My time in Hong Kong was quite exciting. I had fun tasting the food and discovering a totally different reality than what I have encountered before. The city is going through a lot. I would like to return another time when the dust settles a bit more. If you enjoyed any of the content filmed in Hong Kong, kindly subscribe and share the video. Cheers!

The taxi didn't do anything wrong. The meter should be running until the fare is paid. Same thing would happen anywhere in the world, including here in NYC - you're paying for their working time (as there is opportunity cost associated with waiting for you) not simply the distance travelled. If you sit perfectly still in NYC traffic for an hour, the meter will still be running, it has nothing to do with how far you've travelled. Normally the meter is turned off at the destination, but normally the payment is also paid at the destination, which is where you messed up. So obviously the meter has to keep running because you're wasting his time. He doesn't know how long you're going to take to exchange cash - that's totally your fault. Also, it's $1.66 USD difference bro, not a big deal. You're definitely wrong here and should've paid the meter cost instead of acting like he's ripping you off when in reality you are inadvertently ripping him off. Also, why put this poor taxi driver on blast on youtube without his permission? Just makes you look dumb because you don't understand how taxis work. Several other people in the comments agree with me - we all use taxis everyday and know what we're talking about.

Very nice video, Ivain. Wow! That taxi driver was scamming you. I agree always go Uber 👍. Thank you for sharing your tour around the city. Great content. I enjoyed watching 👍👍👍.

Thanks a lot for watching Mike. Yeah, he was on something else. He really wanted to get the most 😂
@kayflip22335 ай бұрын
The taxi driver definitely wasn't scamming him, not sure why you think that? The meter SHOULD be running until the fare is paid. He's not sitting around for free. He gets paid for his time like anyone else. You don't get to hijack someone's time for free when they could be out making money from another client. Same rules for any taxi around the world including here in NYC.

@@kayflip2233 Agreed. Seems more like Ivain was trying to scam the driver.

Pidgeon in French restaurants is called Squab. The Hong Kong Pidgeon looks more tasty. and yes you have to pay for wait time with Uber too.
@IvainTures5 ай бұрын
Thanks for watching. The wait time with Uber is at departure not arrival. Also, the transaction being cashless it’s much faster and this situation would have never happened.

Friend I live in Fiji, the taxi meter actually keeps running here when stopped and waiting although at a slower rate than if it was running, it was just a misunderstanding.

Thanks for ur honest feedback. I truly never ever had that situation before. When you arrive they stop the meter. This is a first for me 😂
@kayflip22335 ай бұрын
@@IvainTures That's because you're supposed to pay as soon as they stop the meter. Since you couldn't do that, he has to leave it running. You're paying for his time, not just the distance travelled. Pointless losing your temper when you don't even know the rules. It's not unique to Hong Kong, every taxi around the world works that way. I am from NYC and it would work the same way here if you have to stop off at an ATM to get cash while they wait. I work in London and that's how it works there too. Nothing new. You think everyone is trying to rip you off, not even realizing that you could be the source of the problems. Also, it was literally only $1.66 USD extra and you still thought that was some type of scam and made a big scene out of it.

Hongkong is worse
@kayflip22335 ай бұрын
Yeah same happens in America with lots of assaults, robberies and even random murders from African Americans on Asian people. What impression do you think Asians coming to America have when they consistently see hate crimes from Black people murdering Asians (happens a lot here in NYC)? At least no one is going to harm you if you go to Asia. Also why don't you mention all of the rich African Americans working in Finance in Hong Kong? They're making tons of money and not complaining. Probably because you have never worked or lived in Hong Kong or China or even stepped foot in the continent of Asia and have no idea what you're talking about? Why don't you go to the Black Experience Japan youtube channel and see testimony of how hundreds of Black people have of their experiences all over Asia. Here's a clue - they never want to return to America after living in Asia. Seems like the opposite of what you perceive Asia to be like when you haven't even travelled there at all.

You wouldn't work for free would you? Also, it's $1.66 USD difference, not a big deal. The fact that you're from Africa, which is home to the most corruption on earth, and calling this Taxi driver corrupt for keeping the meter running while the guy is off wasting his time to get cash that he should've had in his pocket is hilarious to me. How about you drive me around your city for 1 hour, then when you drop me off, I won't pay you. You can just sit there for free while I try to get cash, it could take 30 min or maybe 3 hours? Who knows, but instead of getting another fare you can just sit there for free. Sound like a good deal for you? Or should I pay you for your time? But that's corrupt to be paid for your time you're saying? LMAO.
