GW1 will always have a huge place in my heart, its the game I met my fiance in. She was a Monk I was a Warrior. Today majority of players are playing to finish "God Walking Amongst Mere Mortals" Which is a title given when you max 30 titles ~300-400 hours. This title also transfers into GW2. Showing that you "Beat" GW1. For most players, GW1 is just that, a game to beat to gain bragging rights in the game that is being currently being supported. For better or worse the game is solved. Guides and Builds have been min-maxed so much that as a player you will not innovate something that has not already been tested. PvP is filled with bots that WILL mass report you, resulting in a ban. With little to no customer support you'll be unlikely to get it fixed. These bots farm things to sell for real money. The game is a wonderful, one of a kind gem. No other game is like it. Its unfortunate today its just used as a stepping stone

I'm one of those who didn't move to GW2 based on what I heard (so never played). There are ways to self-impose restrictions to keep things fresh. For instance, I'm watching another playthrough that restricts skills to those that would have only been available to the player on a new account, when the campaigns dropped, and in order. No heroes until Nightfall. Most is just henchmen, which really forces the player to abandon now normal builds and tactics.

Same. Played from 2008-2011 and got GWAMM. Just ran the FOW yesterday and bagged 3 Ob Shards. No feeling like it!

i just got back into it recently as well since it's a childhood favorite of mine. The real great thing about this is you get to customize an entire squad of 8 with weapons, armor, runes, armor styles, accessories, and most importantly the skills! So it's like a fantasy within a fantasy game to create your own dream team, making the grinds worth it as you face real danger in hard mode in end game content. To me, one of the biggest things that separates this from other MMOs mainly is the health bar. The skills make you feel powerful when you know what you're doing and you can see instant effects of it on enemies. The regen/degen pip bars for your health also creates what I call [entertainment anxiety] when your character's life drains away and is barely kept alive by healers in your party, but yet you keep fighting on!

Just got the game on the sale and man its a blast. I love both gw1 and 2 in different ways and I cannot compare saying whats better since gw1 is more of a strategy co op rpg. And gw2 is a tab target action mmorpg. IMO I do prefer the tab target action combat of gw2 to gw1 but 1 thing I love to see implimented into gw2 is the party henchmin hero system.

Just recovered my account i had since the beta of prophecies. So happy to be back. even though its made for multiplayer, the ability to play the entire game solo is amazing. Still finding people online that are down to play as well.

Guild Wars 1 is an exceptionally rare MMO in that it has a huge amount of depth to its combat and profession system that has been unmatched by any other MMO before or since. Guild Wars 1 required theory crafting, fine-tuning builds, strategy and combat timing just to solve how to farm and be successful in specific regions, or against specific enemy types. While it's certainly true that people have long created very optimized min-maxed builds for various regions in the game, it's still very satisfying to learn how to use the many different task-specific builds effectively and to synergize them properly with appropriate timing and equipment. When Guild Wars 2 came out, i was extremely disappointed that they stripped away everything that made Guild Wars 1 so great by making the combat mechanics very basic, essentially the typical boring WoW clone slog - nothing like the Titan that is Guild Wars 1 mechanics. With GW2, The great level of joy of theory crafting builds by synergizing dual professions and skills for specific task in specific zones or in PvP was gone just like that. If they had kept the same mechanics as GW1 with a few cool new twist that would have been fine, but nope.

I loved playing as a Mesmer in GW1. The extended duration spell charges gave players more opportunity to strategically use those interrupt builds and just piss so many people off haha. Same with the ranger interruptors lol

I just got back into the game myself. Couldn’t recover my old account unfortunately, but made a new one and just beat nightfall. Sure, the nostalgia is real, but I forgot how much strategy to takes to beat those last three missions on a fresh account without all the op skills unlocked.

Gosh it sucks you couldn't recover your old account! But i'm glad you got to have a blast with a new one anyways. I have my old account, but i'm considering creating a new account just to have a fresh slate experience, go through everything from scratch again, just like when i first played the game. I think it would be really enjoyable!

My mom was the same way with wow but I grew up poor. I'd mow lawns until I could buy 60 days then when my time ran out I'd post on some random site I was quitting wow for whatever new mmo was out at the time and someone could have my account then I'd watch on the site if any gear changed or if the account got a achiv then I knew they bought time and I'd call Blizz support and say I got hacked. I did that from van until mop only paid for time like 4 times in those years. I even got Cata free and MoP for free quitting at the end of an exp and telling them they'll have to buy time and the next exp.

Well you can play through all campaigns and get yourself a ranger rdy for uw and soosc a mesmer for uw and doa and an assassin rdy for dungeon SC and just run with guys you find in kamadan or at embark Beach. Ofc having atleast one of every class and playing it as far as possible is always an option.

​@@Z-MACx we just speaking about a 3rd account here. Nothing special. Maybe let's also do some weapons. R9 Dom Bo Staff. And R9 Eblade for the mes and or sin or just for the ranger to flex? Or do you don't even like the Eblade? Some basic skins like "the katana" or "fell blade" have a simple and elegant design and aren't expensive at all. I need to finally get an Eblade from the uw chest. I never got one, but I've seen more than 10 r9 drop also lots of times for the one just infront or behind of me haha

For the Gwamm I just had to get a few more boni and all missions in hm and needed to vanquished a few more areas (I alrdy had done like 50% of them), took me like half a year. I did that on the side, and still played the game how I wanted to - i like scs. Do you think Gwamm is "endgame"? Do you think kamadan trading is? Or do you think solo'ing everything (with heros is)? What do you even mean with endgame? You can also farm the hero title and go "ha" and it mostly are bots but once in a while you get a good team, so going with a good team yourself saves you some time/or just timing when you go. Ah is a mere shadow of itself, but one can run it and one can still have fun doing so. Meeting the PVP guilds and just doing matches for fun can als be done, but getting 2x8 people ready can be tricky. But I also wouldn't consider this "endgame". Uwsc is what I like the most about the game Ofc uwsc gets boring on l like the 7th run in a row. So you do switch it up with other scs or anything to do. One can also help just about anyone. Doing every position in uw once in a row is also exhausting - but also rewarding. Can you explain your reasoning? Is it mad bc of the sf-skill icon and the 8 skills one is bound to?

For me, Factions came with a new computer and I had never played this type of game. The most nostalgic thing for my is hearing Kisai's attunement even though I then had no clue what that was. I'm currently following a "nostalgic rules" playthrough, which has made me see the game from a broader design perspective. Lots of reasonable improvement possibilities in the initial skills available and the henchmen options.

@@m007remote EOTN is an endgame campaign that you don't start in. Prophecies is a great campaign to experience atleast once from scratch. You get to experience Ascalon before (certain story events), and experience the game as it was originally launched. You get to explore a map you eventually will never have access to again. If you want to min-max though and get heroes ASAP, then Nightfall offers that very early on.
