One of the best sequels ever. G2 is the gold standard of what happens when you let a director do anything and everything he wants.

While Gremlins 2 is considered a good sequel, it is still a sequel that the director didn't want to make and refused to come back, and then came back with the condition of having a lot of creative control. Plus, giving the artist a white card to do everything they want is not always a good idea, George Lucas is considered a great filmmaker that needed other people telling him what to do, the prequels were hated because he was given too much freedom, and he was only pardoned when the sequels were even worse and at least George Lucas had everything planned from the start.

It really is remarkable what the composers at Sunsoft, Konami, Capcom, and Nintendo were able to do with the *extremely* limited synthesizer in the NES. The amount of melody and expression in the tunes you played here is mind-blowing when you consider what they were working wtih.

It is heartbreaking how little credit America has given videogame music over the years. I'm 36. I'm not ashamed. I deeply love and appreciate 8/16 bit music composition. Good artists make good art, regardless of the medium or limitations therein. Not all art is for all audiences, but this art and audience deserves to be taken more seriously. Thanks Mr. Drunk.

I was 6 years old when this game came out and my mom rented it from Blockbuster for me. Being 6 I had no concept of late fees or returns. I loved the Gremlins movie as a kid I wanted to hold onto this game for awhile even though it was pretty difficult for me. Months go by and my mom realizes that this game was rented forever ago and had to be returned. Of course Blockbuster tried to slam her with some insane late fees, but my mom was no push over and I think they settled on a more reasonable fee. Sorry mom, but thanks for being awesome.

Okay one of those music tracks in this game is definitely one that I really think AVGN should use if something freaky happens during one of his episodes. He does like to sometimes use classic 8-bit music and sometimes 16-bit music in a cinematic way during some scenes in his episodes and I do think wow that one track that was like really dark and supposed to be scary but felt action and oriented as well from this game would have been perfect

From a young age, anything Gremlins related terrified me. It was such an uncanny nightmare for a kid to watch, and for some reason, the first movie was rated PG!! Nowadays, I love both the first and second movie, especially how they pulled off the same insane effects that scared me years ago. It’s nuts how those puppets look so real yet you know they aren’t at the same time.

Gremlins 2 is where Sunsoft used the Master Blaster/Fester's Question engine right. A lot of that is because you usually have a main weapon which fires straight, not in a wave and/or circle and/or out of your right side. You can tell they still love wacky weapon arcs, but they've got themselves under control.

Nice choice for an October game. Yet another highlight in Sunsoft's spotted career. This game was so fun. Not just the music but the visuals were so fun. The little helicopter gremlin and the hands reaching from the floor were so true to source, and somehow even the giant bouncing tomatoes worked. Maybe it was their motion, making them seem like Attack of the Killer Tomatoes with better F/X. The company was really able to wow us with licensed games like this and Batman. But they also made stuff like Platoon...

Noice~! Gremlins 2 is definitely one of my go-to recommended NES games. Funny but true? The game's intended as a sidestory to the movie, taking place inbetween (sometimes instead of) the Gizmo scenes. The music is great, but I do think you missed that there's a fair few easter eggs in the game as well. George being a recurring enemy for one. Def do recommend rewatching the movie, it's got more than a few good moments... Including Christopher Lee in one of his most evil roles and Robert Picardo getting married. Nevermind the blatant LEGO plug, the countless book/movie/etc. references and the amazing puppetry.

Yep! Sunsoft was hands down one of the best developers for the NES. Seeing an article for Blaster Master and it's crisp graphics and hybrid gameplay is what made me finally wish to give my Atari 130XE a new friend. The game ended up being beyond stellar and one of my all time favorites, but the article had never mentioned the tunes. Holy crap, that Blaster Master OST changed everything I thought I knew about game music! After Blaster Master, every NES Sunsoft title was a guaranteed addition to my library. Too bad everything fell apart after the NES days. Blaster Master 2 going to Sega, and then pretty much exclusively Looney Tunes games on the SNES. Had fun with the Roadrunner game, but the heart and soul I had come to adore was sadly gone.
