@Stuart Coker I graduated in 95 and it wasn't very good back either. We had a sociology prof. take me to the dean of students because I would not back down. Little did he know i was there on the g.i. bill. When I stood up for myself in front of this board of whinny libs and laid all my cards on the table, the board backed me up. The chair of my departments wife was an attorney in town, (I babysat for them) she did not have to say a word just sat there. I did all the talking. Harassment of students (always turn the table on them) looks bad, and could be a law suit. "How dare you sir," harass a veteran, "you must hate America." Debate team in high school really pays off.

@orlando pena Both the Old Testament and New Testament are from God. The Bible is infallible, inerrant, and, complete. God, does not listen to the prayers of sinners (John 9:31). But, He will hear the prayer of those seeking forgiveness and reconciliation to Him. The Bible states, we have all sinned and fallen short of His glory (Romans 3:23). Moreover, the wages of our sin is death (Romans 6:23). But, God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten son that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but, have eternal life (John 3:16). So, simply put, as it is now, no you cannot just talk to God, He will hear you, but, not answer. So, you must first repent of your sins (this means to seek forgiveness from God and turn away from your sins) and put your trust and faith in Jesus Christ alone to be saved. Then, you will be reconciled to God. Consequently, you will be born-again (John 3). Once you have repented and put your trust in Jesus alone, you can talk to Him all the time, and He will hear and answer your prayers. His answers will either be, no, yes, or wait.

Great point, Robert. On the one hand, it’s sad that seeing young people at college being mature and responsible is such a breath of fresh air these days. On the other hand, it’s still a breath of fresh air, and we should acknowledge it whenever we see it because that’s how we begin to make that the norm again.

I once heard a frece that say ''All this dependency on science will end like a bad dream, we will climb the mountain of knowledge more higher and higher, only to find in the top a group of theologians siting there since centuries". One have to explain things in a secular manner not because is incorrect or wrong, but because is to dificult to understand from the ones that are not familiar whit it. Some times i think of explaining things in a religious way then say "now i will translate and simplify" and start speaking in a secular way.

Random Conservative Jesus was a radical revolutionary. He was a full scale human rights activist and was murdered for his life and the ideas it represented - because they were not conservative enough. He helped the poor and the needy and advocated we do the same. He blessed prostitutes and flipped tables in the church. Everyone is made in the image of God and the true nature of Jesus is he is an individual. To truly be like Jesus you need to be an individual, not a wannabe clone. That’s the expression of creation - individuality - not conformity. It’s developing new creation into its own unique thing. If that is conservatism, then sure.

Thank you Andrew, wonderful talk and Q & A..! However, you did not directly address Is God A Conservative..? Would love to hear your thoughts on that topic..? Two somewhat related topics: 1) Is God A Conservative..? My thought is (which may be not fully thought through) that I don't understand, is how you can be a Christian and not be conservative..? My understanding of Christianity from a foundation of the old testament Bible through Christ's life and teachings in my opinion fit tightly with conservative values: Obedience to 10 Commandments Love God with all your heart, love your neighbor as yourself Respect the sanctity of God given life Be financially responsible, invest wisely, don't get into debt Obey the laws of the nation Don't let the sun go down on your anger Settle disputes peacefully Purity in your thoughts, speech, deeds Salvation is an accepted gift of those who believe, not earned through your works Believer's are to become a new creation, renewal of your mind in Christ Jesus On and on... Therefore, maybe an appropriate phrasing of the question is how can you be a far leftist, and consider yourself a Christian..? 2) Upon review of the current state of America's federal government, which has far exceeded the Constitutional mandate, size, power, reach... What practical actions can conservatives take (in addition to living out our faith daily in all that we do and speak to change hearts and minds through salvation in Christ, thus improving America's moral fabric) to help repair America's political brokenness that's crippling the nation regarding the two massive problems A) fraudulent elections, and B) political weaponization of FBI, CIA, DOJ, IRS, State Department, etc., that hijacks any real progress on all the downstream issues like restoring law and order, free our captured K-12 and university education system, restore sound fiscal policy, reduce outrageous budget deficits, secure our borders, stop illegal immigration, reestablish peace through strength in our foreign relations, etc, etc, etc..? Thanks you..! Prayers and Blessings for all in America and all around the world..! 🌎 🙏🙌❤️🇺🇲🗽⚖️

Jefferson was very much a Christian, he just didn’t believe any of the various churches at the time were the true church of Christ; here is an excerpt from a letter Jefferson wrote to a friend: “[T]he genuine and simple religion of Jesus will one day be restored such as it was preached and practiced by Himself. . . . I hope that the day of restoration is to come. The two kingdoms: West Civilization created by the Catholic Church and the Eastern Civilization influenced by Orthodoxy. Elsewhere there were the lands of the brutes and savages. The West is very self critical, always examining itself and self-reflection. Outside the West there is very little of this going on.

I do agree about the idea of barnacles attaching themselves to religion - *such as* - the utterly stupid idea that that verse is telling us to Never judge. Be careful, be righteous, be loving, see yourself and others clearly, Absolutely. But. I am sick of people using this as an excuse to simply look away from sin or even encourage it. It is *far* from loving to stand aside while those around you are dying in their sin, even if it feels good. Jesus said that there would be many that he will say these words to: "Truly, Truly, I say to you, I never knew you." I don't want to be that person, and I love others enough that I don't want it for them either.
@LeviPaladin
@LeviPaladin 4 жыл бұрын
I agree with you that Christ didn't say "never judge." In fact, He said "judge righteous judgment" (John 7 v24)...but "I never knew you" was in the context of people telling Him about the good works that they did; *“Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. On that day many will say to me, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name?’ And then will I declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from me, you workers of lawlessness.’"* The will of His father is spelled out in John 6 v20; *“For this is the will of my Father, that everyone who looks on the Son and believes in him should have eternal life, and I will raise him up on the last day.”*

@@LeviPaladin What does it mean to believe in Him? It certainly means more than acknowledgement that He's the Son of God. It means you also believe what He tells you. While you're good works don't save you, your lack of them will condemn you.

@@dragonsandsuch God's not seeking your glory. It's by grace we're saved, not by works; works are a manifestation of salvation. _Now to the one who works, his wages are not counted as a gift but as his due. And to the one who does not work but believes in him who justifies the ungodly, his faith is counted as righteousness, just as David also speaks of the blessing of the one to whom God counts righteousness apart from works: “Blessed are those whose lawless deeds are forgiven, and whose sins are covered; blessed is the man against whom the Lord will not count his sin.”_ ~Romans 4 vv5-8

If you are interested in the question, there is plenty of evidence. But he is not basing his point on the premise that God exists. He is making the case that Christianity has created liberal western society, and supporting the case, in part, by citing atheist thinkers. I am not sure how you managed to miss the point. Or are you just trying to distract the comment section so we forget the point?

People create the god they need. That's why the god of the Jews, the monarch, the storm in the desert--became a passive quiet teacher in the first century occupied land who preached heaven and hell (not Jewish) and loving one's enemies--instead of beating them into non-existence. Then when Christianity folded into the Roman Empire in the 4th century, it adopted the pagan ways of THAT culture--Easter, Christmas, no law but Roman law. It's whatever.

The foolishness of any form of subjectivism is that it asserts two diametrically opposed principles; 1. There are no oughts, therefore 2. You ought to live this way. Why they cannot see this, I will never understand. If premise one is true, premise two can NOT be true. If premise two is true, premise one can NOT be true. It is a tautology. By definition. Haha

Oh, you guys make me laugh. Acting just like the "libtards" do. For example: liberal democrats will say "Trump is a racist". That is a claim. When asked to prove their claim they usually can't name even one thing racist about him or use false or inaccurate information as their reason. Then they continue on saying he's racist. Christian say "god is real". I ask them to prove it, they say they can't, then go on STILL claiming it's real. Just like how liberals do with racist claims. Christians and liberals make claims with no real justification but assert it's true anyway. Don't even criticize liberals if you are doing the same thing.
