Thanks to Manscaped for being nice enough to support this one! Get The Performance Package 5.0 Ultra for 20% OFF + Free International Shipping with promo code RUBIX at manscaped.com! Also bonus details that didn’t make it into the video. -Helldivers was originally inspired off of the Vietnam War DLC for Magicka -The terms and conditions of the game are written in lore. -One of your ship’s most powerful stratagems is reserved exclusively for blowing you up if you try to leave the battlefield. -Silenced guns were in the first game so fingers crossed we get them in 2 -There’s a tank destroyer and motorbike that desperately needs to be added to 2 -The CEO of Arrowhead is very fun to follow on twitter. Also since I accidentally predicted this game was coming out a bit ago, my next prediction is 3rd person Magicka.

detail you either didn't mention or missed (a lot of people missed): in the tutorial when you get your cape, there's those big stone monuments to either side at the start of the room, with words etched into them like memorial walls for dead soldiers they're not memorial walls for dead soldiers it's a fucking in-universe eula for being a helldiver

And says at the very bottom in super small letters that if you stand within 10 meters of the plaque for 1 second then your considered to agree to it in full. Also another thing I found interesting in it was that reading the contract in full actually breachs the confidentiality clause of the contract, its great
@BunMangViet
@BunMangViet 3 ай бұрын
It gets even better: There are clauses within your contract that state that: 1.) Reading the contract in whole is a breach in contract 2.) Reading even a single word of the contract means you are now legally bound to said contract 3.) Any one being within 10 feet of any copy of the contract for at least 1 second is regarded as having read said contract. 4.) All terms stated within the contract are applicable to the contractee post mortem.

The memes that have come out of this game are so great too. My favorites have to be the various stratagem codes. Like the "I'm not gonna sugarcoat it, ⬆️➡️⬇️⬇️⬇️" is way funnier than it has any right to be.

@@Guardian-of-Light137 stratagems are a kind of consumable you can use in the game. You hold a button and enter a specific set of inputs to choose the stratagem, then throw it like a grenade and whatever you call in drops from orbit or a plane. There are offensive, defensive, and support types. The inputs ⬆️➡️⬇️⬇️⬇️ are used to call a 500kg bomb, one of the biggest munitions you have access to. Something that I always found really funny about Helldivers II stratagems is that they remind me a ton of motion inputs in fighting games. They’re obviously not the same, but just the meme of “I’m not gonna sugarcoat it” feels like it came from the Tekken meme of the same name, just using the input for Electric Wind God Fist instead of the 500kg bomb. I definitely want to play this game down the line, it seems so much fun, motion inputs are just the little sprinkle on top that makes my glue-addled fighting game monkey brain happy

On the note of your armor being covered in blood, dirt/mud, bug guts, and snow- You can also wash it clean by going to into water, or by being in rain. And then once you're out of the water, you'll progressively dry off, before likely getting dirty again. It's such a small thing, but seeing your armour all shiny and clean again after a rainstorm after it was previously soaked green in bug juice genuinely gives me a feeling of being refreshed and ready for more.

It's honestly impressive how much little details they were able to cram into this game. Dynamic armor damage, terrain destruction, a very good-looking procedural map generation, dirty armor, great music and environmental doodads. I'm honestly a bit mad there hasn't been a tank game that implements some sort of armor damage so there is more variance between "weapon has enough penetration to punch through armor" vs "whoops you're 1mm short, it go bouncey into space"

This sort of stuff used to fall under the umbrella meme of *TECHNOLOGY!* Pretty prevalent right after GTAIV came out, which was chockfull of small and smaller details that quickly added up. Personally, I'm just flabbergasted that the Galactic Map is not an overlay, but an actual interactive game object, so it's visible in real time as it's being manipulated to other players. On a technical level, that's kind of nuts.

Forgot to mention, every NPC on the ship has a different name for each person's ship. The Democracy Officer by the strategy/planet map has different scars or even an eyepatch. If the host is on the strategy table all the other players can actually interact with it and watch (though Rubix did point out that you don't have to because you can still see what the host is selecting) and even the Democracy Officer has a place at the table though he doesn't use it.

I think my personal favorite small detail is with the flamethrower. The pilot flame at the muzzle doesn't start ignited, and pulling the trigger for the first time emits a small puff of un-ignited fuel - then the pilot light sparks to life, and you get the stream of flame you're expecting. But what's even better is that the pilot flame stays alight for a while, but will eventually go out after a period of time not spent firing, and this actually affects the time it takes to start throwing flame! You can start firing immediately as long as you can physically see the flame at the tip of the muzzle, but if there's no pilot flame, you'll need to relight it.

When the servers crapped out, all those ships went away, and if another super destroyer in orbit is using a laser or whatever, it's because a player called it in. Maybe it's not literally the very second another player called it in, and of course it's not loading those other team's full games or whatever, but it appears because some other player called it in.

Not sure if it's just a particular planet but there's a world I played on recently where majority of the missions had unexploded mini nukes littered all over the damn place. We set off 3 of these in various missions by accident - and a ton more on purpose - resulting in catastrophic Helldiver losses.... and hilarious ragdolls. The extractions is one of my FAVORITE parts of the game simply because of how stress inducing they become. They aren't too hard, they aren't too easy, and they're NOT in the middle - they can be in the middle, they can go to either extreme, it all depends on something I have yet to figure out now and the mystery of that problem is what causes them to be the fun kind of stressful. Because there's the relief some times when it's too easy and you're like "ah yes, pop a ccld one while we watch the bugs disintegrate in the face of 4 auto turrets." - but if they're harder you get the "Yah, I figured - I was prepared for this though" kind of mentallity, you grit your teeth and you have fun either way. Its definitely worth the buy, and is one of those games you'll be craving when you're at work or school and can't wait to get home to play it.

Honest to God love your videos, and I do my best 'not' to skip the in video ad segment, and seeing you run around attempting to read the script whilst not dying sealed me from skipping ahead. Love your stuff man. Glad to see you enjoying Helldivers and hopefully one day Ill run into you in game o7

I still love so much of the small details. When reloading the revolver, if you had to cut your reload short, it won't magically produce more bullet casings. Only downside is that it still doesn't matter; your diver will still go through the motion anyway (though it makes sense if you shot a few rounds.) The pump shotties (Punisher and Slugger) both have visible loading tubes where the shells sit. As you fire, they'll empty out, and will refill as you reload them too. Attempting to shoot your weapon mid-reload if it has a bullet left over will let you shoot that bullet in the chamber! Sometimes, when pulling out the revolver, your character will flip it and it's really neat. Also, when it comes to your armor being dirtied and cleaned off, blood and dirt/mud get washed off in water/rain, but oil stays. Bonus; if you're using a jetpack or you get set on fire, your cape gets singed, and I think it also gets ripped if you take damage in the back too. When treading through deep snow, following a fellow diver's tracks reduce the slowdown as they've already made a path themselves. Also, just as an added bonus for the machineguns, the bullet casings do stay for a while, so firing your whole magazine will have a lot of shell casings on the ground by the end of it.

This was a super neat video, it was nice hearing everything you really appreciate and some things that make you feel iffy! Helldivers 2 is one of the perfect examples of what can happen if devs can and do put their heart, soul, and love into a game! Super interested to see what the devs have planned for the future of the game! Thanks for the informative and fun video!

This is probably the best video I've seen on the game. You explore and showcase many aspects, but also enjoy what the game has to offer. I've never even seen other KZbinrs mention, let alone use, the squad functionality of weapons (which is awesome by the way) or the amount of game possibilities gleaned from the first game. The negatives are also understandable, and I assume many of those and more will be worked on (just gotta let them catch up). I also wish I was able to play, but I'm on Xbox only.
