7:56 This is a modulation to the V key (D maj). The Em and A chords are the ii and V of V. Check out "Save Me" by Queen. It has exactly the same modulation (between G maj and D maj) when it goes from the verse to the chorus.

Big Queen fan here, love that song! Just gave it a quick analysis and yes you're right, the G is the root chord of the first verse (and pre chorus) and that G then becomes the IV chord of D Major just before the chorus starts.

@@CarringtonGuitarAcademy Check out also "Take the 'A' Train" (Ellington) and "The Girl from Ipanema" (Jobim). Their 'A' sections are virtually identical, albeit in different keys. The chord in bars 3 and 4 looks like a "ii" chord, but actually it's the V of V, leading in each case to a ii-V-I in the home key. 😎

I seem to remember an episode of House where he talks about the 'innovative two-handed tapping technique of Eddie Van Halen', or something like that.

Amazing series. I would also like one video, as a counterbalance, where you analyze someone who's actually a virtuoso just to see your reaction. Something like Playing God (Unplugged) by Tim Henson

Thanks! Interesting idea, Tim Henson kicks ass, there's literally months of practice just in the intro to G.O.A.T. - I don't know how useful I'd be at at analysing that level of complexity but I'll keep it in mind for future videos, might be a good laugh just to try.

4.54 You can go a step further free up your ring finger and play an A7 under that G chord without disrupting the G fingering, it's proper awesome and country.
