I propose India should have 2 timezones like West Indian Time (WIT) (UTC +5) and East Indian Time (EIT) (UTC +6). Indian states mostly falling east of 82.5° longitude which starts from Bihar, Jharkhand, Orissa and all eastern states under UTC +6. This makes 11 states and 1 Union Territory ahead than rest of India. Similarly rest of India starting from UP, MP, Chhattisgarh, & Andra Pradesh and all other western states and UTs under UTC +5. It would take hardly 5 years to adjust but a better and more perfect environment for future generations. In fact if Indians 100yrs back can do this then we aren't dumb that we can't adjust to this.

@DraykeSax-Mac3 жыл бұрын
Not trying to be unnecessarily confrontational but India isn't exactly small. 1) India's width is 73% (approx) compared to that of Australia. If you place India on top of Australia on a map, align Gujarat with Western Austrlia, North East India would be overlapping Queensland - which means India stretches across 3 time zones. 2) India does have two sets of islands - Lakshadweep is much closer but Andaman and Nicobar Islands are closer to countries in Southeast Asia as compared to South Asia and latitudinally directly south of the Seven Sisters and Myanmar.

USA has 4 time zones, it doesn't hurt anyone 🙄. And the fact that North East people does face a lot of problems because of single time zone which is derived from western most part of India i.e. Mumbai. So it does needed to be fixed

Having single time zone helps a country to coordinate better and makes it easier. India is more in length than its width. It idiotic to compare India with France because it has divergent geographic locations. India only has A&N islands and Lakshwadeep island on the name of divergence away from land locked part.

Large country is a relative term, you need to consider the horizontal and vertical span and the population density across the country.
@nilanjanmukhopadhyay83693 жыл бұрын
I don't think single timezone is a problem. Institutions should adjust according to their needs. Schools start at different times in winter and summer. Thus eliminating the need for daylight saving. Multiple time zones creates a lot of confusion.

Yes India need two time zones And Information regarding France was misleading as mainland France has single time zone. Its territories has in different areas of the world thus its has 12 time zones.

So why is there no confusion in France regarding time?? It's just the Matter of awareness, like people in India are aware that if it's morning in India then it's night in America at the same time....so if India gets some more time zones it would actually be accepted by people by time!! but yeah it would not be easy for sure!...but still we can do something at regional level same as the people of chaibagan.....

Still unable to understand the need for different times zone . Why don't we change working hr or school hr? Why do we need to change time zone and create a new problem . ? Just to delay time. Moreover as explained only western part are facing problems of sleep cycle . Children must be getting less grade in western part anywhere. And most important why France different scattered territory is taken as examples.

@@Nutshellindia change the timing of school for that is what I have mentioned . Making different zone is more problematic. If school start 2hr early will easily applied than changing whole time zone. For businesses timing doesn't matter . It is demand and supply game . If demand is high at night it will operate.

@@Nutshellindia I have doubts with example taken. If rising and setting of sun. Is creating too much problems for a region . Then productivity must be going down. Better example would be Bangladesh and eastern region to compare it on that ground. Bangladesh is just .5hr difference.
