@@anthonyartesani6996 Because we had to. But we've eaten plants far longer and more consistently, and populations who eat the most plants are the healthiest and live the longest, whereas populations who eat the most meat have some of the poorest health and the shortest lifespans. Doing something for a long time doesn't make it moral, healthy, or even safe.
@AdAstraLabs10 ай бұрын
That's not true? We see that regions which live the longest all live stress-free lives. The region with the highest number of "centenarians" usually live in regions closer to coast. These communities eat the "Mediterranean" diet (Lots of fish, natural fats, vegetables), get plenty of sunlight and live simple stress-free lives.

@@AdAstraLabs What's not true? There are a lot of factors that affect longevity, but diet is an important one. The longest living population known to science are the Seventh Day Adventists who have a high percentage of non meat eaters. Those SDA's who don't eat meat live about 8 years longer than those who do. Only the vegans among them have an average BMI in the recommended range.

For those that missed it- at 3:00 Greger stated that the level of heme in impossible burgers is below the threshold of concern. So that just leaves the burger itself as a highly processed food component stripped of fiber, in a larger meal consisting of highly processed foods stripped of fiber and heavy in grease/oil, salt and protein.

I still don't understand heme iron. I really need to sit down and study it.
@VFella3 жыл бұрын
Iron comes in two forms (to keep it concise), one is the non-HEME form that you can find in vegetables, the other one is in meat (and some plants) and is an iron atom (or several) bound to an protein called Hemin that is a part of animal hemoglobin. What the plants use it for I am not sure, but I guess it's related to oxygen intake. The non-Heme iron that veggy folks consume is the one that we are warned will be "destroyed" by some "antinutrients" (phytates so from the top of my head), while the Heme iron is not. This is one reason people think vegetarians and vegans have to suffer from iron deficit and anemia... which is not really true as vitamin C counters the action of these phytates at a 10:1 ratio. And a short lifehack: Tea, specially green, is rich in such phytates, but taking in your iron just 30 minutes after / before the tea consumption avoids the problem. And last but not least, these "antinutrients" are actually also important anti-cancer compounds (!)

I had bleeding in my stools and pains in my abdominal........ I fixed everything what did I do.... I went Carnivore and all of my stomach problems went away. No Fiber Needed!!
@WinterGK3 жыл бұрын
That doesn't change the fact that according to research using hundreds of thousands of people in multiple studies, your risk of colon cancer while on that diet, is not just slightly raised, but significantly. Not to mention cardiovascular desease. You should find out why you had blood in your stools and abdominal pain. Eliminating every vegetable, fruit, nut, grain, bean etc on the planet and just eating the food most associated with cancer and heart disease, is dummer than just eating beans or only potatoes etc, since at least those foods are linked to lower disease risks. Your best move is to find out what food was causing your problem and only eliminate that while maximising the foods scientifically linked to longevity. Meat is not linked to lower risk of any disease i am aware of.
@SavvyGirl7512 жыл бұрын
You might want to check to see what your allergic to. Carnivore diet is recommended for people that have allergies, chrohn’s/ colitis to bring down inflammation. Long-term meat only isn’t good (unless you have a health condition in which case talk to your dr non that too).

It's great to see all of this science about how horrible meat is for you, but I feel like the WHO covered this to a large extent. I know Dr. Greger's done videos on dairy in the past, but I think it's actually more pervasive and worse than meat because it's ALL processed and cheese by default just has soooooooo much salt and is so calorically dense. So, Dr. Greger, maybe make dairy your next crusade? I know you're not done with meat yet but it's starting to catch on, meanwhile if one more person tells me they're "vegetarian" because they can't live without cheese I'm going to drown them in a vat of butter.
