I’m so thankful I found this! I find all your videos very inspiring! I’m 42 and have been coloring my hair since my early teens. I had grays in my early 20s. I was criticized by others and friends and decided to religious color. I feel done and feel I need to do this. Thank you for all the tips!

Starting the journey, my last roots touch was 3 weeks ago. I have a long way to go but ready for it. The roots are already showing. I am 53 and I don’t want to hurt my scalp anymore. I am not a very patient person but I want to go cold turkey and I have long brown hair that I want to keep. Please wish me good luck, I will need it 😂

Good luck - you can do it! You might want to watch the video I did about the dye trip technique - that’s a good hybrid technique if you want to keep your length but you don’t want an obvious skunk stripe.

Yes to all of it, Katie! Especially your recognition of the gorgeous color. I have also described it as Christmas on my head...cause it's so shimmery and shiny! Like silver thread! Good for you, Katie - I love your new UTube channel! Keep spreading the good news....You are LUCKY if you're blessed with silver hair! Wear it proudly!!

I feel so much more relaxed now that I cut off the blonde layer. I didnt relish a short cut but I waited 9 months with no dye and the stubborn blonde layer concealed all new grey hair! I am excited to see my hair long but for now I am thrilled to feel my silver hair growing out and looking so much healthier.

Wow! Katie every pro you talked about I feel the exact same way 😊 11 months into my transition & absolutely love my natural hair. I don’t want to lose my length either, so I’m waiting it out. I totally get where your viewers are coming from with their list of cons. However, if you don’t care what others think you’re good to go from the start! Other opinions don’t bother me.

Thank you Katie for your inspiring videos. I started my journey two months almost three. I did this because I had to find the time to color my hair at home and also the fact that 2 weeks were not enough 3 days later I would find grey hairs showing through. My most important reason, to ditch the dye, my hair was falling out in chunks every time I shampoo it. My hair became brittled and very dry. I want to keep the hair 😂 i have left. and honestly, i am tired of trying to be someone younger just because society expects us to dye our hair shaming grey color. At 59 years old I want to be ny true authentic self. love my grey hair its coming out white I am sure it will change as it grows. My husband is very supportive and he was the first person who suggested this years ago. I decided to do this when I was ready and now its time. 😊 God bless 🎉❤

Katie, I hope you are well, and all the best to you and your family. My experience was about 6-8 months behind you. I could not tolerate the dyed blond ends with the gray roots. I spent way too much $ on wigs...then eventually cut it into a sort bob. Three year later now and have medium length hair and growing. Do I love it? Yes I do! Never have been tempted to color my hair again. Thank you, once again for email that encouraged me. You were my inspiration, and may I say, you look lovely. Suzanna

This might be a strange question but what does your hair look like in a side part with your underside so dark in comparison? I'd love to see it. I agree that one of the best bonuses is how unique everyone's color pattern is. It's almost like a fingerprint!
@KatieGoesPlatinum2 жыл бұрын
I'll try to show that in a future video. But when I do a side part, my hair actually looks MORE white, which is not what I expected. I'd like to wear my hair back in a way to show off the dark underside, but I can't find a style that suits me :-)

The last hair color I got was on June 2020, my transition lasted about a year and a half. I think because I was having some hair loss I used good vitamins for hair loss and medications that I believe helped me grow it faster. Best decision ever, I love it and I get lots of compliments on my hair color.

@@jenjen2824 I Take Nutrafol daily as well as Kerotin. I used to take Viviscal Professional but I changed to Kerotin. Since Nutrafol is kind of pricey, with Kerotin I get a 6 month supply for the same price of a 3 month supply of the Viviscal Professional and I think it is as good. I have both Nutrafol and Kerotin in subscription and that way you save a little. Good luck.

I am curious about the thought of going gray (or being gray) being more difficult for introverts. I have always been an introvert, but I have also always been an artist who believes strongly in being authentic to myself. I understand the push-pull of wanting remaining invisible (undercover) while also wanting to “shine”. The thought that a shy person may not have the fortitude to thrive as a silver-haired person the way an extroverted person might makes me feel sad. I’ll have to sort out how I feel about that. In the meantime, looking forward to your videos that discuss the best ways ti handle unsolicited comments!
@KatieGoesPlatinum Жыл бұрын
Hi! I certainly didn’t mean to imply that introverts might not have the fortitude. I come from a family of introverts, so I thought I had a little insight (maybe not!) into how introverts might feel about the constant unsolicited comments, since they made even me (an extrovert) uncomfortable at times. It’s just a thought I had, feel free to ignore. Xoxo

You hit good points on both sides! It's funny the, you will look old, comments are trained in our brains. When I first went natural I stopped relaxing my hair first and then a couple weeks later I stopped coloring it. Great video 😊

I'm starting to grow out my hair from highlighting it blonde, do I need to use a purple shampoo? If so, what brand is good? ❤
@KatieGoesPlatinum10 ай бұрын
Hi, you don’t need to use a purple shampoo, unless you’re experiencing problems with yellowing on your naturally gray or (dyed blonde) hair. But if that’s the case, the one I prefer is Bold Uniq. But there are a lot of good options out there. ❤️

I have very curly hair which i feel is my identity. You're the second person I've watched that said the curls could become straighter. That really scares me the most. I'm going to try to go gray but I'm only 9 weeks out from my last color and don't want my curls to straighten. That would be a nightmare for me because that would be two major changes in my hair rather than just the graying. Don't know if I could deal with that😮
@KatieGoesPlatinum4 ай бұрын
@@barbkelly9604 I totally understand how that might turn you off. What was your hair texture like as a child? If it was curly as a child - pre-puberty - there’s a very good chance your gray hair will be curly too ❤️

Educating myself on going gray has me thinking 1.) Gray/Silver is GORGEOUS!! I love it so much!! 2.) the fact that people are going to have their own personal issues with this (constant comments) really shows us where we're at collectively when it comes to aging. THAT is sad.
@KatieGoesPlatinum Жыл бұрын
I agree with you on both counts! Definitely be prepared for the comments. It is sad - and what’s really sad, is a lot of the rude comments come from other women. The good news is that if we can put up with that and show it doesn’t bother us, it will help the younger generation, so that maybe they won’t have to go through this too. Maybe they will be more accepting of aging, gray hair , etc!

@@KatieGoesPlatinum yeah - the patriarchy isn't held up by men alone. I have a pretty unconventional haircut and the shaved (undercut) portion is predominately silver. I hope the top ends up that way too. My daughter will love it!
