor attempting to raise his community profile by putting content on youtube. Gainesville's crime uptick is relatively recent, it is involving gun violence more and more and the woman in this video alluded to the source of the problem as being [crimes committed between individuals or groups that are known to each other]. She also identified it as primarily involving juveniles which is something most people are aware of. In short, the kids are shooting at each other more and more and the underlying cause is drugs. Some organized element brought drugs into the community initially in the relatively recent past and then proceeded to show the younger set how to get involved with drugs at all the various levels of using and distributing and laying stake to territory in that distribution process. The longer the community that includes the parents and local law enforcement lets it proliferate (does not form the properly equipped and educated task force that involves proper investigation, deterrent, apprehension and the community at large), the more pervasive it becomes. The layers of (small time, medium level and big time) drug lords will gain ground and the problem will become worse. More (already strained) households will shatter and more children will die. The evolving political environment is pushing things in the wrong direction. Good luck to everybody on that.

@@LivinginGainesvilleFlorida [Something Else] I retired in May of 2016 and I left Gainesville and the U.S. in January of 2017. There was another series of events both in November of 2016 and January 2017 that served as significant correlating factors in my decision to pull the plug. You can ponder it and probably figure it out. Best of luck in your real estate endeavors. I was a Broker Associate at the time of my retirement. I completely understand all of the dynamics you are working with.

How could have she been in law enforcement that long, she looks so young. Both of my kids live in gainesville and we are looking to settle here. I dont really think of gaineville as having a crime problem, but there is a homeless problem. My daughter had and expensive ebike stolen from the bike rack at her apartment last year. Generally i feel safe on the streets in the gainesville area. We are looking at one of the outer towns like Newberry, high springs, melrose, Hawthorne ect which have less crime. Thanks for covering this subject, anyone thinking of moving to this area should take crime into account. Larry

international students coming from 3rd world countries (lndia) are actually adding into the crime, especially Gainesville being a university town.
