Harley better get the business sorted out for the accessories they can’t provide on the 2024 models this year. We’re still waiting for heated grips to be shipped, apparently October now, and just received our flat out styled rear bag guards. No windscreens to try at our dealer yet also. I couldn’t imagine buying a street/road glide and having to wait months for a “touring accessory package” in 2025. Still waiting for some seats for these bikes to try. How long did they know this 2024 model was coming out to not have accessories…they really dropped the ball this year. Great vid though Mike, keep them coming!

As a serious touring rider who owns a Road Glide Limited, this is going to push serious tourers who want the protection of fairings and lowers for long distance tours, to Honda Goldwing, Indian Pursuit and the many BMW options. Honda, Indian and BMW are going to love this decision. The new touring platform, with the emphasis on performance with the occasional long distance ride, gives the Dyna Bros a new platform to move up to while the serious HD touring riders have to pick through packages to "build" something to their liking. I get it from a business and cost perspective, but it's treating a dedicated segment of riders like an afterthought.

As a serious 2-up tourer I think this would be a huge mistake. If they cancel the Limited I will be looking elsewhere. Lower fairings, painted inner fairing, heated grips, plush backrest/arm rests for the passenger, rear speakers, luggage rack, RDRS system, etc., etc...... I’ve had 2 Limiteds and living in the NW and riding year round the lower fairings help in keeping your lower legs dry and warm. The new touring body style is not supporting any type of bolt on or soft lower leg covering. I really like the new RG but, without some type of lowers means I’d probably put the bike under cover in the garage from Nov to March. And what it's missing is a windscreen, passenger floorboards, fog lights, crash bars, paint choice or contrast, two up seat, comfortable handlebars and probably ten other things I don't remember at the moment. Dealer Installed packages help the dealerships to earn some profit, but they dont help the customer in regards to resale. For a Ford F150, you can purchase a base F150 or several upgraded trim levels, and the book value of your truck varies depending on the factory upgrades. With a Harley, you can purchase the bike of your choice and spend thousands in factory upgrades, but this may not affect the value of your trade-in or bank loan value. Often enough, your bike is valued at the stock value regardless what you did to it (factory or not).

I currently ride a 2018 Road King and 2020 Heritage Classic, and I'd love to see the RK make a return for 2025. Since January of this year, I've speculated that if HD was going to continue to offer the RK as their entry level touring bike, it would HAVE to adopt the styling of the new models inevitably. I was anticipating a mid-year release of the RK, complete with updated saddlebags, tank, instrumentation, engine and most of all, lighting but I was sadly disappointed as we enter mid-August and not a single hint of a new RK. The MoCo also missed a huge opportunity to release one as a 30-year Anniversary model, knowing how much they love to celebrate anniversaries. All in all, it's really disappointing to see how such and iconic model as the RK can just be cast aside and forgotten. Maybe it will make a return next year, who knows at this point what they'll do. Anyway, I enjoy your content and look forward to seeing more.

It seems to me that they keep taking things away that were on certain bikes and yet charging more for the same bike with less. This has been happening before inflation too! I love my 20 CVO Limited. Bought it “used” w/ 25 miles on the odometer. Basically brand new but for far less than the normal Harley price. The CVO line now is crazy! In 12yrs the prices have climbed well over $10k! Absolutely insane! What’s also amusing is that you used to buy a CVO because it had “special paint” and now they’re charging more for the 2 tone paint. It’s not worth it to buy new. Better to buy used and let someone else take that huge depreciation.

There are 2 reasons why there is no "Limited" packages. One being Tomahawk hasn't been able to crank out enough of the new King Tour-Paks and Chopped Tour-Paks for the new model touring bikes. Secondly, they've realized the added 50Lb "up high" weight makes it a challenge for your average aged biker to lift the bike off of its kickstand. Why do you think they're tooting their own horns on how much lighter their new bikes are? It's all a marketing ploy.

Thanks for the video. We will not find out until January 2025 what the decision is. I don’t think they will get rid of the limiteds because of the following reasons. 1. Harley calls the new 117 center cooled. Why would they specify center if they did not have another option. 2. As you mentioned the limiteds have heated grips, lower fairings (no way to mount currently due to chopped engine guard), speakers in the tour pack. I currently ride a 2019 Road King Special that I bought new that I have almost 81,000 miles on it. I have a freedom shield windshield and will occasionally put soft lowers on in the winter. I rarely ride without the windshield because of the wind. I do take it off when riding locally.

It will be interesting to see what the impact on resale prices will be down the road. Today, the Road Glide, and the Ultra are different models. I would expect an "ultra'd up" base road glide to have a lower resale than an Ultra model. This goes with the idea that accessories don't net the seller much on trade in. Time will tell. H-D needs to engineer these bikes afresh to different cams/tuning and some long-overdue enhancements to their long-distance platform, such as electronically adjustable suspension, adjustable windshield, and (maybe) active cruise control to keep pace with the competition from Indian, Honda, and BMW. Not just a band-aid approach, but a rethink is what will keep their long-distance touring customer from feeling alienated and looking elsewhere. Cheers!

The missed out with not offering the new fairings on trikes. The package deals used to be offered years ago by Harley. It was called the Custom Vehicle Operations catalog. You could order kits, paint sets, and so on. They were all limited in production. So your kit was numbered, eluding to it somehow increasing its value. Harley dealers never offered more on trade ins for bikes with limited accessories. Then Harley offered CVO bikes right off the assembly line. The CVO bikes used to be limited edition Screaming Eagle Bikes. So all in all Harley has just come full circle to where they were in the 90’s. So long as they don’t go back to a Wait List for new models.

Packages without a discount are useless other than to inform the buyer of options that exist. Dropping the Limited and only offering packages certainly enriches Harley's coffers as the Limited models were cheaper than adding all the features it had over the base model.

Unfortunately I agree with your assumptions. If you have to purchase a package to make it a limited it's more money for HD and the dealer. You're already paying the price of a limited now, just not getting those accessories. This is kind of what stopped me from buying a bike this year. I was hoping in 2025 they would make the limited with the new engine and cooling system but so many people are paying the extra money to add the tour pak, the heated grips, the rear floor boards, the lighting etc and HD is profiting from it why come out with a ready made limited for less money. That's the one thing I like about Honda, BMW and others, they give you their best horsepower engine for the model and with all the touring accessories already on the bike.

But other then a newer engine the 103 has been good for me. But I did check out the Road King Special "touring" package. To everyone's point though I hope they keep package pricing reasonable.

This just means that dealers will pack new bikes with packages so that they can jack up the prices. I took a Street Glide and added a tour pak rather than pay the inflated price for an Ultra. What HD needs to do is offer the packages directly to the consumer; most of them will pay the dealer to have them installed in any case. But the bigger picture is that H-D needs to empty out the Vampire from Deutschland and his corporate cronies on the Board if the company wants to survive.
