I’m living in the Netherlands, and I was raised with black pete, so was every other person in this country. Does that mean we are racist? Ofcourse not, it’s the other way around. The people that want do deny other peoples traditions are being racist, they should accept those traditions, just the same as we accept their culture. Black pete has nothing to do with slavery or racism, it’s part of a fun and beautiful tradition for childeren. We should be proud of our traditions. And we should be proud of the position of the Netherlands in the history of the world.

Being able to hear Black Pete but not see him, is not because his face is black and therefor you can't see him (if I even understand your argument correctly) but because Pete's were cunning in the art of surprise. Before they made their grand appearance at home, they would knock on the door and windows, building tension for you as a kid. Our parents would then say "Oh that must be Black Pete!". As a kid you would get excited and started singing songs. You heard him knocking on the windows but couldn't see him yet because the curtains were closed and it was just too dark outside to see anyone anyways. Then a door opens and a handful of candy is thrown in the room. Enter Black Pete and Sinterklaas and the party started. Implying that we are racist because you interpret and old kids song the wrong way is racist in and of itself and should be dismissed and forgotten.
