As an Indian owner, and on my third Indian, I'm very happy with my bike overall. I wish the dealer network was larger but I love the bike. Most of the criticism comes from people that have never owned one and are so stuck on a brand...it is silly. I've owned a Scout, still own a Super Chief Limited, and a Springfield.

Nice bikes. I have the pleasure of owning both brands. Harley and Polaris/Victory/Indian. Two different animals for sure. Each with their individual strengths and weaknesses. In my experience, the Polaris brand was ahead in reliability and performance for a while. Harley was forced to catch up. I would buy the one that works best for ME. I personally don't give a rat's butt about politics or what other people like or don't like. That's just useless noise. Just my opinion.

I’ve seen comments that Polaris/Indian is woke and Robby Starbuck will be on them soon, my thoughts are to get the maximum money out of the Harleys, which probably means letting time pass

But if this so called woke stuff is what worries people than everyone better have a good look at every other large company and their policies because you'll be surprised. @@RichInTheHeart that’s cool that they were chill. Which has been my experience at every Indian dealership I’ve been to. However, when engaging a possible buyer it definitely helps to be knowledgeable and confident about said knowledge about your product. Doesn’t mean you have to be overbearing and hovering like so many HD dealerships are. I’m just saying dude didn’t seem like he was very well read up on the bikes. I could be wrong, he could just be camera shy but that’s the impression I got from the short interaction you put on the video. Btw, I think you should definitely get one. I’m more of a Chief Darkhorse and Springfield Darkhorse kind of guy, but if I was looking to get a long distance touring bike, I’d be hard pressed to not drop a bag on the pursuit. I’ve been riding Harley’s since the early 90’s. I’m on my 5th one which is a 16’ Heritage that I’ll be riding until I can’t swing a leg over it anymore. I traded in an 09’ Street Glide with 91,000 miles on it that I paid about $20k new for before the Bagger insanity started. The Indian’s although nice looking are obviously Harley knock-offs. I can’t trash them because I don’t own one to know better but all I’ll always ride a Harley. You know what they say……” If I have to explain why, you’ll never understand”
@williamwright1563
@williamwright1563 3 ай бұрын
Knockoffs? You mean like two wheels, fenders, saddlebags a tank like every motorcycle ever? Don’t be silly. Just got a 23.5 CVO RG with inverted forks, multiple drive modes, remote locking bags, multifunction display with Apple Carplay capability, full LEDs, TPMS and an electronically controlled windshield. My mistake, no windshield control. All that was on my ‘21 Indian. Three yrs ago. Who is copying whom? PS, my first HD was in 1969. You don’t need to explain anything. Don’t rightly know how many since and none were perfect, neither is the Indian but it’s slightly closer than HD. If all you eat is meat and potatoes, a taco can seem pretty zesty. Break out of your phone booth, there are more flavors out there than you might imagine. Being a brand lemming is no way to go through life.
@markh5892

That’s a pretty bitter sounding reply there Mr. Wright and I’m not a brand lemming sir. If I could share pictures here, you’d see my Suzuki parked next to my Harley. You may have a handful of years on me but In my 50 years of riding, I’ve had just about every brand and style bike there is to ride and yes sir, I’m partial to Harley’s. I’ve only owned seven of them but what do I know? When Polaris killed the Victory line, I seem to recall a new line of Indian’s that popped up and they sure seemed to resemble Harley’s. Honestly, Mr. Wright, when they were coming out with their knock-offs with their big motors and all the goodies you mentioned, I’ll confess, I was pretty impressed and they got my attention. However, I just couldn’t warm up to them cuz I like my good ole’ meat & potatoes. Their sparse dealership network doesn’t work for me either where I live. The closest one to my home actually closed within a year of opening and the only other one is an 1 1/2 hour away. There’s a Harley dealership twenty minutes distance from my home that’s been open for 50 plus years so that also plays an important role in my preference. Barking at me when I didn’t say anything negative about Indian got my feathers a little rustled so I guess i just had to bark back. Ride safe and enjoy whatever you ride sir.

The only gripe i have about indian is that the highway bars and heel toe shifter doesnt come standard on most of their bagger models. My 18 streetglide came standard with highway bars, heel toe shifter, and gps. I understand that its a preference but, you can always take the heel shifter off if you dont like it. With indian, you have to pay thousands more for an upgraded version to get those things and even so, have to pay an extra couple hundred bucks to get the heel toe shifter put on the standard bagger version. There arent that many aftermarket parts available for indian so you kinda have to buy from indian for the most part to customize your bike. Indians are beautiful, well balanced, comfortable bikes. Even their stock seats are better than harleys stock seats for the most part.

The Indian is a nice bike, but it’s owned by Polaris which already had a super successful motorcycle company (Victory) and dropped them literally overnight to keep the Indian name.I’ll stick with HD, they’re not going anywhere. And if you’re concerned about where HD manufactures parts, then don’t research where Polaris makes theirs…. The fit/finish and aftermarket of the Indian just isn’t that good yet and probably won’t ever be. Harley is the premier motorcycle company for a reason.
@dccycler3554
@dccycler3554 3 ай бұрын
@@MikesB12 you have made a lot of assumptions in this post. “Indian is owned by Polaris and already had a super successful company (Victory)”. Think about that. If it was successful why would they drop the Victory line???? No one drops a successful company. Clearly if you had reviewed their financial statements which (were) likely online…you would have seen that the EXPENSES to run that product line exceeded REVENUES hence their need to make a product line shift. HD and Indian both make superior products…..and by the way, I own Indian and Harley right now…and love them both equally. Lastly, I just received a set of docking hardware that I purchased on HDs website and when it arrived….the box read “made in Pakistan”. -Sincerely yours, A finance guy.

@@dccycler3554 Well, finance guy. Victory was a very successful company that was great competition for the HD in terms of quality and performance. You ever think they thought Victory was too much competition for the beloved “Indian” name and needed to be out of the running? BTW, that information was given to me firsthand by some Indian representatives in Sturgis, 2016. They had a steady stream of Victory owners that were pissed about their motorcycle company being done away with. My point about the origin of parts is this… HD has been manufacturing overseas for 3 decades and Indian makes the same amount everywhere except the U.S. So why does Polaris get a pass and Harley criticized for it if they’re both claiming to be “American” made cycles?
