I think hair typing is useful when I look for creators that have the same type of hair as me to know what routines they feel is best for our shared hair type.

This has been ingrained in us since the days of slavery. We have been shamed for our natural curl pattern for centuries.STOP listening to negativity and embrace your hair. I agree with you 100%! We need to re-educate ourselves to love ourselves just how we are! Being born & raised Dominican, I was raised that if your hair was not silky straight you had bad hair (cabello malo). All my life I believe this & seriously hated my hair growing up! I knew knew my hair since it was relaxed as soon as I got my 1st period. Now being almost 4yrs relaxer free & almost 3 yrs post chop. I love my curly hair & I would never go back to relaxed hair!

Yes omg the Dominican culture is soooo toxic when it comes to having straight hair over curly hair we’ve made a lot of improvement with self acceptance but it all roots from the days of Trujillo and him wanting to whiten the Dominicans like they were Spaniards
