Oh, also..."The Friday the 13th Reunion" is included in the Scream Factory release. It is on the Uncut Disc. AND, the audio is the EXACT same that is on the Scream Factory release. So, I dunno how you think the sound is better on the 4K release.

Once I bought the Scream Factory set, I voted to never buy F13 movies again, regardless of format or packaging. This let's me know I made the right decision.

Thanks for the great info! New subscriber here 😎👍🏻 I bought the 4K version but i haven’t had time to watch it yet. I still haven’t pulled the trigger on the scream factory box set but I’m really close lol I love this franchise as well. I’ve heard similar things about how dark the Paramount 4k release is during the night scenes so that kinda sucks. What do you think of the transfers on the other films in the box set? 1-4 in particular? I do know that they are all have 4k transfers from the camera negatives. I’d like to know what you think of those films in particular. I enjoyed this review and can’t wait to see more of your reviews! Thanks again!

Bro, you know that when a blu-ray has a 4K scan that it's not true 4K right? It's a 4K scan, down sampled to 2K . The 4K blu-ray is in actual 4K resolution and it sounds like they definitely used HDR and totally wrecked the black levels on the night scenes. Film is a analog medium, but a 35mm frame, which all the Friday films were shot on, is equivalent to true 4K......4096x2160p.

Thank you for explaining that also. I been thinking the same thing. But he does say often he has too own every version he can, lots of money into one title but his business. I prefer my box set version from sf.

The first, original release on VHS by Paramount is very dark at night, especially the Betamax version. Overtime, on home release, the night scenes have gotten brighter and brighter...and brighter. Most fans forget how dark this film was, originally. This 4K release is straight from the original 35mm camera film negative. Hence, why it may seem too dark. It looks great on my 4K T.V., you may want to try to re-calibrate yours.

If your older even the USA up all night tv version was dark as hell. But that nostalgia alone is buy a ysa up all night version. I always thought for the up all night series they could of banked on putting them out but USA is cheap and does not care much these days unless it's law shows or wrestling.

I Love the 4k release, its dark, how it should be and its awesome, I don't even mess with the settings, colours/details are amazing, people are expecting 2022 film lighting on a 40 year old budget slasher movie 🤣😂😂

Of course the 4K has HDR. It has Dolby Vision and HDR10. I bought the 4K and I don’t have any of the issues you’re experiencing. Sounds like you need to calibrate your tv better.

All 4k's are too dark, Blu ray usually looks better, the 4k format only exists to get people to repurchase the same movie again which is exactly what you did which is what they wanted you to do! They got your money again and you got hosed. Formats don't matter a good transfer on a Blu ray will look better than a bad transfer on a 4k disc.

I wouldn’t say all Ultra HDs are always dark or muddled looking, it just depends from what distributor it comes from and how well it is processed or upscaled with HDR. Also, check your TV settings to see what brightness, picture mode or contrast you have set. The intention of 4k discs is to give more natural life-like colors like you’d see irl, and people misunderstand as a downgrade to regular blu rays. Those formats are usually way more poppy in color which almost makes it look fake whatever is happening on screen. But 4Ks can also range from being really colorful too or also muted. It’s hit or miss sometimes.
