They took away the power amp aspect and cabinet simulations so that you have to buy the MS80IR to go with it. It should be called the MS50g Minus, not Plus.

It's exactly the same as the g2four the cabs and irs are part of the amp. Model they are using multi layer ir.

@@richardpress9551 I was talking about the MS stomp pedal series. The old 50G had whole amp models - preamp+power amp, as well as switchable cabs. In the new 50G, the models are just listed as preamps. No mention of power amp sections or cabs.

Let's be real, people aren't buying this for amp sounds. They are buying it for the digital effects.

@ The MS70CDR has all the same effects as the 50g, plus more because it doesn’t have space being taken up by amp models. Anyone buying the 50g *just* for the effects rather than the 70CDR is foolish. (And if the argument is that people are buying it for the distortion effects, then they are still foolish, because there are only about 4 distortion models in the whole pedal that are not terrible sounding)

I have the zoom ms50g+ and I bought an mvave ir box so I can load ir with the zoom….yo can put the zoom noise reduction for the noise…thanks for the review

ms 70cdr with the jailbreak 3rd party app, swapping in and out all the fx you need and then some...

The new MS-plus use ZD2 effects and are not compatible with the OG MS's.

The best way to describe it is based on what you see, if your expectations are realistic it's exactly what you expect it is for a studio in a pocket pedal in 2024. Something for everyone, does well on a solid-state combo, phenomenal through a high wattage all valve head. A solid state head it's going to be best on the effects loop in most examples. *As a stand alone modeler into headphones, mixer or computer, it can deliver but with limits.* Only a couple amps give you high gain lead and still pass for analog. Namely the DZ and Krampus. Noise gates are also a bit limited but the shred patches I made are ultimately pretty quiet by relying on the Red Crunch or stacking a couple distortion pedals so the amp model gain can stay low. *I had hoped it would hold it's own against larger boxes but it's just very limited to something full sized.* I suppose they're selling the Apple app to fund making one for Android? 😭

It seems like they put absolutely zero time into updating any of the algos in the past decade, which sucks. It's like 90% the same exact ones that came in the old version, they just added a handful of new ones. And the screens still look like gameboy screens. They just added some color to the back light. This is far worse than my expectations. I'll keep my old one.

I tried the 80ir+ and boy was it....let's say not good. And it seemed like you could only change IRs by using an iPad or iPhone. They don't have an option for Windows or Android. Zoom can't be serious.

The community has worked out enough to support these new MS-plus pedals, 'zoom-zt2' and 'zoom-explorer' would be a good place to start.
