Just a note guys, the interest rates are very high at the moment so the savings rate is high. If the interest rate drops so does your return. Louis, also mention that inflation is 5% per year so if you get 7% from the bank the true return is only 5% after inflation devalued the rand. Stock however is at a all time high and great investors like warren buffet has started moving his funds from stocks to bonds (awaiting a market correction) eg. crash. Stock still outperforms all other investments over a 20y to 40y period.

Thank you so much Mr Louis. I have honestly been struggling with this issue of either only saving or doing both saving and investing. Your video came at a perfect time. I’m currently working on topping up my TFSA been moving on towards other investments like the ZAR and USD. Again thank you, I will consistently do both every month, putting in more in investing than in saving
@louisreynhardt6 ай бұрын
Huge pleasure my friend. Saving is very important . Once you have a decent savings account you should focus on increasing. The TFSA is a great tool so keep it up. Enjoy the process 💪🏻

Hi. Does that 72 rule apply to all investments amounts? So if I invest 50k at 5% returns , il double the money in 14 years ?

The truth is investing in JSE will not return growth as compared to international investments such as the S&P500
@louisreynhardt6 ай бұрын
Absolutely. That's why i mentioned us undexes and stocks. If you have the skill, you can still get great returns from JSE stocks .

Subjective opinion: Single year returns are not a predictor for immediate future returns. Saying it will take 1.5 years to doubke your money in amazon stock before their stock value increased by 46% last year is misleading and simply untrue. Same with the S&P conclusion. In the immediate future, these stocka are most likely not going to perform as well as the previous year. In reality, it does take 10 years. Investors need to be ready to absorb the losses and wait for the abnormal returns to favour them.
@louisreynhardt6 ай бұрын
Thank you for your comment. You make a great point, and you are 100% right. Past returns do not guarantee future returns. It's really important to educate yourself on the matter. I have dozens of videos where I talk about this on the channel. The point of the video is simply to prove and show that investing can be a great way to build wealth if you have patience and emotional intelligence. 💪🏻

@@louisreynhardt I still think you should be using a 5 year annualized return or something when you are doing these calculations, as we both know that 25% yearly return is not something that can be expected over the medium term. Proving a point is good and all, but not at the cost of misleading by using unrealistic numbers
@markeberhardt1756 ай бұрын
The returns for the S&P 500 over the past year might be 26.2%, but over the last 5 years the avg annualised return is 16.4%, and that drops to 10.8% if you look at annualized avg over the last 20 years.
@markeberhardt1756 ай бұрын
@@louisreynhardt watching your videos is part of "educating yourself on the matter" for some.... Using misleading numbers and then expecting people to "re-educate" themselves with the facts doesnt make sense and sounds like a cop out tbh.

I left the stock took out everything and moved it to crypto 😮 that was in 2021 oh boy what a ride in has been , first year i was able to turn R100k into R500k . But problem is i became greedy and never took any profits , if i tell you i lost almost everything in 2022😂 that R500k went down to R30k within a month, i cried everyday . Now im trying to get it back to R500k so i can cashout and move back to stocks…. It seems impossible but atleast its now sitting at R160k … i would never recommend crypto i wish i never left stocks😂

S&P500 averages 10.5% in the long term, not above 20% so this is not too accurate. Gives false hope to investors.
@louisreynhardt6 ай бұрын
Thanks for your comment. You are right. That is the average over 100 years. In the video, I said it was the return based only on the last year. It's not an average. There's a difference. False hope is created by the lack of knowledge.
@markeberhardt1756 ай бұрын
@@louisreynhardt its actually the return over the past 20 years which is relevant to most investors watching your video. The example is flawed and should be improved but yet you seem to deflect and blame it on "lack of knowledge" of the viewer rather than standing up as a creator and educator in the South African personal finance space and holding yourself to a higher standard. It makes those that do know something about investing become wary and diminishes trust in what you have to say. How are we to know now that the whole point of this video was to sell the dream of a yearly 26% return on investments to people who don't know any better just so you can make some money on them signing up with your affiliate links. Its still a good message for them to hear, but its the principle of the matter. P.S. This comes from a place of wanting the best knowledge out there for Saffas as we need to be informed on topics like these. But if YOU KNOW better, then YOU DO better. Unless your only concern is to make money from this and not actually help people, then fairs.

@markeberhardt175 you are missing the point fo his video. He never said you or any one can exoect that type of returns. Haibo. He merely stated the facts. Your comment is flawed. You cant simply watch one video and base all your investments on that one video 😂😂😂
