People with a gluten free diet have to avoid almost all types of fast food other than fries. This causes most of them to automatically choose healthier alternatives. Sometimes just having to think about your diet can have positive results. Most people sadly do not care about their diet unless it's january and they want to loose fat.

Funny that going gluten-free can make you deficient in iron. Why is that? The opposite happened to me. I went gluten-free due to IBS symptoms & hashimotos, and my iron (ferritin) went from zero to totally normal. True, its possible that I am an undiagnosed coeliac but for sure it’s helped me absorb nutrients better.
@annywei53233 жыл бұрын
Take a look at the ingredients in the food you ate that are gluten free. It’s very common that companies which produce those products would deliberately add iron into the food. Especially gluten free cereal. If you only buy the raw veggies and rice and cook yourself, you will have iron deficiency.

I already know this video is full of shit, because rye and barley do not contain gluten. Second of all, the wheat kernel itself, does not contain gluten. Gluten is only created when the flour is moistened and mixed. Rye and barley do not contain the proteins that combine to make gluten. If the author of this video does not know that simple scientific and biological fact, there's no way I can believe anything else asserted in the rest of the video.

I have celiac disease that was diagnosed in 2013 after two years of treatment for multiple sclerosis, which I do not have but first degree relatives do. The infusion I was given was chemotherapy, also used to treat bone marrow cancer and prostate cancer, which I also do not have. I am short and thin; I experienced delayed puberty, thyroid deficiency, tooth decay, IgA deficiency, anemia, depression, osteoarthritis. First degree relatives passed away from breast cancer, diabetes, mitral valve prolapse, miscarriages, endometriosis, Parkinson’s and multiple sclerosis. I see the connections. I am 71 and I take a multivitamin/mineral/probiotic supplement specifically for celiacs. It’s called CeliAct that seems to be helpful. Wheat is also found in beauty products, detergents, soap, seasoning mixtures (use individual seasonings). I was previously doing well on the gluten free diet u til I inadvertently ingested wheat/barley/rye about 6-8 months ago. It will take time now for the gut to heal, but at least I know what happened and what to do (hopefully). Any thoughts or tips from my fellow celiacs? Doctors?

Another short doc mentions Fructans {never heard of before tonight...} that are a form of sugar that bacteria break down, forming gases and a couple of toxins {which account for giddy / foggy brain} so this sounds like the key for people who have effects but are not totally gluten intolerant. In the name of science, I used to have mud cake like a pig. But years later started having gas problems then learned about gluten damage. But stopping the abuse gives the gut time to heal, and as they say you can have a little and the immune system learns to cope. But lately with fasting but having dark chocolate I noted certain gas smell {mildly but enough to cause concern and look down these paths investigating chocolate - only to recall the gluten issue} as i have been able to have my cake and eat it too so to speak. So Im picking you can repair damage by giving gut a rest from abuse then slowly reintroduce. But sugars are becoming the increasing target of many problems in todays world causing many issues. So I figure a little bit of chocolate during 'little quickie fast' causing small issue says the gluten in chocolate could act directly with the gut, so instead normally with good food stomach is able to handle without "raw effects" and on top of that issue is cutting the sugars down. {My little ginnie-pig opinion hunch} in what is obviously an increasing issue were we all need help to point in the right direction. And yes - some serious tests need to be done to look into GE foods / modern wheats etc... but under system of toddlers with cookie jar {so-called democracy} meaningful research will only be hindered by the other toddlers with a bigger 'silver spoon to polish' {axe to grind....} and only Kingdom is likely to get to the truth and get rid of anyone getting in the way - properly.

Great info but it is hard to control our diet; many people have addiction to wheat products. Minimizing bread means less sugar intake and that is good for our health. I personally feel better when eating rice (gluten free) than eating bread. Oils used in frying (example: palm oil) are also harmful to our health.

Rice is a starch based grain, so you're still getting some considerably sugar intake from eating it.

It's not the food itself that's necessarily the problem, but the quantity of it. Bread is made to taste incredibly good, so it's harder to limit our intake. But it's the same problem with rice. If you eat a lot of rice you'll get the same problems as you would with bread.

He also said that it's not clear if this is a good or bad thing. Bad being undigested foods being where they shouldn't be causing inflammation. Good being, it could invoke an immune response that can train the body to react and develop. More research is needed. However, if you feel better going gluten-free for about a month. Then it's a clear cut winner. You can always make up for the iron deficiency with inclusion or supplementation.

@ETBrooD Жыл бұрын
FODMAPs are indeed a much better explanation than gluten. In most cases it's purely coincidental that gluten is also contained in foods that people are sensitive to. People with digestive issues can try a low-FODMAP diet for a few weeks and then test FODMAP-rich foods by reintroducing them individually into their meals (in moderate amounts at first). If a sensitivity appears, they can try the same food again after a few days to confirm their suspicion. Also, we should focus on natural foods for nutritients, not on supplementation. Some people are taking a toxic amount of a supplement and it's no surprise they get digestive problems. The reason is that our body responds to many supplements much worse than to nutrients from food. Magnesium for example.
