Maybe the greased watermelon game is a regional thing? I lived in PA as a kid during the 80's and we definitely played it at pool parties. But I can't do backflips or karate, so maybe it was a lower class thing?

This was the first episode of Sunny I ever watched. Didn’t catch it from the beginning and didn’t know what the hell I was watching. It was a long time before I was able to figure out what the show was called and I caught a few episodes here & there whenever I could. Damn, this episode always cracks me up

when I was a teenager working for the BSA, one of the inter-camp staff swimming games was called grease pig. Basically whichever team got the watermelon (or in some cases the most pieces of the watermelon) to their goal on the beach won.

At our small towns swimming pool in Wisconsin the "Deep End" was 18 feet. They didn't drain it often and added in so much chlorine that you needed goggles or else your eyes would be blood red after swimming. Now a days they renovated it because "THE HELL WHERE WE THINKING?!?! How people not die?!?!"

We played that game at the pool! We used Vaseline-covered watermelon and you had to get it to the other team’s side. Kind of football-esque. I remember getting hit in the stomach with it and the air getting knocked out of me in the deep end of the pool. It’s not the safest game, lol. (I’m in TX, btw.)

Also another fun pool game in a round or oval pool even an octagon/hexagon pools…and getting something that can push the water like a boogie board, some sort of flat pool float, etc. And walking forward holding it it out in front of you to push the water. Go around and around and around with people doing the same. Until you create a strong enough whirlpool to stop and get on a float of some sort and ride it around.

If we take the average flow rate of a common garden hose - 13 gallons per minute. And we measure the pool as best we can we get the rough dimensions of 50 ft in length, 25 ft in width, and 15 ft in depth. This gives us a volume of 140,630 gallons of water. If my math is correct, that means it would take 7.51 days to fill with water. Feel free to correct me.

Huh?? Where on earth did you guys go to a public pool with glass and filth? All of the public pools I grew up going to were always super clean. I even worked at one of them all through high school taking care of the pools keeping them clean and the chemicals at the correct levels. And then a life guard for three summers. It was really fun. Whatever city or towns let their public pools get that way should be ashamed of themselves. It isn’t hard to keep up with them once they are up and running.

We used to play this one pool game which was fun as hell. One person would be on one end of the pool and then everyone else would be at the other end. The person by themselves the “whale” would ask a question and the people at the other end (the “fish”) would try to guess the answer. As soon as someone got it right the whale would tell them it’s correct and all the fish would have to swim towards the whale’s end of the pool. And if the whale caught you you lost a point. Whoever makes it to 5 or 10 first wins and gets to the the whale next. Confusing how I explained it but it’s pretty simple

Normies are definitely on the "fringe class." I kind of assume all youtubers are. I got stuck like Mac and Charlie retrieving a tennis ball. It was about 12 ft and I had to basically run up the wall and desperately grab the top and pull myself up. I had just the right combo of stupidity to get stuck and athleticism to get out.

Greased watermelon was definitely a thing, back when I was a kid I used to go to this camp and we’d have 2 teams and then grease up the watermelon and then the teams would have to get the watermelon to the opposing end of the pool which was hard because the melon was slippery as fuck
