she could be amazing in kinich burning teams if you're not using that one burning buffer ladie, because kinich still likes the shield and the interrupt resist, and xiangling bennet combo with vv swirl sounds fine and two stones 1 bird type situation, since kinich likes burning more since you get more E's off then in burgeon

Lan Yan is looking like she will be a decent shielder. Being an anemo shielder with the VV set does give her a lot of team flexibility, and the shield does seem decently strong. Her main issue is her shield uptime. Every other shielder in Genshin had a shield duration of 12 seconds or longer. Lan Yan's only being 8 seconds means its going to expire before the main DPS is finished in most rotations. We just have to see how the beta goes.

i just wish her shield had more uptime, a refreshing shield is amazing but 8 seconds of downtime will feel pretty horrible in most cases, thats the same amount of downtime as dehya

I'd still go EM even if her shield scales off attack. Reason being she has the versatility in absorbing the appropriate element effectively raising the shield's HP vs the right opponent. Her A2 also replenishes her shield when attacking so rather than big shields she focuses on smaller but a highly sustainable shield. Lanyan's short shield duration and C6 just hints her being an onfield driver as well. It's just too short to even be viable as a support shield.

There's also that p2w Sumeru catalyst that gives a hefty attack boost based on your em that will be her bis.

Lan Yan is designed to be a Swirl Driver. If you've noticed, her ICD is great for spamming reactions. The EM scaling is there to further incentivize this playstyle. The shield is meant for herself, not really for the team. That's why they locked her full shielding potential at C6. It's very similar to Yanfei who can be played as a DPS or a shielder.

personally her V1 character value rn is very similar to heizou, both have their CC tied to their burst, can use VV and are catalyst, melee range for the most part, provide a bit of EM Heizou C0 while Lan C4. The only difference is that heizou is more offensive/damage, lan is more defensive/sustain. I really hope her shield becomes a bit more like layla's though i.e. theoretical 100% uptime. the 50% uptime is kinda bad, and hoyo is basically saying pull C6 to fix this issue (and its still bad cause you can't realistically swap exactly every 8s)

I think she could be like a mini version of a c0 chevreuse too. She does res shred and can buff atk with ttds, just like chev at c0. And yeah Ik a c6 sucrose will be better on that sense too, but not everyone has sucrose at c6

I feel like she also can fit pretty well in wanderer teams with faruzan, if you dont want to use furina with him (because its an uncomfortable team to use). She can battery faruzan at c6 and with a crit build she could also do sizeable dmg by using faruzan buffs. If her shield hp snapshots bennet, a character you would use in a wanderer team would also buff her dmg and shield. I personally plan to use her with skyward atlas with a crit build as a sub dps for my wanderer

I wonder if she can snapshot bennett's attack bonus and increase her shield value to about 15k + 2.5k ≈ 17-18k hp shield, then multiply by the 2.5× absorbtion bonus from that element absorbed by the shield to around 45k, and with C2 can at least heal the shield back by 80% of its max value. That will make her shield insanely tanky, but only for 8 seconds lol

You are ignoring her burst motion value. Put her on a Wanderer team with Benny and Faruzan, and her burst should make for some funny numbers and take a good chunk of health off a boss.

I’m wondering if she will be a good option for Nuke Mualani. I am planning to run Mavuika and Xilonen with Mualani, so that leaves me another free slot. I think she would be a good option since Mualani can really enjoy resistance to interruption, and Lanya c4 em buff would be useful to Mualani. However…. I already have Mona C2 who I was planning to use instead. Mona C2 burst buffs vape damage (not sure if the buff is just for Mona but I assume by the text that this is team wide). This would also give me hydro resonance for more Mualani HP. I’m just not sure about Mona’s stealing Mualani’s vapes, but if I don’t use skill maybe that wouldn’t be a problem, since the burst only applies hydro once.

I think it will, but either way this is an Anemo Catalyst character, you'll be swirling with normals whenever you want.

sorry but i think shes bad, her shield uptime is so short that it doesnt matter the scaling it has, it will be gone after 8s anyways, you can reset it at c6 yea, but only the 3 first shields, after that, you will have issues again because the charges of elemental skill share their CD, also a lot of main dps can't switch during the rotation. The only thing that can fix her is more shield uptime

I guess they will just always release one Liyue 4* character (+ sometimes even a 5* as well) for Lantern Rite. It's been like that since Inazuma - Yun Jin + Shenhe; then Yaoyao during Sumeru and Gaming + Xianyun during Fontaine). But yeah, Mondstadt could definitely use a new character (there were some rumors for one during Fontaine pacthes, but ig those just remained rumors).

Yey the first playable NPC! Her design is honestly nothing special, let's be honest. It's not the absolute worst (Arlechomo has that 'honour'), but it's nothing to write home about. The only people who are praising it are femcels who hate Natlan characters for being sexy. The same people who are hating on Chasca's design despite it being miles better, and her being a better character generally, and hating on Mavuika because of her zipper, and think mediocre designs like Clorinde/Chiori and downright ugly ones like Arlechomo were "peak." Those people are stuck in 2017-18 twitter and are best laughed at, not pandered to, since they're a small but very obnoxious minority (Fontaine was so bad people literally hyped the mess that is WuWa out of sheer spite for Genshin, Natlan is so good they've stopped doing that and came back.) I'm not saying Lan Yan is ugly, she just feels underwhelming and mid even for a 4*, and like she came from a different game if not an AQ NPC, basically female Mika in that regard. They also made her pretty unappealing in being a shielder. Outside of Zhongli and maybe Kirara/Layla (even then, for things unrelated to their shielding, like dendro/Cryo application and def shred), shields aren't really worth your time, healing is better and some enemies flat-out ignore shields, whereas healing is always important, and only Arlechomo doesn't benefit from healing and needs a shielder. Hu Tao would like one but it's not impossible to run her without one, even then, it's always going to be Zhongli. In any case, the cap on her design is crazy, it's very much mid and she looks pretty but like a special NPC. Literally give her red hair and you have Clervie.
