To anyone who doesn't live and breathe trucks, particularly Peterbilts, Conrad Shada's latest build could easily pass for a 379. Many people are surprised when the Anamosa, Iowa-based independent owner-operator tells them it's actually a 2020 Peterbilt 389 glider. Shada spent 3.5 years rebuilding the rig to as closely as possible resemble an early-era 379, the Peterbilt model Shada calls the "Cadillac" of the long-hood trucks.
The result of Shada's work was on prominent display during the 2023 Guilty By Association Truck Show in Joplin, Missouri, where it sat front-and-center outside the front doors of the 4 State Trucks chrome shop. In this video, walk around the one-of-a-kind rig as he explains all of the painstaking details he put into it during the build.
Overdrive contributor Gary Buchs caught up with Shada and the 2020 Pete, too, in 2022 at the Walcott Truckers Jamboree that year: www.overdriveo...
